Thanks to you I tried the Revlon Illuminance foundation - I absolutely love it. $12.97 at Walmart in shade 317 - perfect match. I have been trying to find a replacement for my $40 Merle Norman. The Revlon Illuminance is a beautiful foundation with skin-loving ingredients. Helped my 73 yr old skin look much better than it really is. Thank you
Trying to get the right shade of foundation and concealer is such, such a challenge. For me buying 2 of a product negates the cost savings of drugstore makeup. I once bout 3 of a very hyped drugstore foundation to get a usable shade. What a waste!! That being said, it’s also a challenge with more expensive products.
Shades are SO difficult...especially at the drugstore AND especially on line! Luckily I live close to Sephora, Ulta and Target and they are all really good with returns. But it is a hassle. I do enjoy being able to go into Sephora, Ulta or Nordstroms and get samples to try before I buy!
@@charlottestockham9529 it may depend on the location? My friend in California says her Targets don’t accept returns of opened products. But my Targets, Sephora and Ulta AND Nordstrom don’t blink an eye.

I really love the Revlon Illuminance Foundation. You're right about the shades being difficult to match and having no undertone to reference. I have 209 Buff Beige and it works on my light skin tone pretty well. I do like the finish, not too dewy or flat. It's the first Revlon product I've used in years and I would repurchase. ~Cynthia
Hey Tamara! As much as I love this kind of product demonstration, I think you do us a disservice by comparing arm swatches of liquid foundations and concealers while the swatches are still wet. When oxidation and color changes happen, it's usually after the products dry. Especially if you're using multiple layers during the application to build up coverage. I've had a lot of frustration with oxidation and color matching due to fluctuating dryness and moody rosacea, so I switched to BareMinerals OG Original loose mineral powders more than twenty years ago. It does require me to moisturize adequately every day, but these powders apply like a dream, with easily adjustable coverage levels and NO oxidation. I use them as a light dusting, well buffed in, over a lightweight moisturizer and tinted mineral-only sunscreen, and I get a lovely finish that lasts all day. Thank you for the energy you put into your videos!

That does work for me, but I recently purchased the shade Light and that is a better shade match for me in the winter. Thank you Debbie! Iv'e been alternating between 3 eye creams...Kiehls Creamy Avocado, DRMTLGY Eye Cream and Sukoyaka Suhada Urea Eye Cream. As far as day time moisturizer....I'm working on another round up and have tons that I am trialing...but I still love Purito Unscented Centalla Recovery Cream for the winter, Vanicream Facial Moisturizer for the summer. I brought the DRMTLGY Peptide night cream to India and used it as both a day cream and a night cream! When my skin is extra dry will layer Stratia Liquid Gold under my moisturizer and if I need a really occlusive protection when I am outdoors in the winter I love Dr. Jarts Ceramidin Cream....I love them all! Not to mention the Merit Serum...SUPER hydrating....more info than you asked for LOL.

I recently bought a wet & wild blush because I liked the shade. I was totally surprised that for $5 it is very pigmented and blendable. It is a real keeper.

Soo , I was at Walmart this morning and I picked up 2 of the Gilded mini ,s , I actually didn’t have those and I tried it’s all Rose’ and it def is pigmented , I got the whiskey business also it’s kinda warm and cool . I would say they are a tad more pigmented and about the same in powdery then the Most Wanted formula . I wish Walmart carried Essence so I have to go to CVS 🙀. Maybellines sky high came out with a primer , it is black so you have to apply your mascara kinda quickly , you can even use that as your mascara but I don’t like it as much as our HG L’Oréal Bye , see you Sunday 💓
I also tried that Revlon foundation in a couple of shades and settled on the shade Creamy Natural and I really like it. I want to try that Essence blush.

