The cells are awesome! I've got corn, lavender, gogis, 3 types of kale started in them. More to plant! Waiting on a third growlight, should be here next week.
PLEASE HELP! How do you keep stray cats and other animals out of your yard/garden? My raised planters and all my plants become beds these cats won't go and just lay on plants killing them. Never seen an animal intentionally lay on growing plants like these.
I bought peas and beans as a support crop SNow peas, cuz they are great for snacking and a striped red and white Italian bean I am gonna dry for soups this winter.
@@nervousbabbs2769 would your plants be able to grow through a "canopy" of chicken wire? tack it to the edges of your planters so it is suspended above soil level. cats hate the feel of chicken wire as much as tin foil.
Note: if you want to direct sow peas, squirrels leave them alone if you force them to root about a quarter of an inch before planting. The chemical change no longer tastes good. Lost almost 2/3 of my planting until we started this method.
Do these more often, fo everything. A video for each veggie, or fruit would be cool
Working on it - want to do TRUE seed to harvests
@@epicgardening like your own seeds?
@@saragoucha5244 no, meaning he will do a detailed video, say for tomatoes, from planting the seed, training, feeding, watering, everything detailed from planting the seed, all the way thru harvest
I’ve never successfully brought peas into the house. They tend to just...find their way into my mouth as I’m gardening. It’s so weird. 👀
Same here.
Strange how that happens
Favorite
Pretty sure the same thing will happen in my garden
Hello friend how are you doing?
Ik this video is about peas but wow that chamomile in the background looks amazing!
Check my guide on it...it's SO prolific
@@epicgardening I did! thats why im growing some myself!
As kids, my mom grew peas. My twin sister and I would go into the garden to pick "pea candy". we didn't grow up eating candy, so this was it for us. LOL! I still love eating them right out of the garden.
You never had candy? Or was it sparingly?? 🤔
I wish I never was fed candy. Took me years to overcome my sugar addiction as an adult
@@Jaggyuar You say that like it's a bad thing.....
@someguy8273 Yeah...not only that but it's NOT good for you. So many health problems come from sugars.
I wanna reiterate yet again that you have inspired me, I recently went to the Walmart garden center to browse their clearance and found a half dead star jasmine for $2.50, and now I have a thriving star jasmine near my bedroom window. Never thought I could ever have a plant survive past a week, much less thrive. Thank you for inspiring me ^^
Glad to!
Congrats on successfully rescuing a plant!
I planted about 1200 pea seeds this year! I’m so excited for a big harvest!! Excellent advice as always!!!!
OMG
@@epicgardening 😂😂
@Growing Around Maybe she dropped a bag of peas by accident. Lol. I did that once 😂😂😂 Blessings 💖
Hello friend how are you doing?
And she's never been heard from again...😱
Sugar snaps are like candy for me. My brother grew some one year and it was difficult to not eat every one i found. Many ppl feel the same about cherry tomatoes and i think thats one of the best things about gardening, just grazing as you go.
When I was young my grandfather had a large garden in which he had a sizeable pea patch. He would go out and pick his peas for grandma to cook for dinner only to find I had eaten the peas, leaving the pods behind. His harvest was smaller than he would have liked but after getting hot under the collar, he had to forgive me as I at least was getting my veggies.
Awwww
who me?!😂
I used to do that. My mum always knew it was me .
That's a cool memory
Kevin! I hope you know you are actually helping so many people grow a greener thumb. When I just started getting into gardening I found your channel and now I have a small balcony garden! You do are so cool and all the information that you give is amazing. Love you and your team💖💖
So glad to hear this Isabel!
Word to patio gardeners! 🙌🏻
Sugar snap peas is what I like to snack on while in the garden during the cool season, much like cherry tomatoes are my go to garden snack during the warm weather.
