- Rishi Sunak Speech: Former British prime minister and Conservative leader Rishi Sunak offered some light-hearted advice to his successor, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as he congratulated him for his decisive victory in the recently concluded UK General Election. "Life comes at you fast. Soon, you might be fortunate enough to be tapped on the shoulder and offered a junior ministerial role,” Sunak said during his first official speech as UK Opposition Leader in Parliament, referring to his appointment as a junior Treasury minister before being promoted to Chancellor under Boris Johnson’s premiership.

How nice and graceful is the speech by Mr Sunak.
when they don’t have power you’ll see lots of nonsense like this
Even you can deliver better speech than this if someone else has written for you.
@@TheIndianTechie007Bud...you should watch Sunak's pre-election debates ....which I am sure, make you some wholesale changes to your opinion. Just for record, Sunak has been "condemned" for being too "fluent" especially whilst participating in the debates!!!
@@rahoolmukherjee My point is, that didn't make him better politician. He failed terribly and made UK a disaster. Election result shows how people got so pissed off that they voted for Left to get rid off him. He should rather leave politics and join some institution to teach students.
@@TheIndianTechie007 what stupidity. What disaster did he make? . He saved the economy after liz truss havoc. He had hardly any wiggle room. They voted for Labour because of the prime minister before him.
Classy, Gracious and funny at the same time. That’s how opposition of every nation should speak.
What a masterful and courtesy speech Rishi gave as the Leader of the Opposition - a truly British and honourable address! Well Done!
I voted for neither Labour nor the Conservatives. But I wholeheartedly agree with the other comments, This was a brilliant and memorable speech - even later praised and appreciated by Keir Starmer. I do not think I have ever heard a better response, from the Opposition, to a Queen's, and now King's, Speech or from the leader of the Party which has just lost a General Election. It is a pity that he will not be continuing as Leader of the Opposition. He was the one member of the then Tory Government who deserved praise for most of his measures as Chancellor during Covid, and for the speed with which he delivered them. He will be a loss to UK politics.
Nothing can defeat this man's class...he stands dignified 👏
What is so classy about him? LOL
Absolutely!
@@TheIndianTechie007his upbringing...his education and professionalism background prior to his stint in the Tory party!!!!
@@rahoolmukherjee Again, all these qualities you mentioned are useless for being a politician. His background is a rich brat. He never saw a life of common British people who are struggling for housing shortage, immigration problems. Tory party lost because of him.
@@TheIndianTechie007Tories would have lost whoever was Prime Minister as people just had enough and needed a change
The majority vote was to evict the Tories not necessarily a massive support for Labour or Keir Starmer
Rishi finding being in opposition easier than being PM I think. I hope the Government is equally well mannered in dealing with the opposition.
You mean like not disrespecting the house, breaking international law, not answering any questions, illegally prorogue parliament, defending accepting money from a donor after he posted death threats to an MP. Mocking the death of a child whose mother was viewing from the gallery, should I go on. The tories with him defending and sometimes taking part in those actions, did these things.
@@wanderingfool6312 Ouch, you've been carrying an injury for a long time.
It’s always much easier to critique, criticize and oppose, than to actually set policy and lead.
I’m a Liberal, but this is true for all parties and political beliefs.
Very gracious and witty.
Brilliant speech by a humble ex-PM, larger as a politician and more able than any of his rivals from within and outside his party.
Is it really humility? I think it’s more feeling relieved he is no longer responsible for doing the impossible. Now isn’t it easier to be a good Shadow Minister.
Simply brilliant speech by Rishi Sunak as the leader of the opposition.kudos
I'm happy to have a space where I can express my admiration for this wonderful man, whose stars were not aligned! May God bless you Rishi Sunak, and may you shine!
Rishi Sunak one of the best orators ❤
What a lovely speech after losing the election. God bless
For many this may be a revelation to see the real Sunak. A statesman and a gentleman.
Great speech Sir. I admire the dignified manner in which Britain Parliament sittings take place. Vetri South African Indian 🙏🇿🇦🇿🇦🙏
Very thoughtful speech by Rishi Sunak the former Prime Minister and Conservative leader after suffering a heavy defeat in the General Elections of July 4, 2024.
🤣🤣🤣
Good speech by a good man !
Nothing good about him .14 years of hardship
What a guy, he tried very hard to get it right for the country but Labour were always on the attack and made it very difficult for the Conservatives to get things through - Great Speech Rishi.
The tories were obsessed with identity politics and infighting, they did very little for those they serve. All labour had to do was hold themselves together.
The Conversatives had a majority, how did Labour make it difficult to get anything through?
They did this to themselves and Rishi was part of the problem.
@@rafl-hx8kw Where have you been in the last 14years - living on another planet!
@@simongleed 14 years of Tory government, you mean?
Had to live through it all unfortunately. The country is in a terrible position across all areas. If that wasn't the case, they wouldn't have been destroyed during the election.
Good riddance. Time to fix the country that they have destroyed.
Rishi’s speech should to be taught in every Institution Globally!!!
He has set an example of what an Opposition should be. Hail to Rishi Sunak!!
Very good speach god bless you ❤
Wonderful. Very Sporting.