I would love to know how the essence blushes compares to Milani baked blushes. Which you like better. Perhaps more smoothing. I actually love foundations that have a gray green undertone because I’m green 😂 but I’ve seen it swatched too cool for me. Pink will show up on me where on others it might not Thank you.
I picked up shade 105. Much paler than it looks. But it did mesh a bit with my skintone after a minute. Coverage too light to cover my redness but I agree the finish is nice and skinlike. It really seems to self set. I also picked up the blush. I think essence does such a good job with their blushes and I love their eyelash primer. It has replaced my lancome. Very nice look and thank you very much for this video. You are always so calm and peaceful.😊
I purchased this foundation in 117, I ended up returning it and did not repurchase another shade, I didn't really care for the formula but I'm sure it'll work for some people.😊

Hello Tamara, I really enjoy your videos as we are the same age. Could you tell me what products you use on your hair? Yours seems to be really healthy and thick. Mine is suddenly becoming thinner. I am letting the gray grow out. Do you use supplements? I know this is kinda off topic but I am curious. Thank you.
I need to do an updated Hair video soon. But a few products that I always use to give volume...Haielle Volume Shampoo and conditioner and Volume Spray (discount code in description box). Also Big Sexy Hair root pump moose at the roots before blow drying upside down. I sometimes use a dry shampoo to boost volume but am not super loyal to any brand. I also use a large velcro roller at the crown to boost volume at the crown. I do take iRestore 3 in 1 hair growth vitamin which is a mix of biotin and saw palmetto and I do think it helps. I've used the iRestore Laser Cap...and I THINK it helped, but haven't been using the past few months because I loaned it to my cousin who is really struggling with thinning hair. So far she isn't having much result...so I am hesitant to recommend it 100% wholeheartedly until she finishes her trial. (Its super pricey...but they do offer a good money back gaurantee). Thank you Tami! I was a bit taken aback by the deep tones and pigmentation...but you are right...not overly "smokey" at all. I'm just used to a softer, lighter eyeshadow look...but this is definitely a more wearable look than I originally thought!
You look lovely as always! Just wanted to ask : does the DRMTLGY sunscreen untinted leave an oily residue on your skin ? I purchased the tinted version but could not wear it because it left my skin so oily and greasy looking. It seemed to just sit on top of my skin and never get absorbed.
Thank you Becky! I think you are referring to the Physical Tinted Formula which is a bit heavier and some people find it too shiny. (my dry skin loves it though). I think you will prefer either the Universal Tinted or the Broad Spectrum Untinted. Both are hybrid formulas with both physical and chemical filters. The formulas are lighter and do dry down to a non greasy finish. The look pretty on the skin and work well under makeup. And because it is a hybrid... they don't sting my eyes like so many other 100% chemical SPFs.

As a breast cancer survivor I try to limit the amount of chemicals I use on or in my body so I probably will steer clear of the formula with chemicals added. Hi Tamara this is my issue with most less expensive foundations/concealers - the shade range is not great. When you're super pale or a more unusual skin shade (of whatever depth) finding a shade match is so difficult. I can't get a match in Fenty or Huda (both have large shade ranges), so what hope do I have in Revlon or PF? I will buy and enjoy colour products from more affordable brands (as well as mascara and liners), but for foundation etc I tend to have to go higher end to have any hope of a match. I can't be bothered playing chemist in the morning trying to mix a shade that works for me. I also think no foundation will look really good if the shade isn't right, so it just makes life more difficult in the morning when you're getting ready. Overall the makeup turned out really pretty and on camera the foundation shade looked fine. Apparently there are only two of those blushes have glitter and the rest just have a soft glow, so maybe the other pink shade will work better for you. The eyeshadow looked really good with your sweater - not too smoky after all. Best wishes.

Walmart online carries the Milani Everyday eyes Earthy Elements eyeshadow. I have been wanting to try it, but didn't know how the pigmentation was and if there's a lot of fall out.
Interesting! I thought they stopped making them since they haven't been available on Milani Website for years? Maybe they have a special deal with Walmart?...Or it could be old stock? I really loved those palettes back in the day, but wasn't as experienced with makeup then...if you do try it would love to hear your thoughts!
Hi Tamara, thank you for this review. You are my favorite because of your concern with affordability and recycling, surprisingly neither of which some beauty influencers even address. Not to mention, I have the same skin (very dry), skin tone (fair and cool), age, and style profile as you do. Anyway, if I may make a friendly suggestion, take as you will. I would find it really helpful if you could do a wear test on your products. As I am still working, I find that I need at least 4-5 hours of good wear on my cosmetics with minimal reapplication given my work environment (lipstick reapply is expected, but not every other thing!). As a general rule, I find the higher end brands do better in that regard, but in many instances I would like to find more affordable options. Thank you for all you do.

