It's also pretty accurate to say that they raced to the Titanic. This is the second time today that I've cried over RMS Carpathia so forgive me for this little rant. The Carpathia was only meant to go a top speed of like 14 knots. But the passengers and crew turned their heat off to redirect the power to propelling the ship forward. They managed to get her going 17 knots and they sustained that speed even after the Titanic went dark. The passengers put themselves on duty to collect supplies to tend to the survivors and acted as additional iceberg spotters as the ship hurtled at faster than the recommended top speed to try to get to the people on the Titanic. This event is said to have permanently damaged Carpathia's engines. Those sweet dedicated people essentially redlined a steamboat for hours across miles of hazardous seas to answer the Titanic's distress calls.

they were sleeping, let alone ignored them sadly :/ the Californian did warn them to slow down, but in the movie what is said to be true, the main guy who built the ship wanted to make headlines by getting there a day early, and convinced the Captain to go faster, which sadly he did :( . if he had not listened and didn’t care about headlines, im sure all 1,500 passengers would have survived

Wrong literally all the ships including the olympic were rushing to titanic's aid but the carpathia was close so it reached earlier. Even the olympic said that it will take the survivors from carpathia but the captain denied.

there were 2 ships near titanic: RMS Carpathia and SS Californian. SS Californian was the closest to Titanic the survivors said that they saw a light in a distance and it was clearly a ship. SS Californian would have got to titanic 1-2 hours before RMS Carpathia but SS Californian stood at its place. People say its wireless communication signals were turned off.
People from SS californian apparently saw white arrows but they were red so they ignored it because they thought that such a rich ship as titanic must have red arrows and titanic didn't .......

The Olympic (which was further away) was gonna make an attempt to get to the Titanic but the Carpathia's captain advised Haddock not to show up on the scene so that the passenger's wouldn't panic upon seeing an identical ship

Fun fact: The "Californian" were closer, but his signal operator told Titanic that there was an iceberg field, but Titanic didn't cared and the californian signal operator went to sleep, so, when the titanic were sinking, Californian captain saw the fireworks from the Titanic, he tried to use lights as morse code, but titanic didn't answered and californian captain went to sleep too, when the signal operator heared about titanic sinking, he told it to the captain and tried to go to help, but it were so late (They arrived at the Titanic's last location at 8:30AM)
Sad fact: The S.S California was actually closer to titanic than carpathia so one of the crew members on the California woke the captain but the captain was angry at the crew member for doing so and when the crew member said he saw distress flairs the captain said “It’s probably just fireworks go back to sleep”. After the news of Titanic broke out, the crew of the California was extremely angry with the captain. The captain of the S.S California was later fired from Cunard and arrested for man slaughter.
