Bugera amps are severely underrated. I'm always impressed by the sounds my V22 head and 2x12 produce.
that V series is amazing really
Their sounds are great but their build quality is abysmal. Easily the worst built tube amps ive ever played. Cheap, cheap, cheap components that do not stand the test of time. Switch relays always going bad.
I tried a Bugera Infineum amp several years ago. Can't remember what model it was but it sucked bad. The one in this video sounds a ton better. Maybe that's why they stopped making them for a few years to figure out how to make them sound good.
@@bigchiefsmackaho387 I've had my V22 combo for about 8 years and wasn't even new when I bought it, never had any issues. They are a budget brand so there will be duds out there, but also some pretty awesome sounding amps when they are gotten right.
Before Brexit the UK side sounded much more open
LOL under rated comment..nice one
The best chug HERE..!!! hahahaaaaaaa
Damn, i wish i could like your comment twice
You mean closed
@@Swedishoutlaw no.
To be honest everything sounds better through the MESA cabinet lol
it's a great cab!
IMO I like Marshall cabs more but the Mesa is pretty good.
That's one thing I've learned watching all these gear videos is: if can only upgrade one thing to improve your tone, the cab is where you should spend your money.
Facts, I saw a band use a Spider IV head with an OS mesa cab and the tone was massive
@Nilly Sigger Kohle from Kohlekeller Studio did a video about it a few weeks ago. Sounds really great ! ua-cam.com/video/eWiiMe3nVy8/v-deo.html
For someone just starting out and who is on a limited budget, I’d say it would make a great purchase for them.
still would go for a used katana or blackstar than g5 infinium.
Not the worst sound, just very dull. Main concern for me is their reliability. First generation of Bugera at least had a tendency to fall apart.
@@markvandergiessen3158 Yes some of them but as one of the owners that has a original tt 333XL mine still works fine and Bought it 2 years and I bought it used
+1 It has everything
I would honestly rather go for an orange micro dark. And if needed some booster pedal infront of it.
5:35 that was a damn good lead tone
I would love to hear "will it chug" gear in a mix.
Would be way to much work for him. Unless he had only 1, 1 minute track that he uses
AKA Glen Fricker :)
Yeah like SMG does hey
@@mcdude0192 Glenn ils wrong 😹😹
Ola, you can do a "re-review" of the amps that passed on your channel, some of them are over 10 years old, it would be interesting
Great idea, a Koch amp or the Marshall JVM would be nice
Oh yeah, those Fryette/VHT amps, he's done videos on the SIg-X and Deliverance. I hope he can snag a Pitbull too (the full blown KT-88 version). Apparently, they are the tightest sounding (unboosted) tube amps ever made.
Bugera is a seriously criminally underrated amplifier manufacturer.
Despite the older models' power supplies being IEDs (or something like that lol), they still delivered a good-sounding product for a very affordable price!
(This next part might get me some backlash but eh, it's a consequence of voicing one's opinion lol)
I actually sold my old Dual Rectifier a few years ago to acquire a 333XL and ended up using the left-over money from the DR to invest in other music gear; personally, I couldn't for the life of me get a decent tone out of the Mesa whereas I set up the 333 the way I knew how to dial it in and it put the Mesa's tone to shame, in my opinion.
I’ve had new and old models... 6262 v22 and a 1990 all had transformers dead. Good amps when they work? Maybe. Quality? Always shit
I got the G20 a few years ago as a NAMM demo for $160 from one of the big online retailers. It was an impulse purchase. No regrets. It can keep up live, too.
I have this amp head and it’s one of the best purchases I’ve made in general. It will cut through in a rehearsal space or a small gig venue.
The Trirec went away because the profit margin was not there for the model. I own one, and absolutely love it. They are not huge on the aftermarket either, people just aren't getting off of them. Bugera had major quality issues on early models. But, pretty much anything in the Infinium line is good to go.