And I agree that generally higher end makeup tends to be more long lasting...especially blush and eyeshadow! But both the Milani and the Essence Blush lasted quite well for drugstore powder formulas!

Hi Tamara, based on another UA-camr's review, I picked up the Physicians Formula Butter Glow concealer. I agree that the first shade is too light, and the second shade is too dark. I went with the darker shade, and at first I thought I loved that it. For such a thin formula, it gives a suprising amount of coverage. However, no matter what powder I used to set it, it always seemed to form creases after a short amount of time. I think I am giving up on that one, although I had such high hopes at first! I just watched a very positive review of the NYX Can't Stop, Won't Stop concealer. I would love to see you review that one!
I'll check out the NYX...and I'm also super interested in trying the new Flower Beauty Get Real Serum Concealer that Lisa J recently raved about...but once again I ordered the wrong shade and the shades that seem like a match are out of stock. Shades can be so difficult!
I am with you, if I don't feel the shade is 100%, I return it or just don't reach for it. I'm extremely disappointed with Revlon in terms of the higher price end with no explanation! I got brown suede and it made me look like a corpse although it looks neutral. For $18, at least explain the shade/undertones. Essence is more often a hit than a miss. Great video ❤

I just re swatched to double check..."Call me Old Fashioned" actually has 3 shimmer formulas...The bronze shade is a super soft satin, ALMOST a glowy matte, the champagne is a just slightly above a satin with a soft sheen, and the taupe has a bit more shine but not overly metallic. They all look pretty on my mature eyes. I also purchased The Wine Down and It's All Rose"....all the shimmers are a nice soft satin. The Rose" leans a bit more peachy than pink. Hope this helps!

My preference with "shimmers" is to choose satin finishes (or very close to it) . I avoid buying palettes because most contain heavy shimmers , so I purchase single Satin formulas which are definitely challenging to find in drugstore brands. Thank u so much Tamara😊!
The Revlon foundation is much less expensive at Walmart or even Target. You’re always going to pay more at like a Ulta or drugstore. I’m pretty sure I paid only around $13 for it at Walmart. So keep this in mind if anyone is going to buy it, be smart and go to Walmart.
I was just in Ulta today and yes, they have now have testers if the Revlon Illuminance, but a few months ago when I did this video my Ulta didn’t have testers. I did finally find a perfect shade…213 and it has become one of my favorite foundations!

I have tried the Neutrogena Moisture Smooth Color Stick. The shade I have is Soft Raspberry. They apply very nicely, with a slight shimmer 😊

I think our skin tones are quite similar but you might be just a tad deeper...if I remember correctly you used shade Light/Med in IT CC cream? That does work for me, but I recently purchased the shade Light and that is a better shade match for me in the winter. Thank you Debbie! Iv'e been alternating between 3 eye creams...Kiehls Creamy Avocado, DRMTLGY Eye Cream and Sukoyaka Suhada Urea Eye Cream. As far as day time moisturizer....I'm working on another round up and have tons that I am trialing...but I still love Purito Unscented Centalla Recovery Cream for the winter, Vanicream Facial Moisturizer for the summer. I brought the DRMTLGY Peptide night cream to India and used it as both a day cream and a night cream! When my skin is extra dry will layer Stratia Liquid Gold under my moisturizer and if I need a really occlusive protection when I am outdoors in the winter I love Dr. Jarts Ceramidin Cream....I love them all! Not to mention the Merit Serum...SUPER hydrating....more info than you asked for LOL.

