What I have noticed down in my area every one has started going back to the basic riding mowers after zero turn trans failure 😮😮😮 They figure it out now 😊😊😊
Z530m unfortunately doesn't have drain plugs on the tuff torq TZT7-U. It can be drained, but you would have to remove the trans and flip it over. The z530r and z545r have the TZT7-M which has drain plugs. Very stupid decision on John Deere to not have drain plugs on a $6000 mower.
Thanks brother, Bad Boy recommends every 250 hours or once a year. I don’t put nearly that many hours on it per season so I change mine every other year. But according to the owners manual it does recommend every 250 hours or every year.
Best to raise the unit higher on the opposite side that you are draining to get a more complete drain. Save $$$ by using non Bad Boy labeled products. Hydro fluid for example, it's 20w-50w motor oil, use synthetic.
@@tonyjones1290 leave the opposite tire on, on the ground. You won't have to drop it much, just enough to get a good angle to drain. Been doing it on my Bad Boy for many years or put a floor jack on the opposite side with the spindle in the cup of the jack.
My BB Maverick is 2019. Took it to shop first two years for annual service. Haven't had it there since 2021 and.my steering arms are obviously needing service. I'm not understanding of the mechanism at all, looked and fluid level is just a tad low, I suspected it was worse as loose as the left arm is, and right arm seems stiffer than normal. Definitely needs a fluid change, but am I correct reading you saying the 20w50 is actually motor oil? I like this video, but unsure where that nut is you put the socket wrench on. I'm in house now, so will head to garage and see if I can find it. Appreciate both of your inputs. Ron
@@ChiefRRossIt is motor oil. 20W-50 is what is recommended. I use Bad Boy brand because my local Tractor Supply has it. Any good synthetic brand will work. The vent plug is near the top of the hydrostatic gear box. The drive belt on my ZT Elite runs just below it.
Thank you. Very well lit and helpful walkthrough.

I just bought a John Deere Z530M so I don't know how different it is. Good job on yours.

How often is this service recommended? Will probably be buying the zt elite next spring, or maybe at end of season.
Great vid man!

Where did u get the oil filter wrench?
@@twhit560018 Good morning, I got the oil filter wrench at Advanced Auto Parts. It works really well.
Where is the 2024 ZT Hydro fluid change? I can't find one should be one for every year.
@@shortribslongbow5312 Not sure about where to find 2024 model fluid change video. This is my personal mower. The new models may not have changed.

With the rear tires off you can’t raise the opposite side higher. Without the tire on the low side, it would be too unstable.

Duuu-de ,, there's 3 screws to each hydro gear cover ! . Not the two you said ! .
It depends on the year of your mower. The older models had 3. I’m not sure when they changed but my 2020 model only has 2.
yep my 2021 Maverick same as yours only 2 nuts on each cover
