i went back to a casette walkman today and i enjoy just being able to put a tape in and let it go to the end.. im not being distracted by the thousands of features thats in an mp3 player and everything that comes with it.. the limited frequency range of analog cassettes is also comforting when i hear it
Yes. I am also interested in enjoying music from my old cassettes. I ordered an old walkman from an online store for 15 dollars. Hopefully it will function normally as the seller said. Can't wait for it.
that is awesome! Hopefully it does! Sometimes the band can be worn out inside causing the playback to be bad, so if it sounds that way when you get it it might be an easy repair
I still have my TMNT movie soundtrack cassette!!! I bought it as a kid when the movie came out, it was the first cassette tape I ever bought. Oh yeah, one thing if you ever buy a used tape deck or walkman, make sure to test it out on a cassette tape you don't care about first cause it might eat the tape and ruin it, I had to learn the hard way.
I had my mom's dual digital cassette player, with all the bells and whistles that was just awesome like when you'd fast forward, you could have it stop at a song automatically. And many other features. I sold it back in 2016 because life forced me to.....but it never had a problem. When one cassette reversed, deck 2 would start to play. The buttons where very soft to the touch. I loved the Dolby surround and you could record off anything plugged into the system. And even without the colorful equalizer, the tape deck itself had all sorts of lights. Miss the whole system so much. Oh well.
I'm sorry to hear that. I also had to sell things at times in my life that I really didn't want to because of life so I feel you on that. hopefully someday you can find one just like it and buy it!
Cassettes still hold a utilitarian value with that rich analog quality sound. I mainly collect vinyl records, however that being said I typically don’t spend more than 20 to 30 bucks on records. So I sometimes record from Spotify on my iPad streaming to my ifiZen Bluetooth streamer which is connected to my pioneer amp to my equalizer onto my vintage single well realistic cassette deck. And honestly the sound is very very good. The silver faced cassette deck is mid 80’s and adjusting the bias, it actually records very good quality and sounds very good as well. So buying blank tapes and recording these albums this way allows me to save money to eventually buy those super expensive records. And honestly I’m pretty happy with the cassette recordings as well. Cheers 🍻
@@jimbotron70 there’s a pretty cool sound and “layer of richness and warmth” that streaming music to my eq and amp onto the cassette tape that happens in the process which I really like. And I can play the music in my house or garage in my boombox or Walkman which my batteries last a long very long time and I don’t have to fuss with my phone or iPad every time. It’s also a fun short term solution u til I can save up to purchase the vinyl album. As most of the tapes I record are albums that are very expensive to buy. Many of these are audiophile records that are way to pricey for me. 60-150 dollars. I have to save up over time unfortunately. Anyway it’s just a fun hobby. I understand your valid viewpoint though haha, it’s just some crazy stuff that us tape heads enjoy.
@@theretrouniverse That´s why Dolby B, C and later S were introduced. Unfortunately none of the modern cassette players support it and a lot of vintage entry level also didn´t have it until the mid 90s, when it was more common to find it in a portable cassette player. Cassettes had to rival the CD, so they packed those tiny cassette players with everything they could to make it decent enough.
@@theretrouniverse They make a thing called Dolby that fixes that problem. But all the junky players that come out today don't have it. Several of my Decks have Dolby B, C, S and HX Pro. Tapes sound totally Indistinguishable from digital sources.

That’s awesome! Thanks for watching too!
Bro you're negating the advantages of analog by streaming via Bluetooth...

Hum? You should not hear any humming. If you do there is some serious electrical problem you may need to have sorted out.
Hum was probably the wrong word. I just meant more of the small hiss you hear from a cassette that you don't hear from cd's or mp3's
