If you want more Steeleye Span Christmas songs to react to, check out their album "Winter." It's their Christmas album. Not to be confused with "Wintermsmith" which was a collaboration with the author [of Discworld, Wintersmith, etc.] Terry Pratchett...
Really different from the usual style of christmas songs. they have made some great tracks. my best christmas track is probably one little christmas tree by stevie wonder, someone put it to a charlie brown christmas on youtube and it works well
Love this one. This song would be perfect in a room with candles, log burner and a glass of wine. Have got the album All Around My Hat which is brilliant.
All Around My Hat is maybe even more famous, totally different mood, it really dances along. Some of those 70s folk styled melodies can be nostalgic and don't fade.
Enjoying your Christmas selection and nice to see this Steeleye Span track get a look in. Couple of suggestions - Mike Oldfield - In Dulci Jubilo, Burl Ives - Holly Jolly Christmas, Judith Durham - Mary's Boy Child. Look forward to the next reaction. Nice to see you over the 500 mark. Congratulations.
Thanks for checking out the video, from what we read into the song, we thought it'd be a great way to break up the other Christmas songs 🎶 Thanks for the support also, very grateful to have hit the 500 mark! Hope you have a great Christmas 🎅
Guys, something that's out of the ordinary for you. The '12 Days of Christmas' is often performed poorly and many people can't stand it. IMO, the best take on it is in the classical realm - arranged by Douglas Gamley and sung by Joan Sutherland (two Aussies). If you appreciate the skill required to sing and perform - and this in an age when there was no digital editing, the speed with which she takes it, is simply amazing. It's amazing how many verses she can sing in one breath and there's the virtuoso performance of the orchestra (it ain't easy to do pizzicato strings especially at the speed in the recording). You can find it on youtube - just search for "Joan Sutherland 12 days". It was recorded almost 60 years ago, and and is the best take on this song, IMO (Joan & Douglas RIP) I enjoy your videos and wanted to suggest something a bit off the wall. Merry Christmas from an old fart!! .........??
@@Musical_Vault Spike Jone & His City Slickers - All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth is a classic. Way before my time, 1948, but well done.
to hear steelyespan sing this live was an incredible experience
Alan Partridge, listen to this,it’ll blow your socks off!!
Chorus:-
Rejoice! Rejoice!
Christ is born of the Virgin Mary
Rejoice!
It got to No14 in the UK charts in December '74
Amazing live band! Folk and rock fusion. Check out anything from Parcel of Rogues.

Such a great song, perfect way to break up the usual Christmas music. Definitely the most atmospheric 🎶 Would be a great album to own!

You probably haven't heard it?! Only if you've managed to avoid Christmas radio and shopping centres in the UK for the last 40+ years! 😂
Only an expectational voice and backing band could carry this off unaccompanied?
this is proper .
Hahaa, this is a discovery. A post christmas suggestion: Out of Touch by Hall & Oates
Thank you for the suggestion hopefully we can react to it soon.
I've been a Steeleye Span fan for decades, but you really ought to listen to the ANÚNA version of "Gaudete": ua-cam.com/video/rDT-fZTJl3Q/v-deo.html
Thanks for the suggestion!
its pronounced Gow-day-tay. it's the first word you hear sung
