The English countryside at the city boundary. Exploring only semi-familiar territory on a rare hike in the surrounding countryside. New sights at every turn.
Well, we can't say that our area is blessed with mountains, valleys, and great lakes but, with a bit effort, there's much to appreciate. Makes you wonder how many of our neighbours ours even think about venturing out.
I live in Belper in Derbyshire and my house looks out over fields and we have many miles of footpaths through beautiful countryside right outside our front door.
Lovely scenery. Did you pop in to The Green Man pub at the 1:27 mark for a break? 😉 Swan's nest! Very cool! I'd be lost in that corn field near the end of the video. Call out the search party! Mike is missing again! 😂 Turned away at the pub...I'd be in a nasty mood after those miles without a pint!
Wonderful. Like you I live in Warwickshire albeit at the other end close to the Leicestershire and Northamptonshire borders. The scenery is very similar. I always say all we have missing is the sea and it would be perfect. The River Avon runs by about 800 yards from my door and the canal is a little further in the other direction. I often go out intending to have a bit of a wander for an hour or two and stay out all day. Lovely stuff.
Thanks. It's true that there's a lot more worth exploring than one normally imagines. The canal paths are particularly enjoyable. Coming from Newcastle, I really do miss the easy access to the sea and the Lake District though. We make do.
Beautiful scenery, David. Thanks for sharing
Good edit Dave, you wouldn't have come if I'd told you it was over 10 miles.... you'd have been out on a miserable day of suffering on the bike 😅
Great vid Dave.. I know some of those areas :) lovely especially in the summer months :) Pete

You also have some fine hills. Lucky bugger.

The Green Man? Indeed, but merely for a coffee. It was early. 🤨
Hard doing the last few miles without a pint.
Looks like a lovely walk and how great to see the swans. Why were you turned away from the pub ?
Was told there was a private event on. Bloody livid!