Finally got myself a trirec after looking for a long time and I agree. They're great and definitely do the dual rec thing. $450 plus shipping, criminally under-rated. The trirec model was hand-built, so that's why the profit margins made them discontinue, and I believe they settled out of court with Mesa over the Magician. I have the 333XL and a 6260 as well, and I happen to fuckin hate Peavey and Mesa so it's a beautiful thing imo lol
Ola Me and my husband are big fans and we think you are so cool. God Bless You my friend and stay safe.....
I got seriously worried when there was only a couple of minutes left of the video and there was still no OD pedal involved. Nice save Ola!
I know right?
I was thinking that every expensive head gets a boost, Ola aren't you going to give this little guy equal treatment?
Same I was about to comment to see this with pedals and deleted it mid typing cause he busted out the fortin lol.
@@jfo3000 pedals suck
Pedal suck. Evh was right you play straight out the amp for pure tube amp
Pedal sounds worse
This particular amp is a “clone” of a Blackstar 5 watt amp which is a great amp. But as we see here the Bugera is a good amp for a really good price.
you will notice the difference only after a couple months of use, qhen the electronic parts starts to fail. From there the sound is almost the same in compare with the UK model
@@el_nestorvgc 😆
@@el_nestorvgc as someone who owns two bugera amps, they’ve held up for years no problems. Sure a tube may go out eventually if you push them super hard every day, but I’ve had no problems whatsoever. They aren’t my main amps but they still hold up well.
@@tannerblades9049 Good tubes can last decades. Bugeras are hit or miss. If you get a bad one you know right away. If they last 6 months they will last a long time.
blackstar is cheap in the first place, why bother cloning it?
Ola you are Awesome! I bought my G5 from “Guitar Max” and love it! I took me 6 months to figure out how to make mine CHUG! I finally 1/2 foam stuffed and closed the back of my 12 inch Celestion cabinet got a distortion pedal. Now I chug away and can cut from blues to rock! You made my day today Ola, Mesa Rocks!🙂👍👍👍👍👍
That Fortin 33 pedal cost as much as the Bugera G5 Infinium.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Order a pepers dirty tree. Thank me later.
@@iLikeD1rt true that 💯❤️❤️✌️✌️✌️✌️🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
@@iLikeD1rt I don't need an eq, I was merely making an observation. No need to thank anybody.
@@iLikeD1rt My bad, apologies. What kind of setup are you playing?
I have one. It's my neighbors favorite amp. It's chugs right through just fine...... $ to feature ratio is hard to beat. Ola! You are the real deal, too cool, and hilarious on a couple levels too.
I used one of these for a while with a drummer and a bass player and it held up. Also it sounds great with an EQ in the effects loop. Great video Ola
5:36, wow, that sounds perfect for leads!
I agree, smooth with a really nice reverb.
I bought this G5 infinium some 2 years ago and yes, it definitely does chug ! If you replace the stock tubes, it sounds much better. For a first tube amp, or fore home recording with IR, it does a very good job and you will find nothing half as good for such a low price.
Are you using loadbox? What's good and cheap loadbox you recommend?
@@diazzsama the loadbox I'm using is good but not cheap :) it's the Torpedo Captor by Two Notes Audio. It's in the same time a reactive loadbox, an attenuator, and it comes with speaker sims and the possibility to use the VST Plugin Torpedo Wall Of Sound (IR) with several amp sims included. I haven't tried another one cos I'm totally satisfied with this one.
What tubes did you put in it?
And is it the Captor, or Captor M you’re using?
@@spkr4thdd I have put a TAD RT 033 fir the pream and TAD RT043 for the power amp. And I'm using the Torpedo Captor not tha C.A.B M :)
@@ToroKchannel cheers for the info. I meant Captor X or Captor, not the CAB 🤣
Thanks for this chug test!
It does sound a lot like the Blackstar HT5H, from what I can hear. Right down to the muddier "UK" setting.
