Easily becoming my favorite reactor brother. As a biracial myself black/native american I caught a lot of hate and racism from mainly the two races I'm descended from, not other races. We gotta be better than that, and I'm saying this because I hope your children never have to go through that. Always appreciate your view on things that matter and most are afraid to speak on.
It does happen. My little girl is 8 years old and this past year she has come home making comments about skin color. She's at that age where kids notice things like skin colors. She's made comments about how she wished her skin was a different color. There was an instance she asked a little girl to be her best friend (the little girl is black like the majority of the kids in her school) and another girl told her she couldn't be best friends with them cuz she didn't have the same color skin. It broke my heart. That's one thing we have always said to her is that skin doesn't matter, we're all the same on the inside and we are all beautiful but it broke my heart that day because she didn't want to look like herself. She couldn't understand why the girl said that and I had to explain how some kids think that way because their parents teach them to be that way but in our household we don't believe in being better than others. What else can you do, ya know, just keep teaching love not hate.

I’m a 60 white male and has zero history and listening to rap. Your channel is fast becoming my favorite as you break down the craft of storytelling (Rap & Hip Hop) Mistakingly we sometimes define color and culture as the same and they are not. We should all be able to share our life‘s experiences and influences without prejudice and judgment to one another.
Every single word that he says is a powerful message and it speaks to us today. And it’s very hard to get mad at fact because facts don’t care about your feelings.
Grade A reaction. Tom is THE artist of our time. There are no words to describe his talent amd the way he has brought me to my knees with his words. Check out the song 'church'...absolutely amazing.
My first thought when he said "refuse to let you hate my wife and my baby" was the news stories of Senator Joshua Hawley and Trumps second impeachment lawyer. Their wives and children were threatened by people trespassing and vandalizing on their homes. There is no situation where that is ever okay.
Yeah I remember him when he was kind of just goofy AF. Hes gotten really good and focused that energy into something. I'm kind of like this channel with his 'sometoms I get it. Othertoms I dont' I feel the same way, I'm not kissing the ground hes walking on like a lot of other people I know right now. But some of his songs are on point that's for sure.

I really appreciate your breakdown of not only the message but the artistry and the tools Tom uses towards the end product. Best breakdown I've seen yet. Thanks man.
I did the same. The hate we're seeing reminds of the the Public Enemy, X Clan phase. Came to a point where it wasn't what I was and even my good friends started throwing hate towards me cause I'm white. Never made sense to me. Tom addresses it perfectly.

"I refused to let you blindly hate my wife and my babies" Loved your commentary on this part. This happened to my youngest daughter at school. I'm Scottish/German, and well aware that if I was any whiter I'd glow in the dark, but when my little girl came home from school crying because her best friend told her that she couldn't be friends with a white girl anymore, I was furious. Kids aren't like that without being taught. Who teaches their kids this crap? Tom's 100% right. "Not only is that wrong, it's a f***ing waste of energy." Much love to you and yours. Hugs from PA.
Way Off is a song that is his older style and is before he had his breakdown ( I think) and changed to his current style.. I love that song but its different than what he does now. I recommend that one
@@ROMsquad This is a copy of my other comment here, it includes the answer to your question 😉: Imho if you want to see the real talent hidden in Tom, check his older stuff. - If I change - Hour Glass/Who I am/Bout it (his Batman trilogy) - Wheels keep turning (you need strong nerves for this) The songs are in no way commercial as his songs are today, but a lot more poetic for my taste.
This House is a direct response to the hate he got from this song. It’s even labeled as “Whiteboy Response”. All the comments at the beginning of that video were comments that he received after releasing Whiteboy. Now that you’ve heard this song, I’d recommend revisiting This House. Having the proper context adds another layer to the song.
Music touches on levels deeper than skin tone. It’s the content of the music. Does it make you feel something, good or bad. Music that affects you... it doesn’t matter the vessel that delivers it. Jmo.

