I had two sets of these 1950s fairy lights with these beautiful shades. One set was totally ruined so I decided to do something with some warm white LEDs! (I didn't damage the working set that I showed in the video!) I found a set of shadeless fairy lights from the 70s on eBay for quite cheap with slots for the traditional pickwick or Canterbury shades - I did not expect these 50s shades to fit on them but they actually fit perfectly!! However there was to many lights compared to how many shades I had and I was planning to convert them to LEDs from the start. As shown in the video I bought warm white LEDs as they look the closest shade to traditional white bulbs. These only cost me £0.50 on offer! And I then hot glued two of the LEDs in each shade to replace the original bulbs They actually look way nicer then the original and plus they're battery operated and safe as allowed to the high voltage traditional set that get extremely hot What I will do is take the shades off the working set and put them on that other set that they fitted on as it still has spear bulbs and there are no damages in the wire. And the wire hasn't gone brittle. All I'll need to do is replace the plug which is easy as pie :)
