You know the academy awards are a joke when they have not given her one. Her earlier work in Room with A View and Lady Jane is superb, love everything about her and everything she’s been on.
Helena is amazing, how can she stay calm when he interrupts her all the time! He finishes her sentences! So he could just do the itw without the guest! He is funny but he thinks the show is about him and not the guest. 😦Helena doesn't care and I admire her as an actress and her way of dressing too... , it must be fun to be her friend 🌹🌟

I consider her wardrobe choices beautifully eccentric. That is just my “American-been abroad” vocabulary. 😀 Interesting could be interchanged. I just prefer “eccentric”.

Just realised today I'd never seen Helena Bonham Carter do an interview despite being enchanted by her since I was a teenager.
Pleasantly surprised that she's even more wonderful than she appears on the screen, it's very rarely the case.
She's an adorable bundle of cuteness💗 in that brown dress, yanking it down while walking into the show, sitting legs up, constantly fidgeting and laughing sheepishly like a small child caught at some mischeif 🥺❤ lovely HELENA BONHAM CARTER (Host should stop jabbering)

Johnathan Ross is such a shite interviewer, rubbish questions and vulgar comments, and loves the sound of his own voice. Helena on the other hand, when she could get a word in, is as eloquent, charming and lovely as always.

@@patriciathewisher2315 Friday Nights with JR was always one of the best chat show host. He has always been very candid with all his guest male or female, he asked difficult questions and does poke fun at all but not in a malicious way. With todays overly sensistive folk I can see why people don't take a liking to him.
@@MojoMachin3 well I’m not an over sensitive person. I’ve hated his show for years even though I did watch it on occasions as he got good guests. Much like Norton. His interviewing of women - and he’s not unique in this - is markedly different to the way he interviews men. Plus he feels obligated to flirt with all women he interviews. He wastes limited time talking bollocks about how women dress, who they’re partnered with, etc. He has been incredibly classist and racist. Constantly laughing at people’s accents and cultures. Only person who was able to take him on was Dara O Briain who unashamedly pulled him up on his stick Irish jokes. I find him pervy and offensive but that’s probably what the masses like these days imho.

I know what you mean -- the overtly PC cancel culture that abounds now would find that name extremely offensive... Jonathan doesn't have those guys singing on his show anymore, since the show was moved to ITV from BBC. I guess he felt like a change.

Jonathan whats up, I didnt get though the Helena portion, that wasnt an interview not when speaking over the guest, not waiting for answers even, it seemed forced & rushed.. I usually like your style, not this time..

Soooo out of the 16 minutes interview the interviewer asked her about looks/outfits for 7:30 minutes, babies/marriage for 5:30 minutes and she was able to talk about her TWO films at the very end for 4 minutes. On top of that he kept interrupting her constantly. Please learn to interview women actors about other things than babies, marriage and looks. She is such an interesting actress. That interview was a complete fail. :/

agreed. Def big difference between tall show hosts who just like hearing themselves talk, kinds narcissistic, and the others like Graham norton who are skilled at getting guests to talk and guiding the episode without talking much. Ross is horrific as a host/interviewer.
Political correctness is a killer of fun. There is no offence in sarcasm. Poking jokes to test the boundaries of self-importance and a touch of self depreciating humour are refreshing. It is a sign of intelligence and healthy ego I believe. Or, are we so fragile that we forgot how to laugh at ourselves? Or maybe it is just an English/European thing :) ?
