This was the last broadcast of All Star Blitz, and for the master of the Blitz board Peter Marshall after an 8 and a half month run on ABC. And Charles Nelson Reilly who appeared on the series finales of Match Game in 1982 and The Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour in 1984, made the series finale of All Star Blitz like Game Show Network's 8 hour Y2Play Marathon he hosted on December 31, 1999, and showed how 16 game shows ended their own runs with their own series finales. RIP Charles Nelson Reilly 1931-2007.
Not too many people know, but the show was originally called "Puttin' on the Blitz" and was even called that on tv ads on ABC before the show's premiere. I'm assuming the title was changed because the weekly syndicated lip sync competition show "Puttin' on the Hits" debuted in the fall of '84 and Dick Clark Productions didn't like the similar titles.
RIP Peter Marshall, a legend
This show could've had at least one more year. Great show.
