    Near death is the astral plane, I work in a hospital, and this is a very common experience. You can experience complete ego death more than once, not the "you" you think, ha ha. The Bardo states is what the near-death experience is, ego death is possible then if you go towards the white light in the various Bardos. So I agree, the dream agreeing with the dream about the non-dream.

    In verse 44 of Śrī Aruṇācala Akṣaramaṇamālai Bhagavan said: ‘Turning back inside, see yourself daily with the inner eye [or an inward look]... I would recommend replacing the word see with the word check. Check yourself daily with the inner eye. It is a way to measure your spiritual progress.

    The description of Ramana's death event at age 16 yrs. is said here to have taken about 20 minutes, in which his body actually died. I have not heard this interpretation before, but as Michael James is an authority and went from the Tamil, I would have to presume he is correct. I would like to inquire as to how he arrived at this interpretation, however, if possible. My reading of the English version was that he only pretended to be dying, not in any way that he actually physically died. Also, some seem to think this was over in a matter of a few seconds, not twenty minutes. I would like to know if it was a flash understanding, in seconds, or if it required 20 or so minutes of self-investigation, and how this was arrived at, if possible.

    Maybe Arthur Oabourn believed that Ramanas first deat was complete because he thought a few vasanas remained and brought the ego sense back a tiny bit and the second death16 yrs later finished him off.
    Ramana himseld self you can think you are free and then find the seeds are not all roasted

    Hi Michael
    At certain times I feel an urge to read the news, listen to music or watch entertaining videos (especially when eating). Are these vasanas? If so, I should be resisting them?

    • @johnmcdonald260
      @johnmcdonald260 Рік тому +5

      Everything what we do is caused by vishaya vasanas, all seemingly good things and all seemingly bad things. That includes all perceptions, feelings, everything what we see outwardly like this world. All actions that the body does are determined by these vasanas and the allotted karma for this life.
      Now what we truly are is not "doing" those things, the ego simply takes ownership of the actions of the body. Bhagavan would ask, "who is resisting vasanas?", pointing that only the ego believes that it needs to "act", resist or nourish the actions of the body.
      That is a major misunderstanding. Bhagavan's path lets us investigate who is this "I" who wants to change or do things. When that investigation is successful one realizes that there is nobody, no "I" who makes any decisions, thus the I is itself the problem and believes it could fix them. It cannot!
      To conclude: Bhagavan's path does not want us "to do more" or "to fix things" or "to resist" but to investigate if this phantom "doer" or "fixer" or the I or ego really exist. We do not resist but rather surrender to all what IS. In being "I am" with vichara and surrender we transcend the duality of good and bad and end the notion or vritti of multiplicity.

      Following this, even the “moral codes” that are set up as “good behavior” and avoiding “bad behavior” are also equally the ego trying to be good or bad. If someone is vegan or vegetarian, they go around boasting that they are a good person. Yes the self concept has aggrandized itself that it is good, and even compares itself with other seekers pretending it is more advanced. It is not. Just adopted a spiritual self concept. No action in this world can produce enlightenment. Only looking back at the Self, I Am can free us

    • @Tommy7855
      @Tommy7855 Рік тому +1

      @@theself5738 I'm fairly certain I've heard Michael say in the past that it is now necessary to be vegan, as opposed to vegetarian during Bhagavan's time. If I am influenced by him saying that and I stop eating dairy, where does karma come in here?

    • @johnmcdonald260
      @johnmcdonald260 Рік тому +1

      @@Tommy7855 Diet is merely an aid, I believe that a vegetarian diet is sufficient for Bhagavan's path, it depends also on one's personal situation. The main idea is to eat food which does not affect negatively the mind (called sattvic food) and, most importantly, to eat only moderate amounts.
      To refrain from eating meat is to adhere to ahimsa, to not hurt any sentient being, since any sentient being is actually I.
      We influence karma (or better create new karma) with our will and desire, the desire to eat a specific diet, like vegan, will create more vasanas which will sprout in a future life where one eats only vegan. If you will eat vegan in this life is determined by your past life desires and created vasanas, thus if the desire for vegan food was sufficient enough in a past life that may manifest in this one.
      We usually get not much influenced by suggestions of others unless the seed for that suggestion was already planted in a previous life. That's why many who encountered Bhagavan went on not practicing Self-Enquiry but hoping that having had contact with a sage would make their life more prosperous and happy. Of course Bhagavan's grace very likely will have planted a seed in their minds which may sprout in an opportune time what could be 10, 20 lifetimes later.
      It is better to follow a moral code and to be "good" than to be bad and unkind since all what we do with a sense of doership (thus always until manonasa) will reflect back to us in a future life. Much better of course is Self-Enquiry to transcend not only the sense of doership but also the idea to be that body and mind.
      Therefore it is advised to be good but the sadhaka knows that this will not end samsara (every good action will create more future lives) and therefore surrenders the notion of good and bad (as in thoughts coming up) to Bhagavan and simply rests in being "I am".
      P.S. I do not eat dairy because my body cannot digest it well and therefore creates discomfort but anybody who has no problems digesting dairy should not fuss about that fact (eating and liking dairy) and rather practice Self-Enquiry instead.

    If it is not available for everyone it is useless.
    If it is not available everywhere it is useless.
    The very nature of being is satchitananda.
    The first humans were all realised sitting straight in the middle of it all maybe in lotusposter.
    As lotusposter brings the cosmic geometric connection to the oneness inside the universe.
    Therefore this statues of stoneculptures in Asia in the perfect sitting as the Buddha's or Jains needs no further discussions about how or what it is can never prescribe the experience itself.
    In other words practice only the technik of breath control and everyone will get it.
    Talk never can prescribe the union with GOD.

    • @Aham16

      Breath control only prescribes for those who are not qualified for Atma Vichara. Sat Chit Ananda has nothing to do with breath,but it is an helpful aid for calming. But only for beginners , No karma of mind body speech lead one to liberation , it's only by Being.
