He’s a class act! My son was a competitive hockey player in Ontario. He was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at 13 and was gone 8 months later. Wayne heard about his fight and was regularly in touch with my boy sending videos with encouragement. Sent me his personal cell number to call at anytime. He made my son feel like a hero. Wayne sent us 25 signed pucks to give to my son and his enter team and best friends. The man is everything bit a legend on and off the ice. I will forever be great full to him. He really is the great one!
@@yeltsin6817 I grew up in Brantford, Wally really was a saint! He bought my friends and I food at the King George Road McDonalds without us asking when we were in high school. He had a selfless heart.
This is a true story, Nelson is my uncle and he told the family about this great young hockey player he had just signed . He said that talent like his comes along every hundred years and he was right.
Brantford - first nations players as a kid. Rexdale - west humber collegiate next to jamestown , tough area. This guy grew up stronger than most people.
I saw Gretzky play live. I assure you he could skate like no else I have ever seen. And then there was the shot. Wrist, slap shot. Didn't matter. It was darn good.
@Mik-xq2co Numbers are dependent of your teammates. Wayne started with Mark Messier, Paul Coffee and Yari Kurri... Mario started with Mike Bullard, Doug Shedden, John Chabot and Moe Mantha... Yeah who? A bankrupt team. And let's not forget Mario never played a full season. The points per game are pretty close. Mario's was higher before coming back from retirement. Take health issues out of the equation, Mario is just a 2.0 version of Wayne.

The Gretzkys lived around the corner from my parents house. Such a nice family. His dad was a legend in Brantford. So humble
They lived around the corner from me too.
Walter Gretzky should be on the hundred dollar bill
@@williamdouglas2717maybe you’re neighbours!
It was truly
Amazing how humble Walt was and so down to earth. He was truly a great personas was his wife

Gretzky's constant willingness to give others the credit for his success is a big part of what makes him The Great One.
Playing juniors as a 14 year old is crazy to think about how good he was at such a young age!

As a québécois and totally Canadiens de Montréal fan, I think Wayne Gretzky is the greatest Canadian in my lifetime.
Mario was better.
Same skill level but bigger, faster and stronger.
Mario was great, but stats, records, awards and cups say Wayne is the God of hockey and likely always will hold that status!

Terry Fox is up there
Gretzky is so regal
I'd always say 'ooh oh' Wayne is behind the net again.'
one dollar for a standing section ticket! How much is it today?
$350K in 1978 is crazy haha nice
$350K in 1978, is valued at $1,650,0000 in today's money. You are right, that is crazy for that time. I made $4.50 an hour that year.
Like Joe Buck even knows what a hockey puck looks like.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
His dad may have been humble, but Wayne certainly isn't...
His dad was humble because he didn't do anything other than father a kid, very little mention of all the other kids!
His dad would be ashamed of his pro-trump actions and his gambling ads to promote gambling addiction among youth!
So arrogant in real life
Based on what? Do you know the man? Everything I have ever seen and read gives an opposite view the Gretzky.
he shouldn't worry about his money, his buddy trump will help him out.
denis the menace strikes again! lol

Make America GREAT Again...... It was always about Gretzky
