I'd imagine theyd be centered more if he aimed them individually towards the same spot and then had them fire all at once. Instead they're firing straight from where they are so are spread from the start it looks like.

So, this is a bit late, but there's technically a way to do it. So, what you do is cover the front of your base with portals, link all the portals together. Typical return to senders. Costs a lot of energy, but defends against lasers and cannons and such. Them you need to put an extension onto your base and put down a load of flack and machine gunners. And now you have a fully tanked base, theoretically capable of taking any hit that will come through, and shooting down the ones which you can't take. Now, with good sniping an a couple of howitzers an opponent can shoot enough of your anti air for a howitzer to land, and then your portals die and they can follow up with a plasma laser and a firebeam, which will cut through your base, and you die anyway. Also works with missile's, but howitzers take a lot more hits, and thus are more consistent.
Yup, increase the rate of fire and make it a bit more accurate to make them worth using as a flak, but make the passive heat dissipation extremely slow, so you shoot them hot and let them cool down. Keeps them useful, but leaves some actual counterplay options for the opponent.

To be fair a lot of winning strategies in forts don't look fun because there isn't much of a way to come back. First person to deploy a game winning weapon, whatever that is at the moment, tends to win. In this case we have a gun that offers strong early pressure, but could be countered by counter-fire. It also takes a long time, giving allies a chance to help you out.
