I think you are missing a huge point guys, the so called big six have had huge revenue streams for years giving them all an advantage when signing players and complying with PSR, we have not due to Ashley no giving a hoot about our club hence why we are playing catch up, continued commercial deals and of new ones will of course help but without stating the obvious this will take time

A very common sense answer that has absolutely no business being made on this channel. Apparently 2.5 years is enough time to build a new stadium, a new training ground, catch up to the top 6 commercially and to do it all without selling players.
7th after all is "a failure on the pitch" according to Alex. I used to love watching this channel because it was one of the more level headed podcasts. Now its just full of moaning because the club can't match the unrealistic expectations of fans who think we are bigger than what we are

    • @chazu-land
      @chazu-land 3 місяці тому +1

I honestly am enjoying seeing the club have to develop proper business models. It makes me feel more secure about their future capability to attract and retain talent. There are things the club didn’t have established that are pivotal to success off the pitch, that are now being put in place or sured up b/c of PSR. It was procrastination on NUFC’s side though.

    • @davidwebster5946

@@chazu-land I agree that it was uncomfortable getting everything last minute....but it WAS done after all without selling a first team player as well. A lot of the PSR problems are legacy issues from Ashley. In the first 2 seasons none of the outgoing players left for a fee except a few million for Shelvey. That's what's screwed us. That and the low revenue the club had from the Ashley days. It will be easier going forward

@@davidwebster5946 - I absolutely agree, after the mess left by Ashley the 4 on this panel should really have more of a clue of just what our new owners have had to put right and just how much time that will take, moaning on about what PIF should be putting right outside of the PSR rules is naivety of the highest order bearing in mind they are only 2.5yrs into a plan that could take 10-15 yrs

Expecting the club to keep us up to date one something like this is like expecting a poker player to show you their hand.
As soon as it’s in the public domain exactly what they needed to claw back, the value of every “fringe” player drops through the floor and we are left having to sell one of the top players, which is very nearly what happened.

This new PSR Deadline day, which is clearly a thing now (Get used to it). Has made this off season an absolute fucking joke!
My heads battered and we haven’t even kicked a ball yet!!
The most disgusting thing about all of this is that it’s absolutely nothing remotely related to the game we love.
The balancing of the books has us all fucking demented and I reckon less than 1% of the fanbase actually understand the actual financial situation of the club.
I don’t expect the club to divulge its inner workings and calculations for general consumption but by say nothing they have driven us all batty!!
In the absence of any real communication from the club, journalists, media and the fans have created a PSR monster.
Communication is the key. Always has been always will be, especially with our fanbase. In the silence we create our own worst case scenarios and feed off one another.

I would say it is unfortunate, but I really think people are over analyzing stuff. Selling a player is a two way street and people have to want them. How were the club really supposed to sell when apparently half the league needed to sell to make PSR and the players wanted to be sold were not valueable pre-July. Also to imply PIF left is ridiculous, who do you think paid for the light shows that everyone has loved, they bought back strawberry place land to make stack. Things take time and everyone just has to be patient. Sorry for my rant, but just feels like so many are being hypocrites to their own words saying they just want a team to be proud of and fights for us, which we have, but flip out when there are one or two less than ideal trades. Also with every passing season the PSR will loosen as our revenues increase and then in 5 years time or so we can spend with near reckless abandon. And that is even not taking into consideration that the rules may change anyways.

Really folks,.......take a moment to stand back and take stock. In this present moment the club is in great shape, having weathered some incredible storms. People are letting there emotions show. We seem to have gone from Amanda, Darren and Peter to Staveley, Eales and Silverstone, that feels very emotional. In the past month, we've seen the Adidas launch, two wonderful SELA promotions, confirmation that we're staying at St James park and the fan zone progressing. And,....this summer we have an exciting transfer window ahead;...are we spoilt and angry that we're not getting more? Just because the Club executive aren't talking to fans at the moment isn't a problem, just open your eyes to see what is happening. Actions speak louder than words.

The problem here is supply and demand. I don’t believe anyone in house thought about the demand side issue from other teams.
They knew we had a problem but assumed everyone else would be ok. The deadline was for all clubs therefore anyone in the same boat would not have been in the market to buy players. The demand was created by the workaround / back scratching but we should have been doing that earlier.
That being said all the clubs would use this as a point of leverage to get the best price down below what we wanted and closer to their want.
Manure were obviously using this against us with ashworth to force through the sale. We played brinksmanship on the deals and that is good business, but it’s tough to watch. And you have to be prepared to take the points deduction if you are going to do that. We bottled that part of it and then panicked.

