I really appreciate you letting us see behind the curtain on these amp repairs. I had to take my 1979 Vibrochamp in for repair to due to signal cutting in and out. I assumed it would be a full recap based on the amps age, but just ended up being a couple of bad solder connections. I am glad it ended up being simple repair, but it was helpful to have knowledge about what could fail.

I love it how they're like "smoke came out of it".
Never mind it sounds like absolute trash in like, 15 different ways.
Don't worry about that, just worry about the smoke. LOL!

I'd rather have bad sounding amp than house on fire. But I guess we have different priorities ;)

Yeah, it would have sounded bad long before any smoke was emitted.

I really like the ‘Finished’ sticker on the bottom right side of the board. That was very predictive. It will be better than new when Lyle has rebuilt it. It will be good for another decade.

Curious to see if those speakers are okay in the final video.

I bought one new in '93...I used it for 5 yrs then covered it and it was a living room queen ever since, should I still need to likely replace the caps because just because they are over 15 yrs old on the calendar, or is 15 years of regular playtime that necessitates replacement?

I personally have one from 1994 and to be honest , it still works and e erything is fine. It plays great, but a lot of people abuse shite and don't service an amp long before it goes up in smoke. I mean wtf, if you don't service it regularly it will go up in smoke like any amp. People are so bloody stupid like this. They totally trash an amp and the fucking wonder why it goes up in smoke.

Sounds like some one spilled their beer all over it.

That song was about a fire at a casino in Montreaux, on the shore of Lake Geneva. A scenario unfortunately repeated at a casino in Thailand the other day....

Hello is a De-ville similar to a bassman with 4x10"s?

Curious no evidence of what smoked. I'd be afraid it was a transformer getting hot.

What would be a decent price for this kind of job?
