It's cool that he mentioned the dream thing. I used to really struggle with even riding the board when I first started (due to club foot and a weak left leg). Then one night I had a dream where everything felt super natural and suddenly made sense. When I woke up I still felt that way and improved an insane amount literally over night. This is the first time I've heard of someone having a similar experience.

This happens to me and they used to be “nightmares” id have a dream doing something that I did everyday, playing certain games, skating, warehouse work, mechanic work, these dreams felt like nightmares at first because other people described them as nightmares for example. My boss would always complain about having dreams that his room was full of boxes from work…. Over time having these dreams more and more made me feel “at home” with situations that were difficult or stressful.. this really helped with driving cars

@@GardenGuy1942 Sorry to hear about your friend, man. I'm sure trench foot is much worse than anything I've got going on. I was just explaining why it was difficult for me to start my boarding journey. My left leg and foot didn't develop properly and before I started practicing I could barely balance on it or even move my foot very much. I used skateboarding specifically to "man up" as you say and strengthen it. It was a brilliant success. Since then I can do things with my left foot that I never thought I'd be able to. Anyways I hope you're having a good day, brother. Peace and love! ✌️😁

The technical tricks this guy would do on stacked picnic tables and picnic tables stacked on the edges of rooftops and whatnot. He was incredible.
Now I’m 35 and haven’t been on a board in many years but I still come across this guy on Instagram. Watching someone that has at least a good ten or fifteen years on me in age yet continued pushing himself athletically in a sport I gave up a long time ago is really inspiring.

      @Chris-bw9bq Рік тому +1

I really need stability when setting up for certain tricks like nollie flip tricks or even when I push and my weight shifts slightly. I don't want my board to react to the slightest movement but when I lean on it I want my board to turn so I ride thunder 149s with bones hard bushing but I ride them like medium tight. The progressive turning of bones bushings makes my board able to turn good in the medium zone but not feel super wobbly setting up for tricks and I also don't get wheel bite cause my truck stops turning at a certain point.

For worn out kingpin locknuts that come loose because the nylon part that is supposed to keep the nut tight is worn out you can use liquid locktight or tape locktight the kind for plumbing pipes or even a tiny piece of masking tape sticked onto the top part of the kingpin bolt then installing the worn nut on there will keep it on there and not unscrew. 😊

I was on Thunders and then Destructos for a Long time, but the axles slipped bad which was annoying. Really loose trucks has always been my preference too because I think it gives you more control. I always wondered about his loose front truck, reminded me of a surf skate with the different truck at the front.
I love surfy movements and always have a very loose front truck with a tighter back

Those gulwings look exactly like the ones I had back in the day, Gulwing Flyweights in fluro yellow, Still have them on the old Smallroom board in the shed somewhere though the aluminium has corroded to heck last I saw and the enamel(?) coating come away a lot. They have the grindking kingpins on but I never had any issues with those loosening up as Daewon describes.

Those Gullwings were made of some real unique aluminum.
The aluminum was real soft and buttery before the curbs had layers of wax this made a difference as Gullwings were the original grind king.
You could grind out that little dent in a few days or less as they were so soft.
If I remember correctly they were the lightest trucks for a while with he 1st plastic base plate. The Gullwings plastic base plate was legit then TRACKER released the new lightest truck also with plastic base plate. However the TRACKER base plate was the original one hit wonder. One grind and you break your base plate. This gave the plastic base plate a real bad name.
I remember my buddy going back and forth to the skate shop to replace his base plate
I seriously think I remember him replacing 3 in one day and giving up.

Tracker Ultra-lights, I had those, eventually the plastic in the baseplate melted and the kingpin would move around inside the baseplate.

For a mistake, I once put smaller size of bushing for one truck while leaving big bushing on other... it was impossible to do a tre flip.. I did it, but it was extra hard to do, and certainly I discovered one of my trucks are "taking the whole spin" around itself. I did try riding a bowl and halfpipe with such trucks and it felt scary too. At first I did not understand what I did wrong and I discovered my mistake only later. Hearing somebody rides without bushings at all, seems weird.

I rode similar trucks as loose as his problem was they would always fall off plus was doing flip tricks was really easy and it went really high only downside beside trucks falling off was wheele bite trying to do sets u have to land perfect or u will slide like a surfboard

i used to bomb a hill with a skateboard that had rubber bands as a "front top bushing" haha, shit was wild, gotta have perfect control on your carves. some of the best skating, the wheel bite fear was real though for a while.

He talks about dreaming of tricks and then doing them. I was trying to learn both hardflip and 3flip for months and months and couldn’t land them. Both came to me in a dream. I walked outside and did both first try, doing exactly what I did in my dream. 😁 when obsession transcends reality you can do just about anything.
