- President Vladimir Putin in a surprise cabinet reshuffle removed Sergei Shoigu as defence minister of Russia and replaces him with Andrei Belousov, who has no military background. Putin’s big cabinet shakeup comes days after he started another term at the office. Putin’s move was lauded by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who said that it is very important to integrate the military economy into the national economy, referring to the appointment of Andrei Belousov, who specialises in economics.

Shoigu has been promoted to the security council, therefore vacating his defence post😳. Belousov has also been promoted into the post, this is all positive & deliberate promotions by Putin as reward & for strategic purposes!!.

Russia already has checkmate in a few more moves. Momentum is so great on all fronts that there won't be any need for the Defense Minister to take relevant military decisions. Post-war, it's important that an economist manages Russia's military spending. It's a really smart move by Putin.

To be a good defence minister does not require a military background - it requires a person of superior intellect, politically adept, with sound enterprise management skills, and very good judgement in respect of military advice received.
