- Since their introduction feral buffalo have thrived in lush areas of Arnhem Land in Northern Australia. The wild animals are a big issue for people who live on and manage the land in the Top End, causing extensive damage to natural waterholes and billabongs, destroying wetlands and spreading weeds. Traditional Owners Annette and Shantelle Miller say mustering the feral animals brings many benefits to the local community. #OutbackRinger

We're in a very isolated, remote community at the moment, right in the heart of Arnhem Land. The community called Bulman. Bulman is a cattle station town in the Northern Territory with a population of just 280 people. Annette Miller and her daughter Shantelle, are two of the Traditional Owners of this region. Well I grew up here as a young girl, running wild in the bush, living in bush shelters. - Розваги
Meat and leather. There is your money. Buffalo leather is beautiful and would make great Aussie style hats. Open a butchery in the nearest city to sell buffalo meat products. It will benefit the whole community... . .
Good on you Ladies! I live in western Canada and knew nothing about your troubles. You can teach a lot of ignorant people like myself about today’s culture amongst you. Thank you for sharing and I will be watching the other videos!
More power to them. Working the buffalo is a plus for them.
Oh, come on! This video is way too short. I was hoping to see some buffalo wrangling.
Wow in 1976 I spent six months traveling the outback and can't think of seeing anything but wild camels and roo's.
Good to see an indigenous community getting ahead.
I was fortunate to be a part of a team catching buffalo and clean skins on Bulman in the early 1990's. No one should underestimate that it it needs the full logistic chain to make catching worth while. You can get the beasts into a yard - but then you need to get them to sale.
That's the way get your own equipment and manage the buffaloes for your community, good luck with your future endeavours I hope you have success 💚💯🙏🏻
It is your land lady. Good luck to you all.
Smart woman, she knows its time for them to take the reigns of the buffalo business. After all, they are the ones that work hard for it.
A rare opportunity where introduced species could be managed instead of becoming as invasive as rabbits or pigs. Feral camels aren't discussed much though 🤔
I wonder if the numbers would support putting in a packing plants to process the meat and hides because that would bring the most value.Countries are learning a finished product brings more money than raw materials. If they were to sell steaks and hamburgers flash frozen and packaged in boxes ready to send to stores they would realize more profits.Tanning hides to sell finished leather and ground bone to sell for fertilizer.Nothing wasted and jobs for the citizens.
I was really getting into the story, and then it ended :(
So much food buffalo is beautiful
why not bring all those water bufalo to philippines. we consume a lot of bufalo meat. in Dagupan City famous delicacy is made of bufalo meat called pigar pigar.
Cow milk contains a lower amount of fat as compared to buffalo milk. This is why buffalo milk is thicker than cow milk. Cow milk has 3-4 percent of fat, while buffalo milk has about 7-8 percent. Very own diary farm in your own outland.
I wish them success
I thought they wanted to get rid of the buffalo?"
Very informative. ✌️👊
Why were the buffalo introduced in that region?
I’m sure it would bring in money and jobs if they opened up a hunting resort, offer guided hunting for bow and rifle. Then have a process plant and sell the meat even if only for pet food.
Good on them, turning things into a positive outcome. Good article.
All the best to your people in the future go hard
Crisis my behind. These buffalo bring in much needed funds and they need to be irradicated. Hunters travel and pay good money to do such. Its a blessing to these folks
Well, at least they shouldn't be hungry.
Um, aren't they good to eat? Start a bar-b-que restaurant and hire the younger people to work.
In India, buffaloes are usually chill animals. They can be wild but not feral.
There's nothing wrong if you can turn a problem into profits goats, horses, donkeys, camels, deer, rabbits, foxes, carp, tilapia, all thriving out-competing native fauna and traditional farmed animals, free range is best
Interesting this is where Chris Hemsworth spent his childhood.
Run guided hunts, you would make an absolute fortune
Great video.
Lions are missing to balance mothers' nature way.
Man, this is their land! Help them develop their way! America needs to help our indigenous people. We cannot judge Australia.
Meat and more meat. Buffalo steak, buffalo burgers, shoes etc.
I never tried smoked barbecued buffalo before🤔
Thats money mate buffalo meat is nice
when were buffalos introduced in to Australia?
Most animals that are introduced to an area become a detriment to the native species and a curse. Those same introduced animals also become blessings at the same time.
Texas is going through it with the Axis deer from India that are invasive and wild hogs. They compete with the native Whitetails for territory and food. But there is a large economy based on Axis hunting. So when the hogs and Axis go away, so does the money. Good luck. I would definitely open a Buffalo Burger joint in that town.
These are Asian Buffalo? I thought they were Cape Buffalo at first glance.
Thank you for saving the nature biodiversity 🦚🦢🌦🙏🏿
Let the people sell the meat. Thats prob good eats
HHa in Pakistan they farm the water buffalo milk them. The butter is white. Milk is good strong beasts. Meat taste good
