It's nonsense that the play calling was good but the problem was execution.
Having Hockenson take the snap and pitch the football to Dobbs to set up a meeting with the most notorious headhunter in this generation was one of the very worst calls I've seen.
If your car was in a snowbank, you'd have everyone push and have Brandon Powell steer.

Van Brocklin's assessment of Tarkenton was borne out.
Norm had won championships and didn't think Tarkenton would.
He called him a .500 quarterback who would win you games you shouldn't but lose games you should win.
Fran's career passer rating is about 80 and his career postseason rating is under 60.
It's a miracle that Tarkenton avoided injuries so it's hard to blame NVB for being concerned about his QB's penchant for scrambling.
Do some analysis -- as was done with Kirk -- of winning percentage against opponents with winning reords.
Tarkenton wasn't exactly beloved by teammates, by the way.
Fact - Darnold's problem with picks was primarily through his first 3 seasons. Kirk had a worse TD INT ratio through his first 3 seasons than Sam. Sam's TDs and INT ratio the past two years are about league average.
Most folks are locked on Sam's time at the Jets, and overlook that he was decent at the Panthers, including a thrashing of the Lions and almost stealing a game of the Vikes.
How many times has Hockenson had a full complete season NOT on IR ???? Since joining the Vikings ?
Last year was only his first full season with the Vikings... So... What's your point? He doesn't have a history of repeated injuries dating back to his Lions years. And the Lions player who kneecapped Hock last December, kneecapped another player the following week using the same tackle method.

I don’t think Darnold is that much of a down grade. What you lose in experience, you gain in mobility. I think he will extend plays in ways Cousins never could. Sam is going to have a career year. (Just like Cousins did under KOC).

Look we all know what it is going to finally get the Vikings a Super Bowl and that is a franchise team leader at the QB position sure there is very few examples in history of average QBs winning the big game but it's few and far between and not the norm. The facts are the best team we ever had was 09' with a true HOFer at QB in Brett Favre. AND as we Vikings fans have seen you can have all the skill position greats you want but you need conductor behind center to orchestrate a championship season plain and simple.

I can not emphasize enough. Dante had 3 good years. That's it.
Kirk won the division in his first season with KOCs offence. Before that Kirk had about seven 7 or 8 win seasons. Why couldn't Sam win the division - he has a better roster now than Kirk had, and it's year 2 with Flores with his defence now made to order.
Also remember that while Sam might be marginally less accurate than Kirk, he is also astronomically better than Kirk in the pocket and rushing. Definite division winning prospect.