Excellent . What a gracious speech. Class act. He did his best. Turned the economy around. Called election even after knowing he will loose the election when he had 8 months to be the PM.
He didn’t call the election because he was gracious, or fix the economy. I think you’re too readily impressed with his private education.
Aww Rishi Sunak - what a gentleman. Just lovely.
This is called democracy. Rishi Sunak is highly educated, suave, intelligent and a perfect gentleman. Hats off to the LoP for his excellent speech.
Because Rahul Gandhi doesn't have substance. When he is questioned, he becomes angry on media by labelling it Godi media instead of coming out with figures & facts on his statement. He gives a crap statement & runs away. Expects no media should ask on it

Rishi is an inspiration to all to rise by hard work. We indians are inspired by him
He opens his mouth ,and wins hearts
Politicians across the world will study Rishis speech as a review template
Excellent speech by a good man who was hobbled by the buffoons around him. Truss, Braverman, Badenoch - you would do well to learn from this approach to politics
Both Vivek ramaswamy and Rishi Sunak are graceful, kind
Vivek Ramaswamy is not a scratch in comparison to Rishi Sunak, one is an accomplished statesman who took on a nation in difficult circumstances, the other is just riding on a populist wave
Not really.
VR is a charlatan
Now we know why he's so successful richer than the King; humility rooted on ethical values.
He is definitely... actually they(the man himself and his super rich wife) are humility personified..each one of them!!!
He married a billionaire woman. That's how he became successful rich man.
@@shruttikhaz5486 Why, are you jealous? She only owns 1% of shares from her father's business. So, are you saying Mr Sunak was brainless and penniless before he met her? Sunak worked as an analyst for the investment bank Goldman Sachs between 2001 and 2004. He then worked for hedge fund management firm The Children's Investment Fund Management (TCI), becoming a partner in September 2006. Do you know he is an investor in Phoenix pensions group, Legal & General and Aviva, the sugar company Tate & Lyle?
@saffrondominic4585 (1) - I am not jealous of Sunak or his wife being rich. (2) Do you even know what 1% of her father's billions of pounds of wealth is?
(3) - I actually genuinely adore & respect his wife's parents, who both, as simple middle class people worked extremely very hard towards forming their IT Business & getting successfully rich, to becoming billionaires as they are, from scratch. That's what I see & call as people starting from zero, working too hard & becoming successfully extremely rich completely on their own accord.
In fact, his mither-in-law (Sudha Murthy), is regarded by me as true, classic, very well high educated & genuine down to earth woman - who also unconditionally helps to feed and educate thousands of poorest Indian family children by genuinely donating money to better such poor childrens' lives & future.
Did I say, Sunak was brainless or penniless? NO. I meant, he didn't become so wealthy billionaire as he is, just on his own accord - most of what he has is by marrying a billionaire wife.
Understand what you want to. It doesn't make any difference to such truth.
Do you think Sunak could become richer than the King by investing in Tate & Lyle? Sunak is a smart guy but he made his fortune by marrying a wealthy woman. It's wrong to pretend otherwise.
Keir best keep this level of class as a yardstick.
He doesn't need to learn - he's already that man. Rishi spoke well and deserved to head a better party, less in thrall to it's senior, right wing. He'll leave and go elsewhere but Britain will need a new centre party to counter the Trump/Farage/Truss-ists and Rishi should be in there.
Great speech
Lessons to be learnt from Rushi.
I think that the UK has not benefited enough from such an intelligent financial genius and an impressive classy speaker.

