Welcome to another episode of the MHC House Build. This is the sixth episode of how we are self building our house start to finish. After finishing all the ground work, wooden forms for the concrete footings, insulation and rebar cages we tackled the very last tasks of the foundation before pouring concrete, installing all the drain system of the wet rooms of the house, all the rebar connections that will tie the concrete floor, and reinforced all the form to support the concrete weight. Leaving the work all 100% ready for concrete pour day.

Hey Pepe,
Wish you and family luck and prosperity on the new house, I'm a Civil Construction Engineer and I have some pointers for you in this video;
1. Never pour concrete when the weather is 36 degrees unless if you have chunks of clean ice to bring the temperature down and place them in the mixer. We do this in Kuwait due to the high temperature for Quality Control reason.
2. If you have rust on your rebars, sandpaper it lightly, clean it with a dry cloth and paint over the rusted part FOSROC Zincrich or an alternative which guarantees you that the rebar's rust won't show in the concrete like red colored spots.
3. Arrange portable towerlights just around the site if there's any work during night time so no one gets hurt.
4. For Saftey reasons, place a Safety tape around the perimeter.
5. When you do the rebar work by yourself, dig four holes in the ground and cast some concrete to keep it in place so you don't struggle when you do the work.
6. Any time when you pour concrete, you must vibrate it but point the tip straight down not inclined as the concrete will not hold together.
7. As its a big house, just invite more volunteers or paid crew partime so you don't feel overstretched.
8. and regarding your survey equipment take it to a third party inspector to recalibrate it every 6 months.
As I said earlier, good luck and happy to be reached out if you need any construction related advice.
To all the people giving her a bad time, i have 30 years in usa on excavator, and I am very Impressed how well she is doing.
Guys! What an achievement! It's exciting to be a desktop spectator, thanks for doing all this so thoroughly, hats of for the hardest working couple I (virtually) know!! ❤😍❤
Our pleasure Paul
Eugenia and Pepe, you guys are such an inspiration. Thanks
for all the landscape footage and congrats on your new, building project. I hope the end result is everything you guys envisioned for yourselves❤🌴🌻🐝
I admire your attention to detail, we have the same ethos and attention to detail in engineering. It is an honour to be able to spectate this project. Thanks
Excellent! Such precision on the the whole formwork process. It has paid off. Well done.
Hello,
in the past you made very nice videos. But this one is OUTSTANDING!
Greetings from Germany.
thank you very much, it was a fun edit process for sure
I sincerely doubt that any Portuguese concrete pourers have seen anything as meticulous as this. Brava (Italiano)
Never seen anything more precise and well organised. You guys are gurus in building. Well done for working so hard and for managing to record it all on camera. Can’t wait to see the next episode!
🙌
Sometimes I cannot believe how far you guys have come with the progress of building OUR house. I'm always floored by Eugenia's stylish outfits when you guys are building. Love you guys
at the end of all construction the table must be a museum piece
Pouring the concrete for the foundation is critical so it is important not just to pick the cheapest supplier but one that is trusted and reliable, you don’t want cold joints or setting at different times. You two are very brave taking this pour on your own, good luck
One vídeo per week plase! i love to see yours works. Hugs from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Hey guys I can saying so much, but I don’t, bud I have the highest respect for what you both doing. And that’s enough. It’s a big enjoy too see the progress. Nice greetings from Germany and please be careful both of You.
Such a great job! When you mentioned the concrete guys were talking with the police, I thought, "Noooo!"
Mvg. Marja & Frans
Hi guys! How are you?
I am touched to see your old table that is still there. Do you realize that on that table you built EVERYTHING in this property? ALL! You have used many tools, modern machinery and other stuffs, but your old table is still there... You must keep it with love and take care of it because that table is a survivor and has done so much for you.. 🤩
Lot of love F.
Guys so much prep work for the concrete pour. That is a very substantial amount of concrete to fill that in, hope all.goes well
I absolutely love your attention to detail. But I have to admit, your video has more dramatic music then Hollywood blockbuster movies. Can’t wait for the next video
Epic video as always, thanks for bringing us along this awesome project!!
Excellent musical dramatization, visual quality high as ever. Cliffhanger and drama included. Respect*
Pepe says relax, but has this ominous music over this ominous shot 😅 32:00
I cant wait for the finishing of this beautiful house...best of luck to you and Eugenia, my love and support for you two from Tanzania,East Africa.
what two videos in one month I stokeeddd
You build up the tension and then... the video ends 😂 meticulous preparation as always. Can‘t wait to see the finished concrete work
Incredible job Pepe & Eugenia! Regarding DNA tests, both my parents/grandparents are from Acores so I was super curious to see if I was 100% Portuguese. My initial results were Iberian Peninsula as well along with small percentages here and there, but over time your results change as more people submit DNA. Today I'm 90% Portuguese. 😊
pure portuguese, pure good people!
Go for it! Enjoying a lot
it's as precize as building an egyptian temple very very well done it's amazing
😆
I’m very impressed with both of you. Your attention to detail is outstanding! Please keep the videos coming. Can’t wait to see the final outcome of all your hard work.
You guys are fearless. I love it. Good on you!
The cinematography of this video is impressive, on top of the very hard work of course ! I can’t wait to see the concrete pour !

