      I'd agree, except the Air Force had a big issue early on where pilots would fly their planes into the dirt instead of ejecting, or they'd eject too late anyway. While it might be possible to land the aircraft in some of the incidents. If you have a single digit percentage of incidents being unnecessary shoot pulls. That is almost certainly offset by the rest of the justified pulls

  • @EthanQ
    @EthanQ Рік тому +796

    Cirrus actually recommend and taught people to pull the chute early due to some pilots who thinks they can recover and people who looked down on plane parachute refusing to pull it resulting in much higher fatality in Cirrus plane when they first came out with parachute. Then once people start realizing "oh wait, i'm not Tom Cruise in top gun and can't fly my Cirrus upside down on fire with a wing missing", that's when the fatality dramatically dropped.

    • @fletcherenfield9474
      @fletcherenfield9474 Рік тому +21

      Fair, but I'd wonder if sometimes people pull it earlier than they really need to. Stall recovery is just about the first emergency response thing that pilots are taught and it's pretty simple: increase throttle and pitch down. If you're too low to safely recover it's dangerous, but otherwise it shouldn't be a huge issue.

    • @Ilovemyidi
      @Ilovemyidi Рік тому +19

      @@Ilovemyidi From what I've heard, on the new Cirrus planes doing a parachute recovery is fairly similar to doing a gear up landing as far as airframe damage is concerned, so depending on where the thing landed it can probably be recovered, repaired and take to the skies again, but not always.

      I hope in the next couple years to buy either a Gulf Stream, Bombardier, Falcon, but more than likely a BBJ 737-200. I am NOT going to choose based on the thought that my plane has a parachute!!! That also tells me that that plane has had several issues, which I would not want.
      No, I will go by which has the least amount of crashe history, get a plane with a low TT, hire a flight crew with lots of experience and ongoing training, and have regular extensive maintenance done on the whole plane! Any of my friends that have jets don't go off of it having parachutes. But then again, I am not aware of any jets with parachute, which is what they have.
      I will do all I can, but if something disastrous was to take place, it is what it is. You can't live life based on "what if". But this is just my personal take.