There are a few things to consider here, how are the finances of a privately run business public knowledge, the Club were obviously lining up lots of options to mitigate PSR issues and probably had some locked in and unfortunately clubs became aware of our situation. There were obviously no takers for Wilson, ALmiron or Trippier or I sense they would have gone. Now we are through this barrier, apart from losing two really talented players, we have a decent amortised amount to go to our transfer fund. Lets hope PSR becomes a thing of the past, trust still in the Club but they need to learn how to run a proper Public Relations strategy, they have allowed gossip to become the truth since the awful Darren Eales interview earlier last season.

For me PSR, contradicts itself in so many ways.
First word, Profitability. Yet the criteria is "losses have to be less than 105 million". That's not exactly "profitability". Besides that, I'd argue that clubs/teams in any sport shouldn't be profitable anyways. They should be using all of their available resources to constantly be improving in their respective competition...that's the point of sport. Massive overspending polices itself. The money will run out eventually.
Second word, Sustainability. Yet the penalty for breaking the regulations is a points deduction. Points deductions lead to reduced revenue from lower finishing position in league or possibly relegation. These penalties go directly against the supposed purpose of the regulations "Profitability and Sustainability"...the penalties compound the problem.
If they changed to rules simply to "sustainability" rules, changed the limit to losses as a percentage of total revenue, and changed the penalties to transfer embargo....it begins to make a lot more sense

Having a plan for transfers relies on both sides of the transaction. On how we got here... You've got to realise that flip side of amortisation is you commit to a spend for 5 years. The "amortisation cost" for this year in the 2023 accounts is £89 Million. The third party rules came in specifically to hurt us retrospectively - its hit others harder than they thought too. The club have known and been honest about it for the last 12 months. The plan was to inject cash through third party transactions - SELA was an obvious first one, and always had a viable business link but now they need to find other ways to inject the capital.

The panic and stress caused by the past few days felt unnecessary imo. Hopefully we can learn from here and push on, but we are entirled to ask questions and want better. Alwx made a great point that time waits for no one. Football moves at pace, act slowly and you get left behind.

Its the transfer window, our director of football has been poached, its not exactly straight forward to realign when having to consider all this extra bollocks. What are they supposed to tell everyone our secrets?
If you look at our midfield, Bruno, joelinton, tonali, willock, miley, longstaff - anderson isn't gonna be getting the games he wants and he's a good player, he'll wanna play - its best for him really and he's done the club a favour and we can always get him back for nowt when his contract runs out.
Most of the clubs have changed their managers or recently just got them, teams are gonna be all over the place next season whilst we've been developing into a strong unit, we werent far off last season from champions league considering everything, its a champions league team, Dortmund and psg got far into the competition and we dusted psg.

“True Faith” should change its name to “No Faith” or “True Impatience”.
It’s amazing how NUFC have literally been saved from being a zombie club by this ownership group, and yet some fans and this channel still find time to be negative, expecting to become the best club in the world with a snap of their fingers. Last January there was criticism of mismanagement because no players were brought in, despite the clear message that there were PSR issues.
Now there’s criticism of mismanagement because there are PSR issues.
The positives far outweigh the negatives, but you would think it’s the other way around with how negative some people are.

We aren't saying there hasn't been progress on the pitch. Since the new ownership, the progress on the pitch has been more than what a lot of fans would've expected with how quickly it all came about. If there are these really tight PSR issues (which evidently there has been), and the club can't invest on that aspect to be "number one" like they said, there are ways to carry on improving it and investing the money, for example the training ground. There is no stopping them from doing that.

I was a bit surprised by the tone of the show today. I strongly suspect our owners chief executives were taken by surprise on the points deductions they all thought they would just get a financial penalty. Each transfer window we wanted them to deliver and they did gradually building from trippier to Bruno to Isak to Gordon to Tonali and we were all buzzing. Then the pts deductions started and we knew we couldn’t buy anyone in January and given the December state of play with injuries we would have struggled to sell trippier miggy. Then basically we wanted and needed to sell. Easier said than done as either some players not attractive or couldn’t get the money we needed. So I don’t blame anyone. The whole stadium trading ground issue takes time and perhaps they didn’t want to build a new training centre while they were waiting to see if we were going to move from st James. We have massively improved turnover and eales told us we would need to sell. Have faith