I don't usually make comments but I just wanted to say great job and after forty years in construction I give you an A+

Great job guys can’t wait for next video stay safe friends
Giant work for you two!
But it grow well as always.
Very good and hard work, your tired faces tell so much! 💪
Absolutely amazing what you have done. Professional in every way. Also, I love your video editing. Obrigado.
I love the way you’re so meticulous and anal about your build. Your worksite is always so clean and neat. You must be Asperger’s. ❤❤ Good work! Looking forward to your finished build.
Im on the edge of my seat! Fantastic job
Love everything you're doing!!! Thank you for showing us!!!
Oh my God, you guys... I am SO excited for you! I've followed your build from the very beginning - from the tiny house onwards, and it is SO impressive to see you both go from strength to strength. Bravo, and may you have success in this endeavour, just like you have with your other builds.
P.S. You make such a lovely couple, and you work together so well. My hubby and I want to grow up to be you both!
You guys!!! This is epic 🎉 The craftsmanship, dedication, passion, precision is beyond anything I have seen and such an inspiration what one can accomplish. I am just beyond mind blown. I was so stressed about the snippets of the concrete pour day. Can’t wait to see how it turned out 🤞🏻Wishing out all the best ♥️
Bless you to and your work. Much love and joy
Epic like the soundtrack!
This is what you get when two perfectionists join their forces... a perfectionism²
I still haven't understood why you made the foundation above ground with a wooden formwork. Wouldn't it be easier, much faster and much cheaper to dig the foundations into the ground and pour the concrete directly? Is there a technical reason for this choice?
I have thought exactly the same thing. Maybe the consistency of the soil is not the best to do it this way, especially when it rains. Let's see if Pepe and Eugenia can shed some light on this enigma. Great job guys, your videos are like an addiction, better than a Netflix show!
I think in this way, after disassembled the wood frame, they can put on a water and moisture seals (bituman, sintetic based) over the out side exposed concrete and on top a foam layer to protect the moisture insulting layrt and give an thermal insulation (two bird in one stone)
@@Galipolity Yes I understand your reasoning. But from my point of view, directly digging the foundations and pouring them saves so much time, money and is more ecological in the sense that you don't use unnecessary materials. In addition, the sealing and insulation is made above the crawl space, avoiding any rising damp and insulation of the same quality as in your method. I don't see any benefit to this approach.
The world is a global village.
Good job, I hope that old run down work table will get a clean up and find a special place in the new home. Absolute love old wood furniture and that table looks like it has a lot of character.
that would make a nice final project
Love to see this house taking shape. I know it’s gonna be awesome.
Epic episode!
can't wait to see the result!!!
Very impressive! Well done. And as for the concrete guys, it is always the same no matter where you are.
What an accomplishment you must both be so proud. Sending good vibes from Australia.
Epic video! Thanks for the tip about the collector and smell related
This is so exciting to watch. You both are so talented. Always love the dramatic effects at the end. ❤
Quite the cliffhanger!
I was nervous for you, too. It will all turn out wonderful. Have faith!
Amazing work, Pepe and Eugenia. It's incredible how perfectly done the foundation is. Can't wait for the next video. Great job guys!!
coming soon!
Amazing! What a pair you are. Such extraordinary focus and precision in your work. I do hope the concrete works out. I can't wait for the next installment.😊
Thank you very much for sharing Great amazing video Stay safe
Really looking forward to see you guys build your own house 🏠 Can’t wait to see the finishing project❤ Greeting from Malaysia
❤❤❤❤The best duo!! Magnificent work summarizing, capacity, effort, perseverance, conviction, tolerance, and many etc etc!
WoW huge amount of labour hours you already put into the construction! The end was a real cliffhanger! Can't wait for the next update!

Incredible work Pepe and Eugenia 🎉🎉. Your attention to detail can’t be purchased. The concrete truck being intercepted by police was the one thing out of your control. Anxiously awaiting your next upload. Best of luck.