Pedantic comment of the day: the Trirec was actually a copy of the Dual Rectifier (2 rectifier tubes on Trirec and Dual Rectifier vs. 3 on Triple Rectifier). It did have 3 rectification modes though (all tubes, all diodes, mixed). 😁
Great amp, I'm very pleased with mine. Too bad they stopped selling it.
it is a clone the morph is the ISR thing.
@FuturoAnacronico Yes the "ISF" feature that is supposed to go brit to US modern
Tony Iommi has used the 125 Watt Infinium Bugera & Paul Gilbert was also using Bugera Amps for a time, enuff said.
Yup, that's a Blackstar HT-5 copy. I have one and it sounds the same.
Perfect timing, been looking at reviews of this for my first tube amp. Now I'm sold, thanks
This vid's title should say "it will chug!" instead.
Bugera has been around since 2004 ..2005...they first came out with the copy of the 5150...called the 6260...and then the 5150 II..called the 6262...which WERE BAD ASS..for 499.99!!!all tube...then came the JSX Joe Satriani copy...all 100 or 120 watts..they were beast amps for the price
How about another episode of this amp through the bugera infinium cab?
cab and speakers make a much bigger difference than most people realize, and the targeted audiance for this amp is not the kind that can afford a mesa 4x12.
Would be interesting.
Bugera does not make guitar cabs anymore.
@@PeterDad60 A Harley Benton 1x12 sounds very close to a Mesa and costs less than the Vintage 30 speaker alone.
@@realtrisk i own a bugera 333xl that goes into am harley benton 2x12 v30 vintage, it sounds amazing
@@Enricothevanished I've got one too, and I love it. Very nice.
Got the G20 version of this. Definitely solves the volume issues if you're concerned about the wattage.
Definitely louder, but the gain stage doesn't sound as good. I had a G20 sitting on top of my G5 and I ended up re-selling the G20 because the gain wasn't as tight and driven sounding as the G5.
I’ve been wanting the Bugera 1960 infininum. Basically a modded plexi for cheaper and it’s really good.
This thing has been around for a while. Always wondered about this one. Anxious to see how Old can make it sound. Guess I'll find out.
Did you intentionally write ‘Old’? I know why. :D
The youtuber crossover I never knew i needed until i saw it
these amps gets unfairly shit on by people who have never tried it so often. nice to see someone actually try it properly. i got the 20w version running trough a 2x12 as a livingroom amp and its great with some pedals
Looked at this alot when i was searching for my step up amp. Got a Laney IRT studio for 100 euros more (second hand) and man do I NOT regret that purchase.
You should definitely do a “I recommend” series, like what you recommend for tube, solid, budget, etc
I love how if there's a piece of gear i'm looking at 9/10 it's on the affordable side and Ola has made it chug
"Will it chug" chug chug chug . Beautiful morning soundscapes
I remember Bugera amps being around way before 2012 and they’re still out there.
Monoprice 15 watt tube amp could be a good one for this review. Also the Bugera 333XL is a legit bad ass amp.
Here we go, I bought one of these last year :D
For how cheap it is and with a boost in front this definitely kicks ass
I run a boost through the FX loop…among other pedals…and it kicks ass
I just bought 2 333XL. Hand wired and they rock. Purchased with 4 years warranty! Less than $530 US!
TBH Ola will always sound like Ola! That's a good thing. Backline gear doesn't matter for him because he can make it all sound like him :)
Seems you`ve answered my request from a while ago. I keep this rascal only for bedroom use and it does it job well. Happy to hear you make it chug too !
I got the Bugera G20 watt .... it’s chugs a lug all day and shreds all day long on my Bugera ts 80watt cabs ... best $350 I spent a few ago.
It comes with a distortion/Reverb pedal that’s quality built , should’ve used it ..
The tone stack is shared between the clean and overdrive channel. I own this amp and it is a copy of a Blackstar HT5. Also didnt mention it has a built in effects loop and power attenuator from .1 watt to 5 watts. also head phone in and outs for playing along with music from your phone and it comes with a foot switch for channel switch and reverb on and off . Seems to take pedals well and I run it into a 1X12 with a celestion V30. Good amp for practice or home recording. All in all a smoking deal for what you get for 200 bucks
I plugged my headphones in mine the other day and was disappointed that it did not bypass the cabinet. Am I doing something wrong?