Why didn't we see this version of Rishi Sunak while he was PM? Maybe he will be better in opposition.
I think its because many of his MPs were like spoilt kids, they wanted a showman like Boris Johnson to inspire people. Johnson was a talented politicians but he wasn't good at running policy. Those MPs should focused on doing their jobs, now many of them are jobless on the streets maybe.

A man of wit and grace.
It gives me an impression that this gentleman has thorough understanding of all the problem, we are deeply puzzled by the reason he called upon an election on 4th July. God bless the King and God bless UK.
He was a good PM and a decent bloke. He left a good economy, low inflation and strong stable currency for the current government.
Based on his record over 2years they should have retained him tor 2-3years and if he couldn't deliver more then have a vote of no confidence. People didnt vote pro Stamer. They voted anti Conservative.
Lovely to see. Wish he had shown more authenticity and more spine during his time in charge.
GOTTA SAY IMPRESSIVE
Congratulations to Britain's new opposition leader, Rishi Sunak..
Contrast this with the shameful behaviour we have to witness in the Indian parliament. The heckling when the PM speaks… an embarrassing display of immaturity.
And what led to that? Have you seen the Hon PM call the opposition leaders horrible disrespectful names?
contrast this with the Indian parliament where the Prime minister can never be questioned. In the UK every Wednesday morning there is PM's questions, anyone can ask them on any topic and they have to answer. In India the current PM has not even held a single press conference in 10 years! Rishi Sunak departs with grace and respect, despite being the Leader that caused the mass exodus of Tory MPs at he ballot box, which worse since records began.

Rishi isn't going away anywhere anytime soon for those who were hoping for it😅👍
If Winchester taught him this...they ought to be commended.
Rishi didn't have long enough to dig out the mess created by Liz Truss and her cohorts. I do believe he was on the right track. Perhaps his chance will come around again by providing intelligent opposition, something at which Starmer was a spectacularly failure.
Wonderful speech...
like to see him stay there, and not resign..
Rahul Gandhi vs Rishi Sunak speech difference
Shame we didn't hear Rishi and the Tories talk rationally while they were in power. Ahem. For 14 years.
They did, every week in PMQs.
Rishi you are good. Your colour let you down which I fully understand as naturally there is an element of insecurity. Rishi you were determined to deter migrants and the Rwanda plan was brilliant to do so. I am intrigued what plans the Labour government has. 1000 migrants have entered since Labour has been in power. We will sadly be an Islamic State soon. It hurts.
He was forced to remove Sulla braver man he should not have they would have been good team plus should have joined with boris

I want the UK to be great again. I'm an Irish Catholic living in Australia. The British MOD needs to modernise. The British army has more horses than tanks and too many military bands. You want to let the USA know that you're pulling your weight. Be less Disney Princess and more Rambo. Just saying.
Our opposition could learn some lessons.
He has done training on speech giving.
No doubt this is a great speech 👍by him as opposition party leader.
Wish he had been so practical towards giving his PM public speeches based as per reality & truth too, by listening to majority citizens complaints against his government's run unjust, inhuman policies been enforced on own UK citizens - and removed all such unjust ruling been enforced on British people since 2010 - instead of increasing unjust run policies on citizens further on in April 2024 - which actually got him & his Tory Party kicked out of ruling UK in GE on 4 July.
Until 4 July GE give all his public campaign speeches that Starmar & Labour Party will decline & destroy UK & lives of citizens more than Tories did for 14 years. Now, such complete U-turn in his speech, points & views about & towards same Labour become Ruling Govt. of UK.
Great speech, but most citizens would see it as a man changing his tone & tune as per what suits him.
Nothing befitted him more in high office than leaving it.
The bakery near the chicken🐤 retial shop had severe Covid and the family was hospitalized for months. Even today, i get symptoms when I eat bread 🍞from there. The bakery next to the poultry retail shop.
Contrast this speech to PM Modi's.
Is Sunak going to turn out to be a better LoP than he was a PM? From this speech you would say so.
Mark, however, that he avoided one subject: the EU.

It saddens me that a man of this calibre leads a party that demeaned itself to a point where you would have to use a microscope to see a gap between it and UKIP/Reform. Honourable and erudite.

You didn't listen. He was pointing out to the new government that all of the important policies in their manifesto and now, in the Kings Speech, were already in motion, and working, as a result of the outgoing Conservative government, which is true.
