  • In this video, I show you some things that have been happening here on the Self Sufficient Me Homestead over the past few weeks whilst I pick a ton of peas! Including our new ducks and a novel way to deter birds from eating the vegetable garden.

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane - the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let's get into it! Cheers, Mark :)

"Ducks in a bucket," sounds like a soft swear.

The little Duck had to show all the others how it was done!

Well, I learned the proper unit of measurement for ducks is "a bucket".

He's my ideal dream husband "type" living the life . I do some of this but don't have the land space or ability to do it all alone. For me he's like watching Russel Crowe in an alternate universe. Very enjoyable.

The baby ducks just put the biggest smile on my face - they're so cute and I bet they're just the softest. Love the little tiny girl - she's the boldest of the bunch! <3 I had no idea cockatoos were a garden pest, and those are BIG birds, my gosh.

She's may be smallest but some how she seems to figure things out faster than the rest...

I believe when people first search out channels on Yt for gardening etc. They are dazzled by big names and fancy channels. And then VERY disappointed when they try it in real life. I am ONLY spending my time with honest channels whom are truthful and show failures and challenges and honesty. TY for all you do and share! I truly appreciate your honesty! Btw..your parrots..not so pretty when they get your garden lol. I was LMBO when you turned the sprinkle on them!😂😂 I had a family of woodchucks take out my garden this year.. literally if I caught em woulda blasted a hose lol. Ty AGAIN for all you do!
