I'm a 66yo retired man, so I don't always identify with Taylor's lyrics/storytelling in quite the same way that younger swifties do, but I became a swiftie about a year ago when I fell in love with her amazing sense of melody, wordplay, and her music production teams. I hope you will consider reacting to more of her songs. All of her albums are worth exploring, but this album would be especially interesting for a therapist to explore. I would especially recommend:

I think a lot of people write Taylor off as one thing that is not their thing when in reality, Taylor is MANY things and if people actually took the time they'd realize that she is their thing.

Fortnight is not related to Fortnite, the game in any way. They are notEven spelled differently. But I love that you are listening to her; it's always nice to see people who have never really listened to her work listen to it. There is so much art in her work, and I feel that if everyone listened to her songs that were not just "hits" on the radio, they would grow new appreciation.
Taylor Swift's magic lies in her non-radio played music in my opinion. The writing is so gorgeous and unexpected that it makes it hard to turn away from.

Many of Taylor Swift's videos are amazing productions & most of them are concepts that she comes up with. I'd love to see you react to her short film version of "All Too Well".
I'm a 47 year old that always dismissed TS as a pop princess, but my 19 year old daughter compelled me to listen to a few of her songs & I was pretty blown away by her lyricism & talent. Now I guess I'm a "Swiftie". 🤷♂️

Great analysis! Lyrics are so clever. "Fort night" is actually a term commonly used in England for "2 weeks". So it's a reference to the 2 week long affair she had. The relationship she was getting out of is with a British guy. Love the dress. It's a Victorian Mourning dress. Mourning the death of the relationship.

Look up Clara Bow, this is who the song is based on. She was the IT girl in the 20's, was treated horrible, suffered a mental breakdown and died alone
My grandmother as a young girl was Clara Bow's next door neighbor. Clara used to come over all the time for a cup of sugar.My grandma realized she was lonely. She became a friend.

Because people are illiterate. Also, on what planet would Taylor ever write a song about a a video game?? Unless she turns it into a metaphor, but still very unlikely.
Most people have a low level of English comprehension. Same for the use of the following words - There, Their and They’re.
Taylor's gift for metaphor is genius level, shes also heavily into numerology and astrology and she loads her music and videos with those themes. She's very good at using color or lack of to express a theme or emotion. She also has loads of references to past songs and albums. Her lore is deep, I've been a TS fan since 06 and Ive only scratched the surface. Just note, there is symbolism in almost every nook and cranny of this video.

This video represents the breakdown of a 6 year relationship with Joe Alwyn & the long history of an individual relationship that was “forbidden love” - (Post Malone / aka Matty Healy. Then the opportunity to act on this relationship happened.
The white “wedding dress” and chocker watch necklace that Taylor is wearing in the psychiatric ward is same as those she wore to the 2024 Grammys - and Taylor announced this album The Tourtured Poets Department.
I like you noticed her world was in chaos, everything was upside down and she was shackled.
When the make up was removed, maybe she was showing her true self and removing the mask.
Then Taylor transitions to the TTPD wearing her black mourning dress. They are separate but their coloured energies collide and intertwine.
It was exciting, love, it faded then became confusing and “ruining my life”.
Confusion, depression (the black dog) and analysis of the situation takes place.
But Post / aka Matty Healy “pulled the plug” maybe to save her? Then they “ghosted” each other - unreturned phone calls etc.
Lots of other songs on the TTPD album relate to both Joe & Matty and Taylor announced at her Australia shows of The Eras Tour, this was an album she “needed to make”.
It is all autobiographical but no names are mentioned - but we know.
It's so interesting how young people react to this video and (hopefully) education themselves on the deeper meaning and original inspirations for the song and video. At least I hope you do! Also, watch Dead Poet's Society. It's a great film. Look into Clara Bow. It also has cinematic elements of German Expressionist film noir.

A lot of people still think of teen Taylor music, and dismiss how much she has grown as a writer and composer. Her current era stuff is some of the most intelligent writing I've heard. I wasn't a Swifty, liked a few songs of hers, but mostly dismissed her as the same as she started out. She is not the same at all, and now I'm very much a Swifty.
I've never been interested in her music, but I am now. I think she's incredible, and I wish I knew her. I bet she's very down to earth and isn't full of herself. Here's hoping I'm right about that.
Everyone that first meets her always say the same thing…..that she’s down to earth, friendly, kind!

This video is bits and pieces from the album….and she puts in so many Easter eggs that trying to make sense of the Video as one idea or as a whole vision will never work or make sense. If you listen to the whole album and read the comments from fans you will start to understand it more. I have been listening and/or watching this song over and over for days and feel it’s a masterpiece ❤

She’s very 80s synth pop, she kind of put that sound as the norm in mainstream pop with her 1989 album, before that the pop was very bubble gum sound. You really need to watch her acoustic session. She is WAY more talented than most give her credit for. She is very "dismissable" if all you do is follow popular opinion. Is she pop....yeah. It's about her being the bride of Christ but she sold out to the devil. But it's them both Knowing full well it's their love for the god of the universe and they sold out and are destined to play these roles but they feel remorse and are trying to warn us about the weather and Florida and how it'll start there... The end... As a country. It's very poetic and open in plain sight, but coded . She took the new aesthetic no body noticed.