@@LilGeezer82 You just don't plug the cab in and then you get only the headphones. (i Believe the headphones have enough load/resistance that you won't damage the head doing this) It would only need to bypass if it was a combo amp instead of a head. I believe this amp also has a direct out that has speaker emulation on it so you can run it directly into your recording software without a mic. (havent checked in a while I know one of my heads has this and I think it is the bugera)
The way I see it, the amp nearly doesn’t matter. So long as it’s setup for high gain, it’s gonna chug. IMO The thing that matters really is the cab selection. For metal, make it heavy with 4 v30’s in it and it probably can’t sound bad no matter what you do. Lol I got an engl 4x12 pro loaded with v30’s and it just makes any amp sound amazing. I run my 100 watt el34 evh 5150 on it mainly but I also have a joyo zombie that sounds surprisingly great with it.
Joyo Zombies are beasts. I have the G5 and the Zombie, and even though the Zombie has that weird honky mid noise at low volumes, it sounds indistinguishable from a dual rectifier for me once you crank it to uncomfortable volumes lol. Such an immense metal amp for around $120 used.
@@enthused7591 yup. I still have mine. Don't really use it but there will come a day where it will be needed and it'll be there ready to kick ass for me. Lol.
I have the 1960 infinium. It's sitting on top of my Friedman b e 100 right now. I prefer the sound of the bugera currently I'm sure I'll switch back to the BE at one point.
I own the 333XL Infinium. They're still around. You can buy them new on Amazon right now, tho the price has gone up $200.
Love my 333XL
My wife has the Bugera V5 Infinium combo. It's définitively not chugging, but it's a great amplifier from clean tone to ACDC tone. For 200€, it's not cheap looking, and sound great!
I love it!
The 333 and the 333 XL I think are still available and the 333 XL the neat thing about it is I don't think Peavry is making the jsx aka XXX 2 anymore. So if you want to get the sound of a jsx and a new amp you have to get a bugera I think.
Which is unfortunate because I think the jsx is the perfect amp. It's like a hot rodded Marshall with EQ controls that actually work.
I've had this amp for a few years now and it's actually really nice and sound good for a small head
Small head, big shaft
I was literally think I needed this video and 2 days later pops up on my phone. Awesome
I had one of those with a couple 12s it was a good little amp for the house. Its a 12ax7 and a el84. Upgraded tubes help a lot and it has built in power scaling
Ola, you need to make Solar amplifiers :) 15 watts max, with a power attenuator built in. 3 channels (all equal sounds, blank canvas) , no fluff, except maybe a user creatable IR loop. If it was $2k, Id still buy it. Its fantasy land for the home guitar player. Always juggling the line between volume and tone, or only ever having one set of EQ. Please do it for every home metal guitarist across the world. After all, that's what the Swedes do in older times right :) Bring the crushing sounds of death :)
I loved my 1990 Infinium. Still sad I had to get rid of it.
The Infinium range from Bugera is actually amazing for the ridiculously low price, decent build quality, a tone totally comparable to their full priced counterparts, and most importantly the Infinium technology that (basically) automatically sets up the BIAS at any moment, which lets you very easily change any broken tube, and most importantly, just plug in and out any tube you want in it and do crazy pairings that could not be possible otherwise! It also makes it the perfect mod platform if you're into that, or just lets you wait for money to upgrade it if you're part of the broke ones like me haha. I highly recommend em for any guitar player on a budget that wants an actual full on tube amp!
I talked about this with Warbringer's rhythm guitarist who told me that he recorded the entire World Torn Assunder album with a Bugera 120 head and loved it! (the 5150 copy) I have the 2x12 combo version of it, got it used but in good condition for 350 bucks (cheaper than some pedals lol) and let me tell you it totally delivers! And it stands up to his brothers that cost 10x more! Obviously not as clear and a little muddier but the sound quality difference is so tiny compared to the price difference, it's honestly shocking
Everything sounds better through the MESA OS cabinet!
