I was born in 1956 and was a teenager in the 70s. It's interesting to see how the ads became more daring as compared to the 50s and 60s. And colour TV was new then and the colours look faded as compared to how they are now 50 years later. Coca Cola had the best jingles and the one showcased in this video It's the real thing was and still is my absolute favourite. I have always loved Abba and was glad to see their ad, too. 😊 Back then the commercials were longer than they are today. However, the commercial breaks were only 60 to 90 seconds. Today they can be 4 to 5 minutes. Thank you so much for sharing these, I really appreciate it. 😊❤
A few of these are actually from the '60s. That Kodak Instamatic ad is definitely from the mid-to-late '60s, with those hairstyles and clothes, and of course the price. 3:30 - Casey Kasem does the voiceover for the Rock Flowers ad. 4:52 - Ken Berry for Kinney shoe stores. 5:23 - Howard Platt ("Hoppy" from Sanford & Son) plays the dad in the Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial. 6:23 - In the Purina Cat Chow spot, look for Mort Marshall, the original voice of the Trix rabbit, at 6:31. 7:54 - June Lockhart for Gravy Train dog food. 8:25 - Bill Cosby does the voiceover n the ad for Del Monte corn. 11:26 - In addition to Morgan Freeman in the Alka-Seltzer commercial, look for Eddie Barth and Michael Tucci among the other guys on the bowling team. 11:45 - John Erwin as the voice of Morris in the 9-Lives cat food ad. 12:16 - Paul Dooley for Windex. 12:46 - Herb Alpert's "Mexican Shuffle" is the music heard as the jingle for Clark's Teaberry gum. 13:26 - James Coco is the male shopper in that Maxwell House instant coffee ad. 13:56 - An integrated ad from Bewitched for Quaker instant oatmeal, with Elizabeth Montgomery.and Dick York. (Definitely a '60s commercial, because he wasn't on the show in the '70s.) 15:01 - Another integrated ad, this time from The Mothers-In-Law for Crest toothpaste, featuring Kaye Ballard and Eve Arden. (This show was cancelled before the '70s began.) 16:21 - Author Peg Bracken for Birds Eye frozen vegetables. 16:51 - Jesse White for Campbell's Soup. 17:21 - British pop group The Fortunes sing the classic "It's the Real Thing" jingle for Coke.
@@fool4singingeven if it were 1975, Jodie Foster would have been 13 (and at that, not until late November), so I don't think she'd have been the right age to be featured in that ad.
What a hoot! My mom had Peg Bracken’s hate to cook Cookbook, kids at school used to yell “Ring around the collar” and crack up. Morris the grumpy cat was popular around our house, and there’s Ken Berry doing a version of The Music Man! What a blast! Thanks for the memories 😊
It's so relaxing watching these old commercials. So much better than modern ones. I just love all of the announcers voices, they're so calming....and all the happy 70's people ! I think that the Coca Cola ones are my favorites. Everything screams 70's to me. I would LOVE to go back to those wonderful days ☮
15:01 - Crest - done on the set of the 1967-68 sitcom, "The Mothers-in-Law", with its stars, Kaye Ballard and Eve Arden, as their characters, Kaye Buell and Eve Hubbard.
We used to get our cat the food in the box. When we shook the box she knew it was meal time. 😊 Salty was a great cat ( our dog was Pepper so that's why she ended up with the name Salty lol)
I really liked "The Mothers-in-Law" (the Crest commercial), although I probably didn't understand the humor at my age (not that it was particularly sophisticated, I'm sure). I liked Eve Arden and Kay Ballard. I saw some episodes of "Our Miss Brooks" with Eve Arden, when some station showed reruns of very old shows, and they were enjoyable, too. The "Mothers-in-Law" got cancelled quickly. I sometimes think of the Mounds commercial. One really does sometimes feel like a nut and other times not. Truth can be found in strange places.
@@SteveZExplores Thanks. I remember watching "Lost in Space". They must have been reruns and were shown in no particular order. They were in black-and-white, but then everything was on our set.
Thoughts: 1. That Kinney Shoes commercial reminded how uncomfortably and unappealingly brown shopping malls used to be. While I like a lot of the aesthetics of the past, brown bricked shopping malls and department stores aren't a part of them. The places just looked perpetually filthy. 2. When I was young and would watch Cat Chow commercials, I would feel a great deal of annoyance when the people spoke during them. Stop talking so I can watch the cat walking back and forth.
That's not Jodi Foster, and not 1975. The fashion and styling is off for the year, and while that actress is very similar to Jodi, it's for sure not her. That would be her "Freaky Friday" era....
I love these old commercials. They take me back in time.
Thanks for watching
Love it!!!!! Please post more tv commercials! This is great cultural history!!!!
Im so glad you liked it, I will try to post more soon!
Classy commercials are so much better than today's and so entertaining thank you you tube for this kind of entertainment😊 love it ❤❤
Glad you like them!
I'm sorry, did we watch the same Lifebuoy commercial with the woman practically climaxing in the shower just from the mint scent in her soap?
@@tejaswoman LOL That's what I was thinking. I've never heard of Lifebuoy but I sure wish I could get me some.
Thank you for this charming look back.
Glad you enjoyed it

Wow I am so happy you enjoyed it
Creativity in commercials, music and film was at its peak, everything now seems to be a reboot or a remake.
Yes I think you are right, very creative back then !

12:16 - Windex - Paul Dooley (of "Strange Brew"). He was a writer on "The Electric Company", and the show's Paul the Gorilla was named after him.
Thanks for commenting
I had forgotten the Kinney Shoe Store ads!
Yes those were great ads, thanks for watching!
That was fun!
Thanks for watching
Commercials in the 60s and 70s were the best. They were just as or even more entertaining as the programs they sponsored.
Thanks for watching
You gotta love the irony of a red-faded Kodak commercial. I do remember those wacky cameras though.
Thanks for watching
Hey! Casey Casem on that Rock Flowers ad!
Yup Casey Kasem was Great!
11:26 - Alka Seltzer - Not just Morgan Freeman, but Michael Tucci (Sonny, in "Grease"). He's the guy on the left.
Thanks for watching
They may be corny, but i'll take 70s commercials than the constant assault of prescription drug ads on TV today. 📺
Yes I agree with you, those classic commercials were great
The Beefaroni family! I forgot all about them.
Yes some of these commercials are so creative and bring back great memories, thanks for watching!
My favorite commercial ad a kid was Freakies cereal.
Oh that’s great , thanks for watching
13:27 - Maxwell House - with James Coco.
Thanks for watching
11:46 - 9 Lives - Morris voiced by John Erwin (the voice of He-Man).
Thanks for watching
16:51 - Campbell's - with Jesse White (best known as the original Lonely Maytag Repairman).
He was my parents' drama school classmate
I laugh when I hear Bill Cosby voicing the Del Monte canned corn commercial. He has the same voice like he did in the 80s on The Cosby Show
Yes you are right he has that very distinctive voice

I lived through these during their original run on television. I thought they were so annoying. Now I wish tv today were the same as back then.
Yes I agree tv was so much better, thanks for watching

60's and 70's were the best for music, movies and TV.
Now in 2025, the USA ceases to exist on Monday 😞
Yes you are right they weere the best, Thanks for watching!
Didn't Lifebuoy make Ralphie go blind? 😂
Ha Ha Thanks for Watching!
Use the flash OUTSIDE, not inside. Your photos will thank you.
Ha Ha that is Right, Thanks for Watching!
Powdered Washing Powder that either had a wash cloth or a small drink glass in a cardboard box inside
Also classics brings you back!
