I remember a long time ago , 2001 i think , a Greek Magazine called 0-300 , had a feature about a VTR 1000 SP2. The article had the title "God's VTR" and the foreamentioned VTR had Dymag magnesium wheels, a dual set of Akrapovic and an air filter I think , new brakes with 6 pistons by AP Racing and carbon pieces here and there etc. The prices for those accessories were high , I mean really high, the owner said that he stopped counting after sth like 20000 euro or more. That was the time that I've fallen in love with those excellent V2's from Honda and even the stock model has aged nicely.
Love this review. You have captured the spirit of the SP-1 perfectly, Uncomfortable Bike. OMG What a Bike. I lusted after one for many years, the only bike that could possibly replace my VTR1000F. Now I have one, there's no looking back... (it hurts my neck).
Great review. I had the opportunity to ride an SP1 in streetfighter form ones. It was as brutal as you say. The bike sings for you with the beautifull V2 booms and gear driven cam whine.
Can't say that its it's my kind of bike because I'm to long in the legs and way too long in the tooth now maybe twenty year's ago , but it looks like it would have been fun a to ride . great review as always

Εξαιρετική παρουσίαση! Απίστευτη μηχανή!! Honda είναι αφού. Ηχος... Συναυλία των Zeppelin... Θα ήταν χρήσιμη και μια παρουσίαση για CBR 600 F σε τι στυλ θα την έβαζες; Super Sport ή Sport Touring.. Με διχάζει λίγο είναι η αλήθεια αν και τείνει στο 1ο.. Νομίζω έχει ζουμί η συγκεκριμένη μότο.
Excellent! I love the VTR since I saw for the first time in Barcelona Moto expo in 1999. It is a supersexy bike. I also love Aprilia RSV due, wich is similar in concept.
As always a very honest and funny review. Can I ask you how tall you are? Put another Seat on it and its a bit comfortable. Looking for a second bike for daily driving on a higher speed. Bike looks good on you. I want one! Keep up the good work! Can you also do a review on the suzuki sv1000?

Τα μηχανάκια κάποια στιγμή δεν μπορούν ν ανεβάσουν άλλες στροφές και δυσανασχετούν , αυτός δεν είναι κόφτης . Αυτό το μηχανάκι , μ αυτές της επιδόσεις (έστω κι αν είναι μακρύ) που βγήκε απ της γέφυρες με 200+ με ποιο άλλο δικύλινδρο χιλιάρι δεκαπενταετίας θα μπορούσε να συγκριθεί .... τα ducati , τα SV , το RS με τι ?
Άσχετα πάντως απ ότι σχετικά με το μηχανάκι , είναι χαρά μου που βλέπω πως παρατηρείτε τα ανοίγματα που κάνουμε στα μηχανάκια και δεν πάει χαμένος ο κόπος μου .

Αλλά επειδή είναι 1000 μπαίνει στον χορό τον 1000 και εκεί χάνει από τα υπόλοιπα τετρακυλιδρα ..άδικως Ναι μεν.. Εγώ πιο πολύ Το είπα ότι είναι 130 άλογα..Και δεν μου φάνηκε τόσο μακρύ το σασμαν..σε σχέση με ρ1 του 200 που ας πούμε ότι είναι ίδια τεχνολογίας..άσχετα τα παραπάνω άλογα..

Had this bike,made 50+km i a little over a year.I find it as one of the most beautifull bikes from Japan.BUT,they do overheat,they are heavy,thirsty and slow.When they overheat they loose power,And since they are heavy they cook the brakes .Very expensive to tune,and parts are difficult to find.That was why i sold it,and the weird thing is that despite all these negatives i still miss it.And she souns like nothing else
my bikes never over heated ? had it over 9 years and the brakes are good OEM are better than what you will find fitted to a brand new gsxr 1000 ! i know this as i had a set fitted for a few months
@@simonmallia2051 when i said overheat i meant that the temp gets really high, and these motors spray more fuel at that high temps in order to cool it down (i think they start to spray from 95c upwards) Bear in mind that we have temp of 40c plus furing summer. And as far as brakes are concerned, it depends how much you push it. From all the bikes i had do far and worked ok, the sp brakes are above average, but nothing special. And on the gsxr's they never manage to make them stop. Except the new one i dont know about that one
@@bikeserv i have a sp2 and its mapped with a pci3 the sp1 is reported to be twitchy i did not think the fueling was temperature dependent as it is fitted with a fast idle that leads me to believe the bikes eco is unaware of its temp? i do how ever agree with the brakes being above average . thats not to say theres not room for improvement .. i just think that i need to go with the kit calipers as most others are either on par or a down grade as for the new gixxer it might say brembo on the side but its not a brembo gp4 ,rr thats for shore !
@@simonmallia2051 there are adaptors were you can install radial calipers, and that way you have better choices(and cheaper) i also had id mapped, exhaust, flapper mod, tried the soft rev limiter removal but didn't like it, and i removed all the secondary timing gears
@@bikeserv it sounds like you had a bad experience :(we don't have the soft rev limiter fitted to the uk bikes .. i have all the flapper pairs blocked off for years and i did have the radial caliper brackets to a set of 108 brembos but i switched to Öhlins fg322 forks that have different brackets so i had no choice but to refit the nissin ... i will get cnc calipers eventually thanks for the heads up tho
Same V-Twin engine as the VTR100 Firestorm, but with gear-driven valves, built to go up against those pesky Ducatis in the World Superbike Championships. (which it won in 2000, and again in '02 with the SP-2). The SP-1 and SP-2 were hand-built in Nippon。That's right, hand-built. The engine can be tuned to hell and is still be as reliable as a ball-peen hammer. Those wanting the performance alongside reliability and comfort can opt for the Varadero; it has basically the same side-radiator-mounted engine albeit in a sorryish state of tune.
what's the same as the firestorm? tune a that motor past 150 bhp and its going to pop quick.... as for Varadero your off your nut... wow you have typed some misleading shit here... also about that hand-built in Nippon ?... try Hamamatsu plant in Japan. FFS