Triple Rectum Fryer
I bought a brand new xxxl infinium last year and i feckin love it ,,my brother has the g5 and he loves it ,and hes a drummer....
Spend about $70 more to upgrade the tubes and it's even better. Also has an emulated out for recording. Great Newb/bedroom Amp.
I was glad to have purchased a Bugera BC-30 before they axed the entire clone line... Best cheap Matchless I could have ever asked for.
I LOVE my bugera 1990
Modded with 6L6, I played it next to a JCM800, it wasn't the same but complimented the JCM very well.
I get compliments on my tone all the time, if you ever find a pre infinium 1990 buy it, re tube it, solder all connections properly, you will have a SICK amp
When you went to the UK setting i was hearing an old Laney, shouldve pulled out some Symptom of the Universe.
He almost did play Symptom. I heard what you heard.
I'd like to hear Hole in the Sky with Iommi vibrato...or Supernaut.
A test of the Klirrton Pedals “Grindmaster“ and “Oh my Goat!“ would be interesting
Trirec is actually modeled after the dual rectifier. Confusing, I know.
i found your yt channel years ago when i wanted to buy a bugera 6262 and you were one of the first who had made a comparison with peavey 5150
When I had a blackstar, my preference was almost 100% uk with an overdrive in front. Best of both worlds.
I've had this amp for 2 years.Awesome little amp.
Ola can you do a walk through of your chug technique? Your upstrokes are phenomenal.
My buddy angles his pick just like Ola and he gets serious clear, brutal attack on down AND strokes. I've tried that grip many times, but can't keep a grip on the pick.
Had mine for 4 years now, mostly with a 2x12 V30 cab, but overkill for home use. I've used a TS9 and a boss distortion pedal. Max vol 9n 5W and 1W setting, with about 3 gain, set the ts to a small vol boost and small gain boost and you can flip between Malcolm on a Gretsch and Angus on the SG with the schaeffer radio system. Considering replacing with a 1x12 or a Harley Benson 15w combo that everyone is raving about.
*Amazing tone"
Ola: "Doesn't sound as good.." LOL
He likes melodic death metal tone way more than stoner doom tone
I'm not a shredder myself but I like a good dose of classic metal (80s, 90s or 00s mostly) and hardrock. Accordingly, I like my SGs, Explorers, Les Pauls etc. I do have to say, though, that this orange Solar guitar is one sick looking thing! Gorgeous! Well done Ola!
Wow I had no idea this thing existed. In fact, a lot of people went out of their way to ward me off of Bugera but man, this thing sounds decent 👍
They can sound good/decent. The problem with their amps is not so much the tone, as is the quality control. Their stuff is super notorious for the wiring burning up or something along those lines.
@@Jeffmetal42 Exactly. I had one and never again. Nothing but problems. They’re junk
@@Jeffmetal42 I think they fixed that with the infinium series? At least, that's what i heard
They are no worse than any "other" amp brand. In fact, in many ways, much better for the price. Ive owned many snob brand amps, all brand new, and have had everything from zero problems to fires. Never once had a problem with a Bugera. Most people dont want to admit that their overpriced, "high end" amps have quite a few problems often times. None of them are immune.
Loved my Bugera. Beware the Infinium technology though. Good idea, but gave me way too many problems. Ended up bypassing it entirely.
Owned of these for a few years before I bought a kemper and I absolutely loved it. It's my go to amp for someone who wants heavy metal tones for an affordable price.
That sounds WAAYYY better than the black star ht5 u used to have
I find they the 9am to 12pm position on the morph knob is the best compromise for the “USA” aggressiveness and “UK” thickness and cut through.
I own the G20, great for rock/heavy rock.
@Bob Newhart My G20 starts the break up at around 10-11 o'clock with medium-hot humbuckers (SD custom custom) Hope it'll help!