When my sister's kids were young, ten and less years old, every time they visited my folks they would make a run for the pea plants and eat their fill. ^_^ What an awesome vegetable. :)
Our first Pea sprouts just came up. This video was perfect timming
This is SO HELPFUL. I literally just planted my peas :)
Same!
Just had mine start to poke out of the soil yesterday 😊
Same!
Yes same
Those nasturtiums😍
Gorgeous! I've got jewel mix and double cherry rose nasturtiums started. The hummingbirds adore them.
@@icouldjustscream aaaww! Shame I can't grow them here in Florida 😭 Any tips? Maybe I'll try growing them again...
You know you are a dedicated viewer when you take the time to watch a video on growing peas when you have no intention of ever growing peas because you don't even like peas!!! LOL 💖
I appreciate that!
I’ll do you one even further: when you don’t even need help growing peas because they’re already blooming - but you watch anyway just to support Kev and the team. 😂
I grow peas for the pods only. Stir fry with a little oil, soy sauce, chopped garlic, a touch of white sugar and a tbls of oyster flavored sauce. It’s really good. You can leave out the oyster sauce too.
If you don't like peas it's because you haven't eaten them right in the garden! I never liked green peas either until I grew them. Now, we eat them all before they make it inside.
@@catsknit23 that very well could be... the only peas I've had has been the "squishy" ones from a can or frozen... never fresh from the garden.... maybe I should hold of judgement for a while :)
MORE MORE MORE Seed to Harvest 🤩 These are some of the MOST entertaining and educational videos ever.
I'm so glad you mentioned the temperature at which peas start to bolt - I was about to plant some this weekend, but 80 degree days are upon us, so fall it is. I wish more pros would talk about actual temperatures and weather conditions that affect plants - it's very helpful information for beginners like me.
Greetings! I’m a beginner gardener, and I was scrolling to find this as a more in depth topic of conversation. So how’s it going for you 2 years in? Peas in particular have me confused. Firstly, I live in Tampa Florida. Right now it is a absolutely blistering heat 90’s+ in the afternoons. Very humid as well with our daily 3-4pm storms. I sprout all my plants indoors. Then transplant to small containers on porch completely shaded. They don’t get any sun and look great until I get put in a raised bed, they seem to yellow, wilt, and stop growing. Sun hits them from 1-630p. I’m feeling like they’d be better off completely shaded at this point. Not really sure what to try. Any suggestions, or tips would be appreciated.
Thank you
Love the Pea Obelisk with the bee house on the top. Super cool.
This is literally perfect timing. My first ever peas just sprouted this morning! Hella cool.
6:04, missing the celsius there :-). Healthy greetings from Belgium.
I just eat the entire pea pod on snap peas. The whole thing is sweet and delicious.
Me too!! So yummy.
Me too! I don’t waste time shelling them. This is our first year growing peas on our new homestead.
I am really digging all of the flower work you’ve done in your garden!!!!
I eat the pods too. My dog loves them as well.
@anand bagmar chinese crested
Yes please do a video on the bamboo teepee type trellis! I’d love to see how someone ties those up before I attempt to make one for my beans
You have literally the BEST gardening channel, I check your vids first now. Thank you for your awesome-ness, such great info!
Great timing- Setting out peas and direct -sowing over the next few days and this is inspiring. Also, we grow the last type of peas- drying peas/soup peas- one of the best winter storage crops. Would like to see the bamboo lashing trellis video!
thanks for being specific about planting, fertilizing and harvesting
How awesome are fresh peas???? I am obsessed and have like 20 plants growing hahaha. They are delicious!!! G’day all from Melbourne, Australia :)

Thank you Kevin for all your great tips. I am in the UK. I started growing veg last year and only use fabric grow bags of various sizes so your container tips have been most useful. Most of what I do is experimental so your knowledge has been super. Also it was nice of you to mention Huw Richards and give him credit for the rain pipe tip.
