hi i have to do alot of work on 6 tascam 38 getting there now fold bad audio card just one only just note i have had to repair bad breaks in the main logic pcb age is getting to them you have a had t find model with the record LED 'S my 34 is is like your deck i have a tascam 38 that is play back only i jazzed a new logic pcb for it note used to have a otari 50 50mkIII it went very ill lost the deck big time when i was looking in to how the tascam 38 works i need find alot out i desolder al the bad logic pcb to find what is bad and started to put all parts back in the pcb is to bad to use it what it's a of i did find all t power trans side of the pcb is ok so i have the deck running with out the counter the used main pcb would be over £120 if i can find one and it could be bad as the deck can play 7 1/2 i am ok with it
hi i have alot of 38 i will say i have seen not right sound card in the right mk2 on of decks as you may know there mk 1 mk 2 audio cards you can tell by the big number on the cards first lot and small numbers for mk 1 i have seen mk 2 audio cards in mk 1 decks and the cards are not recording right or will not record at all parts have burned out alot of the deck out there are mk 2 decks i have 3 of each i know what to look for some times the copper tracks go bad on the main logic pcb i have a deck like this it's all luck what you get
Was there a Tascam Pro 38 and a consumer 38? What was the differance?
Does the tape need to be new for the calibration?
Could you do a video on bias adjustment for the 38 please?

hi some have played with the uv pot on alot of the cards is find R141 out of all the 60 mk 2 card i have only one lot was right
never play with it
