I do play by ear, but I am also classically trained. I consider myself a somewhat sloppy player, but I know a ton of songs I can play without anything on paper. That gives me the opportunity to infuse my playing sometimes with unexpected chords.

I started at around age 9. I am now 77 and will be a year older at the end of April. I took piano lessons for about three or four years. I minored in piano and majored in voice. I lost my vocal cord in 2000 due to Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam, so I shifted from singing to more writing and a lot more piano playing.

This is piano concert No. 2 by Rachmaninoff. Once you listen to it, you will be hooked. It affects nearly everyone the same way. I'm speaking of the effect of the concerto, not of my playing or interpretation of the melody. Enjoy, This is THE piano concerto. Tchaikovsky was also a great composer of the piano concerto. Cheers.
