Cooperation with Venezuela in trade and other areas should be encouraged given the fact that Venezuela is just 7 miles from away and we have always had friendly relations with them and despite what the US says, the Venezuelan government has been democratically elected. Joining with Venezuela in the Dragon field deal shows some kind of vision on the part of the TT government given the fact that we have to maintain gas revenues in order to maintain the standard of living that people in Trinidad have grown accustomed to. Imagine the opposition saying’ don’t talk to Maduro’. What Maduro do to them? The Venezuelan government and the US are at variance politically, but that has nothing to do with Trinidad. So what does the government do when it sees gas revenues falling? Go to the IMF or the World Bank? At the beginning of the news conference the PM said that Trinidad had to get permission from the US. That means we are really under the control of the US and we are not genuinely a sovereign nation. Also why is the government asking for help from notorious spy agencies (CIA, FBI, Homeland Security). The CIA has been used to destabilize nations. They don’t solve problems they create.
We need to fix our twin Island Afro Trinidad and Tobago citizens first. All other groups are doing well, thriving, being educated, successful people. Focus on helping that group then we can all say l am my brother's keeper.
What do you expect from a landless people who was enslaved for hundreds of years and was denied education for the duration?? The other ethnic groups that came here arrived with capital, education, skills and had access to land and opportunity mainly because of their appearance and immediately gained white privilege. Black people on the other hand was put off the plantations because they refused to work for food and board. They had to move to the urban centers seeking employment. It's no mystery that African people inhabit the east west corridor, they were seeking employment and a living, landless, broke and illiterate But I don't expect allyuh to understand when racism and schism is allyuh tea breakfast and dinner. Allyuh see everything in race, go figure.
Travel more and educate yourself or on this same platform you can watch documentaries about the quality of life in other countries around the world then come back n tlk otherwise 🤫