I knw this is a vide on on Peas, Kevin, but that Chamomile! WHOA! she is gorgeous! Great info as always , ty. "Blessings of Bounty and May Your Gardens and your Life always Bring You Joy, Inspiration and Abundance!" - Hope( & Mark)!
Love how you just popped up and started talking. Made me laugh out loud 🤣
Thanks for inspiring me to start a garden. I’m loving it! Never knew I would appreciate gardening so much. Trying not to go overboard!
Just planted pea seeds for the first time a couple days ago! Just starting to come up, it's so amazing to watch!
amazing video!! I love your rain gutter idea!
Eating peas right out the pod is one of the many nice memories i have with my late grandpa, great video as always!
I was planting some peas today and wondered if you had a video on them or not, I open UA-cam and you’re right there waiting!
I loooooove peas! We planted Green Arrow shelling peas in a make-shift low tunnel (heated later on) on 9-14-20 in Chicago. Some grew, it got cold, they died, but the babies plants lived. They just stopped growing but lived. Then here comes March. We warmed up in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. The peas took off! In 2 weeks...we had flowers. About mid-April, we harvested our first pea's. I harvested a bunch more this morning:)
Nice shout out to Huw!
Love his channel too!
Great guy!
Awesome vid! I'm just now getting into peas & beans and I'm soo excited to get started! Thanks alot! 🤗🌱🌞
I grew up hating peas. I had never had a fresh from the garden pea. Now it’s my favorite.
Hello friend how are you doing?
Great video for everything you need to know to grow peas! well done!
This was incredibly helpful! My daughter got a fairy garden that had snap pea seeds. They quickly took over the plastic garden so I took them out and put them outside with zero research and information. They are now producing pods! I found this looking for when it’s time to harvest. But now I definitely want to grow them again next year, but have a better place in my yard in mind to give them cooler temps and a little shade. Thanks, Kevin!
Those peas looked really delicious! Thankyou for another educational and inspiring video.
Another well done video, and I am SO with you on standing in the garden eating fresh peas!
I live in zone 9b, this year i'm going to try an early Fall crop, then some succession planting.
Wish me luck.
The way you popped out from behind the peas in the beginning 😆 I don’t know why but it was funny to me lol!
Thank you! This was exactly what I needed, I can’t wait to get started planting. Still a slight chance of frost in the mountains of AZ.
Great! Info was excellent organised and presented
Yessss I grew them for the first time this spring and I think they’re my favorite. Loved the shapes or the leaves and the flowers and it’s sweet tasty peas with protein
Thank you for this! I learned alot!
Thanks for the great video, Kevin! I noticed the insect hotel on top of the Tera Sculpture trellis. What a wonderful idea! No wonder you have no pest issues!
You're growing one of my favourite varieties of Nasturtium. I love the Peach Melba! So pretty
Good information on a veggie that is always a top producer in my garden.
Planting peas on Thursday-Sugar Daddy! So excited!
Here in Australia winter is the best time to grow our peas and lettuce. Just love them eaten fresh straight off the vine. Love your videos
I love your vibes man. Every video is inspiring. I tried to grow peas last spring and I got maybe 10 or less out of like 3 plants. Now I know what to do. 🙏
Love your info.
lovely - keep them coming
Very informative thanks so much
My peas just started flowering! I'm so excited! It's so funny, I'm actually allergic but my daughter loves them.
I'll be planting on friday😁 thank you!
great information, kevin. enjoy your VLOG and learn a lot from MO
I have green and purple snap peas growing, started quite a few weeks ago. Tons of edible flowers, amaranth, chamomile, sunflowers, and radishes! May not seem like a lot but I live in the mojave desert 🤣 so I'm extra excited about a little green in my garden bed.
how lovely is this man thanks cheers
I'm growing Sugar Snap peas!
Thanks for the video! I am going to direct sow some sugar snap peas tomorrow. I live in New England and the nights are still cool and will be for at least another month! I can't wait to see my harvest! Thanks again!