I recently bought a wet & wild blush because I liked the shade. I was totally surprised that for $5 it is very pigmented and blendable. It is a real keeper.

Soo , I was at Walmart this morning and I picked up 2 of the Gilded mini ,s , I actually didn’t have those and I tried it’s all Rose’ and it def is pigmented , I got the whiskey business also it’s kinda warm and cool . I would say they are a tad more pigmented and about the same in powdery then the Most Wanted formula . I wish Walmart carried Essence so I have to go to CVS 🙀. Maybellines sky high came out with a primer , it is black so you have to apply your mascara kinda quickly , you can even use that as your mascara but I don’t like it as much as our HG L’Oréal

I have trouble finding my correct shade in the drugstore because there is rarely any guidance and there is no way to test them in store. I picked up shade 105. Much paler than it looks. But it did mesh a bit with my skintone after a minute. Coverage too light to cover my redness but I agree the finish is nice and skinlike. It really seems to self set. I also picked up the blush. I think essence does such a good job with their blushes and I love their eyelash primer. It has replaced my lancome. Very nice look and thank you very much for this video. You are always so calm and peaceful.😊

I purchased this foundation in 117, I ended up returning it and did not repurchase another shade, I didn't really care for the formula but I'm sure it'll work for some people.😊
I really like the smokey eye on you Tamara. Thats a nice blush with it. At least Revlon DIDN'T claim it would last 18 hrs or something ridiculous. I'm with you, less foundation on forehead. It's a gorgeous foundation and I still love and use it.
I looked at that foundation, I really wanted to try it! But I just really couldn’t seem to find a right color.
Def difficult! I returned 217 and purchased 213....4th try was a charm! Luckily I was able to return the other three.

Hello Tamara, I really enjoy your videos as we are the same age. Could you tell me what products you use on your hair? Yours seems to be really healthy and thick. Mine is suddenly becoming thinner. I am letting the gray grow out. Do you use supplements? I know this is kinda off topic but I am curious. Thank you.
I need to do an updated Hair video soon. But a few products that I always use to give volume...Haielle Volume Shampoo and conditioner and Volume Spray (discount code in description box). Also Big Sexy Hair root pump moose at the roots before blow drying upside down. I sometimes use a dry shampoo to boost volume but am not super loyal to any brand. I also use a large velcro roller at the crown to boost volume at the crown. I do take iRestore 3 in 1 hair growth vitamin which is a mix of biotin and saw palmetto and I do think it helps. I've used the iRestore Laser Cap...and I THINK it helped, but haven't been using the past few months because I loaned it to my cousin who is really struggling with thinning hair. So far she isn't having much result...so I am hesitant to recommend it 100% wholeheartedly until she finishes her trial. (Its super pricey...but they do offer a good money back gaurantee). Thank you Tami! I was a bit taken aback by the deep tones and pigmentation...but you are right...not overly "smokey" at all. I'm just used to a softer, lighter eyeshadow look...but this is definitely a more wearable look than I originally thought!

You look lovely as always! Just wanted to ask : does the DRMTLGY sunscreen untinted leave an oily residue on your skin ? I purchased the tinted version but could not wear it because it left my skin so oily and greasy looking. It seemed to just sit on top of my skin and never get absorbed.
Thank you Becky! I think you are referring to the Physical Tinted Formula which is a bit heavier and some people find it too shiny. (my dry skin loves it though). I think you will prefer either the Universal Tinted or the Broad Spectrum Untinted. Both are hybrid formulas with both physical and chemical filters. The formulas are lighter and do dry down to a non greasy finish. The look pretty on the skin and work well under makeup. And because it is a hybrid... they don't sting my eyes like so many other 100% chemical SPFs.