You want to start at the beginning. Dear rappers is actually the first one that blew up for him. That's when he decided to just start writing for himself and not really give a crap about what he thought the industries might want. As a matter of fact he burnt his first couple of albums saying he no longer relates to that person. Still some awesome songs.
i love that last line in the chorus. " dont tell me how to see it through my white eyes". basically saying that just because im white doesnt mean my opinions or views are any less valuable than everyone elses.
Loved your sincere reactions. Your facial expressions said it all! This song hit me in my heart too with how real and articulate Tom is with his words. You can tell he is on a totally different frequency!
Haven't seen it mentioned, but in the video you see the teacher trying to maintain order in the class. At the end, he folds to the mounting pressure and with tears in his eyes, he turns on Tom. Very telling of people who have been cudgeled into compliance.
RDiss is on point here. Articulate people do seem to make good rap artists regardless of race. People should remember that Tupac was a poet who attended a school for the arts when he was young, before his family moved to California and got into the street life and rap game. There is a reason (in my opinion) that his tracks were almost all great - he knew the English language and how to manipulate it. I don't care what anyone says - "How do you want it?" will be top 5 in my all time track list until I die.
It's subjective still though. Dax was also a poet, and while he CAN snap on tracks, he just does remixes to other people's songs. He's not very good imo, he could be if he was original.
If you want some serious wholesome ones I'd recommend "sober" "castles" "cancer" "I wish" .. I definitely believe you'd also love his satirical ones as well such as "buttholes" "straight white male" "everybody hates me" Then ones with a good message but are often misunderstood would certainly get you some bars like "if I was black" "sad rappers" "dear rappers" Keep up the good work and stay on that grind no matter what anyone says HOG fam has your back 😉👍
Incredible hearing your explanation about how no matter what, he will not let anyone's negative energy pull that out of him. Over the past couple years, I have been exhausted out of that control and have just stopped caring and just saying the word. I'll try to get better but can't guarantee anything anymore
Dig up some research about Tom. It’s fascinating. He used to write poetry. But his English teacher said he was rubbish at it. His father later on showed his poetry an expert who said to his dad: “His talent is amazing! Gifted even!”
In regards to Tom's pure artistic mastery of language I definitely agree. I watched his ghost story video just awhile ago and I can easily notice his poetic ways. I bet he could write multiple songs on the same topic and they would all come out differently. The bars that he leaves in his final cut must be speaking from his heart. The man is fearless and we need more of that.
Before He had His breakdown in 2016, the stuff Tom made was much more shallow contextually. He was going for the mainstream vibe to try and make it. But once He almost lost it all He knew nothing fake nor unfelt could ever go into His Music again. It woke Him up. If you want a classic that slaps: 'Let It Rain' is a rather risqué little number... ;) #HOG
Tom has always tried to be very sensitive to every single person. But when Tom did "If I was Black" instead of them seeing him trying to see things thru their point of view...they attacked him. Literally. Attacked him. How dare this whiteboy act like he knows what we go thru?! They didn't appreciate him trying to show others their point of view. They just went straight racist. I think it changed Tom. And I'm sorry. But I gotta say.. that's when I became a fan. I knew they hated him. I knew they were laughing at him. They didn't appreciate him. And u know what...🖕 em! They gonna hate u regardless man. Keep telling the truth. Let em keep lookin stupid. U gotta go react to "If I Was Black" they hated him. Grrrrrrr.....

