LOL you're not wrong, but I think the insane price contributes to it's value. Monetary wise sure, why would you pay that much unless you had money to throw around like that, but socially the value is there. Oh you have a skin that I don't have, drop it for me. And whether we admit it or not, being the person with the skin everyone wants is kind of cool. The only item I've bought full price is the butterfly knife though, which isn't even shareable lol