Completely agree with you on snap peas. Those are the only ones I grow. The flavor and simplicity is great!
Another awesome video! I had a good laugh when you tasted the pea!! Great content!
I’ve never grown peas but I have a bunch of seeds waiting! Thanks Kevin! ❤️ PS. This was my first year doing seeds and I have tons of varieties of peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, squash, and cucumber taking over my apartment. SO exciting!! My bf thinks I’m crazy cuz I talk to my plants but whatever 🤪
peas in a salad are absolutely amazing. and I love all your videos. thanks for being epic
Thanks for these great tips!
I put some peas in the fall and ive been harvesting this month. They grow great in my compacted, clay soil:)
Hi how are you doing today?
I just harvest my pea today, end of Apr. Great spring veggie. Easy to grow and no need for a lot of space. I grow mine in container sitting in a south facing balcony
Thank you very much especially with shelling pea information.
Thanks bro! I might do this!
This is a great video. Thanks so much.
My peas are doing great! I'm a first time gardener and Everything is going fine so far, right now they are cute little seedlings
Very helpful, can't go wrong with peas. Greetings from AZ.
I love your videos because I live in the same climate zone as you do (Orange County) and we have followed your advice and come up with some healthy compost and successful crops!
I’m growing peas this year, i’ll use this guide!
Thank you this was very helpful, going to save this to my library. Sowing peas for the first time this spring :)
OMG, I can not believe this. I am growing sweet peas and had every intention to eat it. You saved my soul. Thank you
I laughed out loud when you said, “there’s no point in bringing them indoors”. I grow climbing peas purposely to eat as I am doing my daily garden checks. They NEVER make their way into the house.
I call it the gardener’s treat; the equivalent to the chef’s treat!
I grew snap peas for the first time last fall. They came out great, and were so easy. All direct sow. I have more, about two feet tall, for a spring crop. I have been making monthly videos of my garden progress.
I stapled bird netting on a wall in my greenhouse and my peas have a field day climbing that thing. Its great. Nice vid.
Very helpful, thank you. Greetings from Greece ! 😎
THANK YOU FOR THIS I really needed it haha
Great tips. Wow 40 plus plants together. I will try 8 and hope it goes well. 👍
TY, TY!! Decided this year to use indoor grow tent & had to use the grow lights to for them to grow up, I didn't know you can't plant so close together. I only have 8 plants but 1st try
This is such a great video...thanks.
Thanks for the video Kevin! With Springs getting shorter and shorter (here in 7a we seem to go from Winter to Summer much quicker now) our cool weather crop season is getting tougher to grow bumper crops! Fingers crossed for this spring!
I hear you on this!
Planted snow peas with my kids last month. They are getting a kick out of checking on them in the evenings. Perfect plants for kids.
I got a mystery seed pack, planted out early summer to my suprise they were snap peas, highly productive and an absolutely tasty garden snack
Im in central Victoria Australia grew sugar snap peas for tge first time last year plant seeds direct into my bed autumn by the end of winter l had so many peas it blew me away!! My peas are in the ground once again have built a bigger support this year so excited to grow them again....growing them next to garlic again both crops grew well
Loved it.
I've been busy building my greenhouse so my peas aren't going in until today. Hopefully, it's not too late. Loved the video!!!
Me, at four in the morning: *minding my own business, notices the new video*
Kevin: *pops out from behind the peas*
My brain: *WHEEZE*
Always on time like the cavalery!
My vegetable garden started with sugar snap peas, they’re great for beginners! I’ll try winter sowing peas next year.
I’ve been struggling growing peas, thanks for sharing 🙏
Girl, get thee to Amazon. There’s a granular inoculant in a white shaker container. It’s absolutely bonkers how well it works when your first try fails. I promise you, it makes a big difference (since we don’t have Epic soil, heh).
i love snow pea or bean leaves stir fry or sauteed with garlic. Thank You for sharing