This Brother Tom is playing chess while all these other fools playing checkers
He got it covered all sides
Eminem turned that phrase around in Monkey See, Monkey Do. He says "y'all playing chess, we playing checkers, cause you about to get your ass jumped" 😂🤣
He's literally like 5+ moves ahead too
My ex wife is black. I'm a 39 year old white boy. I feel the same way for our kids in school. Our second daughter is 16 and 1 of only 2 black kid's in her school. But she was the junior homecoming queen elect. I have always told my kid's that color has nothing to do with what you can make out of yourself
Don't send them to college because that will fu*k them up!
Exactly you get what you put in 👍
Sounds like you're kids are biracial, not black.
@@blam9360 so wtf if they are
@@errcamp7846 you offended because I pointed out they're biracial?? 🙄 Look, there's a rock behind you! I think you might find actual racism under it, quick, go look!
🙄🙄🙄🙄
I really like the fact that you pointed out that Tom MacDonald is nice because listening to “nice” feels really good to most of us right now. It’s about time that “nice” becomes the new cool thing.
Yeah Tom ain’t no fake woke, he’s actually AWAKE...like you!! Lol!❤️
thanks fam i appreciate it
Lol brainwashed
Like him or not, he's getting people to talk. Enough is enough. We need to unite, not divide. Facts.
Easily becoming my favorite reactor brother. As a biracial myself
black/native american I caught a lot of hate and racism from mainly the two races I'm descended from, not other races. We gotta be better than that, and I'm saying this because I hope your children never have to go through that. Always appreciate your view on things that matter and most are afraid to speak on.
But the media says white people are the problem...
The way I try to explain it to people and my own kids is that it takes all of the colors to make a beautiful work of art
White victim hood is hilarious, sorry about your little girl getting her feelings hurt but as a parent how about u do something about it rather than trying to gain pity in a comment section for a Tom McDonald reaction.
@@torrinbianchi5283 well obviously you didn't read my comment right, must be the hate blinding you. I was sharing a story, not looking for pity and believe me sweetheart I'm not claiming to be a victim. I was never taught to ever play the victim and I sure as hell wouldn't teach my kids to play victim either like some people do. But I guess that story really triggered your sensitive ass or you wouldn't have commented, God bless your little heart, learn to keep scrolling 🤣🤣🤣
@@torrinbianchi5283 white victim hood? Then there's black victim hood. You're just mad that black people are racist now and we see it
@@TraciKReacts Good for you Traci. I have a 5 year old son who happens to be white - and I'm hesitant for him to start school, BUT I found a more conservative school nearby who's founder used to be a preacher. I hope they won't teach this 'woke' bs in his school, but we'll see. I really hope your daughter is doing better...it's a shame the other girl's parents are bringing her up to value race as the end all be all.
@@torrinbianchi5283 the woman ,like a lot of parents in the comments, is sharing the story of her kid going through w/something just because of her skin. Don't be a racist, the term you used has nothing to do with the comment the lady made.
Words are so important.
It's with words we where spoke into existence, literally.

I love the observations about the music and the style as well as who Tom is on top of the reaction to the music. Ill be coming back.
Tom actually released this song while he was still living in the ghetto. He actually invited his neighbors over before releasing the song so they can listen and comment before he went public. They didn’t agree with everything but respected him. Tom is a genius!!!
I Love your reactions to Tom MacDonald, I have even watched a few multiple times #Hangovergang 4evet!
I’m a 60 white male and has zero history and listening to rap. Your channel is fast becoming my favorite as you break down the craft of storytelling (Rap & Hip Hop)
Mistakingly we sometimes define color and culture as the same and they are not.
We should all be able to share our life‘s experiences and influences without prejudice and judgment to one another.
My God. The more I listen to these songs and peoples reactions the more impressed I am with his message.
Every single word that he says is a powerful message and it speaks to us today. And it’s very hard to get mad at fact because facts don’t care about your feelings.
"Then you paint me with the brush you painted slave owners with" Love this lyric.
So glad I stumbled upon this site. Great job.
I like how you said "I'm not gonna certify your anger". That's a great way to sum up Tom's point.
Creating dependence, creates sheep. I hear what you're saying, I hear what he's saying. Real stuff man!
Love Tom, love your reactions! He has a lot to say and you break it down nicely!
Grade A reaction. Tom is THE artist of our time. There are no words to describe his talent amd the way he has brought me to my knees with his words. Check out the song 'church'...absolutely amazing.
Yes this is what we want. Tom is killing it.
Thanks for the content, and more importantly thanks for getting the message. I hope you’re family is safe and well.
My first thought when he said "refuse to let you hate my wife and my baby" was the news stories of Senator Joshua Hawley and Trumps second impeachment lawyer. Their wives and children were threatened by people trespassing and vandalizing on their homes. There is no situation where that is ever okay.
That's right!!!!!
What you should say is " we'll done my brutha " I felt the same way as you , Tom finished that and there was nothing left to say!!! Thanks Lisa
Tom is straight up a story teller. His songs are stories he puts to a beat and raps the story.

