    I bought the same device here in Holland. And I have the same issue with the keyboard. The 2 upper lines of the keys are jumping / flexing when a key in that area is pressed. After a long search on UA-cam I found you're video mentioning the same problem. I have now bought the HP Pavilion X2 10 inch, which can of course not be compared, but the battery live is much longer, the keyboard doesn't suffer the flexing issue and it is 400 euro's (445 dollar cheaper).The screen size is smaller but I bought a micro USB cable and use a monitor as a secundairy screen. It's a real dissapointment that the didn't put some extra plastic holders underneath the keyboard and tested it (Quality control). I found it before I discoverred the not accidentical keyboard flexing a perfect Macbook 12 inch alternative, althrough it doesn't have a backlit keyboard. thanks for you're review.

      I already shipped it back to Microsoft, sorry. I tried the same one with Atom CPU yesterday in a local store and keyboard was much better, although still not perfect. I have read somewhere that it does not support SDHC at all, so try with a small

    UPDATE: We have replaced it with 13.3 inch HP Spectre x360 for $750 (after some discounts during holidays), but with Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD, and 13.3 inch touchscreen with resolution of 2560 x 1440. It costs more but it is definitely worth it!
    UPDATE2: Spectre x360 burned; motherboard repair was $500

    The review mentions minor issues. I would still buy this (it's available for 200$), but sound might be a deal breaker. I was having high hopes for the front facing B&O speakers. I can't imagine they are worse than in standard laptop.
    I need sth for playing media to a child. Tent and stand mode are a must. This is why I can't use Dell 5175.
    I was considering ThinkPad Yoga 12, but active cooling with worse gaming performance are a downside. I also like USB C charger. I can power this up even in a car.

      For that money get it. Sound is definitely worse than any other laptop I used, even worse than most phones, but maybe it is good enough for you use (and I never confirmed if there was maybe something wrong with the specific device I received). You can also return it if you end up thinking it is not worth it, but it is a full windows 10 machines able to run anything so it is definitely more useful than any tablet you can buy for that money

    Would this HP be worth it for a clearance price of $330? Anything else on the market for that cheap that is comparable? Thank you.

    I also opened the keyboard bij removing the rubber strips and Tiny silver circles below the keyboard on the screws. It was a very time consuming job. Even a fingernail put's of soms silver from the connected parts.
    when finaly insite, I saw that the keyboard inside was closed with plastic moulded plugs (60 or so). There is no hope solve the keyboard flex. After carefully puschng back the 2 parts. of the keyboard dock together,v I retouched the White scratches with a silver permanent markerwnd sended it back.

    You keep refering to price, but for some weird reason you dont say the price??
    that makes it impossible to put your points into perspective and all the others your comparing to, where you do list the price for these?? but not for the main product in the video' wtf??..
    dear channelholder there are soem basic things, you need to tell your viewers before anything, not least what you paid for the device... you dont watch your own videos before you release them??

      Sorry, I'll keep that in mind for future videos. I'm not sure though how relevant it would be today, as this was 3 years ago, so the price of $800 for that laptop back then would be insane today. I'd stay away from this product and just get the new Surface Pro 7, as those two are not even comparable

      @@Tech-Guy yes, but often people come by these older videos when they see it on a clearence sale and then go on youtube to seach for review of that exact unit and here it is often very helpfull to get an idea of inner value in stores back then.. at least that was my case.when i saw it for clearence sale... here in Denmark it is often even more pricey after tax and + 25% VAT on top of these items... but some of the big regional vendors here are clearing old stock so trying to make sense of it all :-/.. just purchased two 2-1 ultrabook, though cheap with 2 year warrenty.. one Porsche Book and 1x Microsoft Book.(gen1 base version) Im not an PC gamer, I useally game on the Xbox X to take advantage of HDR atmos etc and on big OLED screen' so I reckon i can live without dedicated GPU ... thx for the respon and otherwise good video with pro & cons on this limited HP budget fellow.