As a breast cancer survivor I try to limit the amount of chemicals I use on or in my body so I probably will steer clear of the formula with chemicals added. Hi Tamara this is my issue with most less expensive foundations/concealers - the shade range is not great. When you're super pale or a more unusual skin shade (of whatever depth) finding a shade match is so difficult. I can't get a match in Fenty or Huda (both have large shade ranges), so what hope do I have in Revlon or PF? I will buy and enjoy colour products from more affordable brands (as well as mascara and liners), but for foundation etc I tend to have to go higher end to have any hope of a match. I can't be bothered playing chemist in the morning trying to mix a shade that works for me. I also think no foundation will look really good if the shade isn't right, so it just makes life more difficult in the morning when you're getting ready.
Overall the makeup turned out really pretty and on camera the foundation shade looked fine. Apparently there are only two of those blushes have glitter and the rest just have a soft glow, so maybe the other pink shade will work better for you. The eyeshadow looked really good with your sweater - not too smoky after all. Best wishes.

Walmart online carries the Milani Everyday eyes Earthy Elements eyeshadow. I have been wanting to try it, but didn't know how the pigmentation was and if there's a lot of fall out.

I really loved those palettes back in the day, but wasn't as experienced with makeup then...if you do try it would love to hear your thoughts!
Hi Tamara, thank you for this review. You are my favorite because of your concern with affordability and recycling, surprisingly neither of which some beauty influencers even address. Not to mention, I have the same skin (very dry), skin tone (fair and cool), age, and style profile as you do. Anyway, if I may make a friendly suggestion, take as you will. I would find it really helpful if you could do a wear test on your products. As I am still working, I find that I need at least 4-5 hours of good wear on my cosmetics with minimal reapplication given my work environment (lipstick reapply is expected, but not every other thing!). As a general rule, I find the higher end brands do better in that regard, but in many instances I would like to find more affordable options. Thank you for all you do.

And I agree that generally higher end makeup tends to be more long lasting...especially blush and eyeshadow! But both the Milani and the Essence Blush lasted quite well for drugstore powder formulas!

Hi Tamara, based on another UA-camr's review, I picked up the Physicians Formula Butter Glow concealer. I agree that the first shade is too light, and the second shade is too dark. I went with the darker shade, and at first I thought I loved that it. For such a thin formula, it gives a suprising amount of coverage. However, no matter what powder I used to set it, it always seemed to form creases after a short amount of time. I think I am giving up on that one, although I had such high hopes at first! I just watched a very positive review of the NYX Can't Stop, Won't Stop concealer. I would love to see you review that one!
I'll check out the NYX...and I'm also super interested in trying the new Flower Beauty Get Real Serum Concealer that Lisa J recently raved about...but once again I ordered the wrong shade and the shades that seem like a match are out of stock. Shades can be so difficult!
I am with you, if I don't feel the shade is 100%, I return it or just don't reach for it. I'm extremely disappointed with Revlon in terms of the higher price end with no explanation! I got brown suede and it made me look like a corpse although it looks neutral. For $18, at least explain the shade/undertones.

Are the Milani shimmers heavier than a satin?
I just re swatched to double check..."Call me Old Fashioned" actually has 3 shimmer formulas...The bronze shade is a super soft satin, ALMOST a glowy matte, the champagne is a just slightly above a satin with a soft sheen, and the taupe has a bit more shine but not overly metallic. They all look pretty on my mature eyes. I also purchased The Wine Down and It's All Rose"....all the shimmers are a nice soft satin. The Rose" leans a bit more peachy than pink. Hope this helps!

My preference with "shimmers" is to choose satin finishes (or very close to it) . I avoid buying palettes because most contain heavy shimmers , so I purchase single Satin formulas which are definitely challenging to find in drugstore brands. Thank u so much Tamara😊!

What a winter! It was below zero a couple of days ago but looks like a bit of "warm" weather coming our way for "spring". LOL.
The Revlon foundation is much less expensive at Walmart or even Target. You’re always going to pay more at like a Ulta or drugstore.
I’m pretty sure I paid only around $13 for it at Walmart. So keep this in mind if anyone is going to buy it, be smart and go to Walmart.

I was just in Ulta today and yes, they have now have testers if the Revlon Illuminance, but a few months ago when I did this video my Ulta didn’t have testers. I did finally find a perfect shade…213 and it has become one of my favorite foundations!