I really enjoy your Tom Macdonald reactions! Keep banging out the videos bro!!
Just now fully discovering Tom and you can clearly see the switch when he got sober
But some of his songs are on point that's for sure.
these are the conversations the country needs to be having thx man.
Tom's poetry was published by a prominent poet when he was in 5th grade. He's been a thoughtful writer for a long time.
Absolutely love the way speak... Keep that shit up!!! Keep them eyes open, voice loud, feet moving forward, and touch with the love....
This 50 yr old white boy who came up in the 80s and enjoyed rap but then had to abandon it in the 90s can really appreciate Tom's message, skills, and artistry.
Man you've got great voice to narrate. Thanks for showing us how a man can respect another !
He's had some big ups and downs in his life and it has really opened his mind to see so many different points of view. Comes out in his music 💯🔥
I think Tom tunes are a truthful honest old school voice he has such skills he is REAL talent love what he brings and you your willing to bring honesty truth facts much appreciated keeping it real thank you for your voice 🙏🇺🇸 God Bless
You’ve really kinda given me a calm mood while talking about the song. I gotta come back for more.
"I refused to let you blindly hate my wife and my babies"
Loved your commentary on this part.
"Not only is that wrong, it's a f***ing waste of energy."
Much love to you and yours. Hugs from PA.
Fun fact: the actor playing the teacher is also in Tom’s videos If I Was Black and Cancer...

Way Off is a song that is his older style and is before he had his breakdown ( I think) and changed to his current style.. I love that song but its different than what he does now. I recommend that one
For me it's his Batman Trilogy! So good.

@@ROMsquad This is a copy of my other comment here, it includes the answer to your question 😉:
Imho if you want to see the real talent hidden in Tom, check his older stuff.
- If I change
- Hour Glass/Who I am/Bout it (his Batman trilogy)
- Wheels keep turning (you need strong nerves for this)
The songs are in no way commercial as his songs are today, but a lot more poetic for my taste.
I started listening to ton of tom he has alot of albums. This beat and how from the heart he is just hits me.
"mmhmm, yeah, you're our friends alright..."
Amen brother!
Music touches on levels deeper than skin tone. It’s the content of the music. Does it make you feel something, good or bad. Music that affects you... it doesn’t matter the vessel that delivers it. Jmo.
Definitely buying every single album/song, and i have not listened to rapin over 20 yrs.

Awesomeness. I'm not big on bid words either and have to look them myself. Things are pretty mess up as of late. Seeing this and your reaction give me hope. "Cheers" my friend.
Dear Rappers was his blow up song 🎵 definitely do that one.
I really relate to what you are saying. THIS...is genius. And I LOVE how you see this for what it is....
i love that last line in the chorus.
Tom is not only articulate, but he has facts at his back.

Tom is a lyrical genius ! Love your reactions!
If you want some serious wholesome ones I'd recommend "sober" "castles" "cancer" "I wish" ..
I definitely believe you'd also love his satirical ones as well such as "buttholes" "straight white male" "everybody hates me"
Then ones with a good message but are often misunderstood would certainly get you some bars like "if I was black" "sad rappers" "dear rappers"
Keep up the good work and stay on that grind no matter what anyone says HOG fam has your back 😉👍
thanks fam i appreciate the kind words and the list of tom songs. ua-cam.com/video/U6mbWKKl9Kw/v-deo.html