    Are you only looking for a detachable? I recently bought a used Yoga 14 to replace my wife's Thinkpad x41t and we like it a lot. I was thinking the Acer Alpha Switch 12 also looks intriguing but I personally wanted a TrackPoint so Lenovo was the way to go. A 12 inch Yoga might also be an option.

    • @seidlerable
      @seidlerable 7 років тому

      Oh and obviously build and keyboard quality are perfect on the Yoga.

    I tried one of these in a Microsoft Store and the trackpad was garbage and multitouch was not working at all. The sound was the biggest disappointment. I could hardly hear it at all in the store at max volume. There was a surface pro next to it that had much more robust sound. I had high hopes for this device, but unfortunately it is just not up to my needs.

      We expected to much from the laptop of this price. I mean the phones are more expensive than that. I have realized that under $800 we can not expect anything decent, and laptop should be something more expensive than the phones we are carrying.

    • @Tech-Guy
      @Tech-Guy  8 років тому +1

      Nothing yet. After I brought 12inch laptop from work for her to use for a few days, she decided that 12 inch is also too small for daily use. After my wife tried Spectre x360 with 6-th gen Core i5 and missed the deal to get it for $725 she decided to wait until it gets around $800 again. If you want something cheaper with the same m3 CPU as X2, but better build quality, better keyboard, then get ASUS UX360CA (it is 13 inch). Otherwise, right now you have a deal for 12 inch Surface Pro 4 with keyboard and Pen in Costco for $850.

    Hi, I've got one of these - from the Microsoft store - and its generally not awful for media consumption - but I've got a question, it has some annoying lockups with Microsoft Edge that would make it hard as a day to day machine. I'm hoping to upgrade the RAM on this from the base 4 GB. Some of my research suggests this is possible. I cannot find a manual or a good video on how to disassemble the tablet portion of this unit. Any suggestions? Thank you - great video!

    • @Tech-Guy
      @Tech-Guy  7 років тому

      Hi Michael. For me the volume was sound quality was fine, but my wife had other expectatations. You can find almost all HP disassemble manual on h22235.www2.hp.com/hpinfo/globalcitizenship/environment/productdata/disassemblynotebook-o.html
      and it is pretty easy for these new machines, buy I would check first if ram is the issue, as websites should not be able to take all memory. I use firefox and when I get to 70 tabs it can reach 1.3GB, and then the swap takes over but it still works. I suggest you disable flash. Monitor in task manager the ram usage for edge first

    • @mobrie01
      @mobrie01 7 років тому +1

      Thanks for the information! I was able to (carefully) get the main unit open without destroying anything (I'm pretty sure.) Unfortunately, it turned out that the RAM is built into the main processor board, so there is no way to upgrade it. Disappointing. For those that are interested though. The SSD is of the "stick" variety and is readily accessible once you get the chassis open. Were you inclined to put a larger drive in, it wouldn't be overly difficult. But, as mentioned, its probably cheaper and easier to just put a low profile USB drive into one of the ports. Thank you again! (Now I have to talk my wife into shipping back that RAM I had her buy me for Christmas...)

    • @Tech-Guy
      @Tech-Guy  7 років тому

      Michael O'Brien Thanks for letting me know. I guess they had to make some compromises to fit everything into that thin housing. Most people don't upgrade RAM so they may have though that it would be a place to reduce costs. It is good to have a replaceable M.2 drive.

      So at the end the choice was the HP Spectre x360 for $750 after some discounts, but with Core i7, 8GB RAM, 256GB M.2 SSD, and 13.3 inch touchscreen with resolution of 2560 x 1440. It costs more but it is definitely worth it

      Get Intuos Art, Intuos Comic, or Intuos Photo, depending on which software you want with it. You would be missing the tilt and eraser on the back of the pen, but most artists I know don't use tilt, and for eraser they have a shortcut key.

    • @Tech-Guy

      Between those two, I would rather get a pavillion x360. If you want something lighter with the same CPU as this one, I would suggest checking ASUS UX360CA