Sounds pretty good actually. It would be nice in the home setup to have a tube amp in the house. I think the Marshall DSL1 sounded a bit better and is roughly the same price range.
That lead run with reverb sounded farking sick!!!
I own this amp,and love it.Great price and sounds awesome.
I love how this show is the equivalent of reviewing a ball and seeing if it bounces. Still love it though
is it? there are some videos where equipment didn't chug ;)
@@piotrgoacki9070 should've added the word "mostly" 😁
Trirec is discontinued, the rest is still available
why tho, I liked that the most
Was a great amp...😪
@@speedforhire It was discontinued due to production cost. It had nothing to do with copyright
@@speedforhire It would be cool if they renamed it and continued production. Train Rec or something?
I recall they were gearing up a few years back to release a combo named the magician which was supposedly a copy of a mesa too
I just picked one of these up for 220 USD at guitar center. I put it on a Behringer 4×12 cab. Even being a budget head on a budget cab it still CHUGS. As a trained classical guitar player I also love the clean tones.
My buddy has the Bugera Vox copy in the metal chassis and it looks and sounds great. Not quite a modern metal amp but very usable.
I've been waiting to see a video on one of these amps. Might get a G20 somewhere down the line.
hi Ola good to hear and see you. make it CHUG !
I am from England and do not understand why 'uk tone' always has to sound like it's inside a box or a different room?? I never sound like that haha
Yet another awesome video Ola! Love your content and chuggery dude!!!
It definitely has a more mids sound
It sounds good. Anyones pedal preferance ices the cake
yeah its the Cab, the secret of why everything sound great when Ola plays
I love my Bugera 6262, its a beast!!!!
I've been playing that v head for a couple years through the 1x12 version of that cab. Had to try it for the price, and I really like it. Effects loop, and the ability to switch the output between 5, 1, and 0.1 watts as well.
Actually Bugera is a thing since 2008 and their amps are still in production. Only the Trirec was discontinued.
There is the 333 - a Peavey XXX clone, the 333XL a Peavey JSX (Joe Satriani) clone, the 6260 a Peavey 6505 clone, the 6262 a Peavey 6505+ clone, the 1990 a Marshall JCM 900 clone, the 1960 a Marshall JMP Plexi clone, the T5 and the T50 - i believe like Victory kind of amps, the G5 and G20 something like a Rockstar clone (as Ola pointed out) and the V22 and V50, which are class A amps and on the VOX side of sound.
The Trirec was a Triple Rectifier Clone, but is, as said, discontunued.
I had a Bugera G20 with 2 EL34 in the power section and 3 ECC83s for the pre-amp/loop as my first tube amp. It was a great amp for my introduction for the price. I found one second hand for around $250 U.S.
Dude, besides that thing sounding pretty good , your guitar playing is sounding awesome!
I had a Bugera 100w with a 4x12. It was the cheapest tube amp in the late 2000s I think. Couldn't tell you the model. Super versatile and it sounded better than my other amps. Was in San Fran and it got stolen. Still bummed about it. However, I did have to do a warranty repair after a few months after purchase. The standby light crapped out and it was a four month adventure trying to get it fixed.
Just one thing, regarding to 6:30. Tone stack works with clean channel. I own a G5, for home rehearsal is killer! Good video as allways! ;)
It doesn't on mine
Now the prices for used Bugera amps go up
This sounds like it has more gain than the Blackstar HT5 i had and sold.
With Ola everything sounds awesome...damn!
Shortest tiniest backstory because i know you don't care. Early amps had quality control issues, so they stopped making them, fixed them, and released a smaller line of amps (ditched the trirec) under the Infinum branding. The G5 here is a clone of the Blackstar HT5. They have clones of the Vox Night Train, Peavey 5150 II and JSX/XXX, as well as 2 clone Marshall amps
Hey mate, you should definitely try the Bugera 1990. I currently use the G5 for practice and 1990 for jams. It’s a JCM900 copy and the gain goes to 22! No need for a ts9 or or pedal.
