I love my CBR500R, as a commuter bike non other is needed. The ergonomics are to a point comfortable. The suspension could be more firm, the brake could have more bite and the horsepower could be a bit greater say 60 - 65, but that's about it. Looks are superb. 😎👍
My r3 taps out at 189kph completely stock. I was thinking the cbr500 can do better than that. Man you have to remove the restrictor on your throttle to unleash the true power of your bike.😆 nice vid though
I really want this bike, but i don't like being on the right side with 170 and seing every mercedes/BMW/Porsche ect passing by with 240km/h.. ofc that's for Autobahn, everywhere else she will be perfect
MINE GETS TO ABOUT 189..ON A COUNTRY ROAD, now that i have reduced the total weight by taking off mirrors, stock exhaust, pillion foot pegs and grab rails, i think it will easily get to 198,
you think dropping the riding weight of the bike from 270kg to 260kg will make a significant difference.. its all wind resistant stopping you at that speed not weight.. you will prob get 190 out of it... although why you would strip a cbr500r is beyond me... its not a race bike.
This bike is weirdly sitting between a lot of things. riding position is sport but not that much, 500CC might look ok but it's a 2 stroke so not that much power either, even it's sound is not sporty but it's not like a 150 scooter. What is that ? It might be good as a starter bike. I might even consider it if I'm learning. But if you are a rider already you won't be respected on this ! I'd rather have a 600 dirt bike.
+Essam Kotb It is not a sports position on this bike, not even a bit and ive been riding it for 3 years almost. They market it as a starter/learner bike. If been riding motorbikes for more than 20 years and I love this bike, it is not about who respects me, its about me having fun without killing myself or end up in jail ;)
+jaamaan123 It all depend on what you are looking for in a bike. Personaly I love the sound of the bike becaue I do not like loud bikes. It is nice to drive of aerly in the morning and not wake up all my neighbours. Andhat I like about the sound is that even when I am in a rush nobody hears I am speeding. Its very discrete ! So whatever you prefer.

I go to work with a 180cc bike btw but when I'm out for fun I take my hornet 900. So I'm not a dirt bike guy but I meant that a dirt bike is close in price but more capable I think, and as fast as this one. but again it doesn't matter as long as you have fun :)
@@paxas03 I wouldn’t say better performance. They are pretty on par with eachother. The 500r is considered a “full-sized” ‘sportier’ bike and it’s weight is greater as well as it’s frontal surface area. Pair that with a 180° twin engine and slight restrictions, it will be on par with a 400 of course. I think that getting an ECU wipe with an exhaust system would do this bike wonders. (Maybe some better foot pegs, too.)
One of my fav bike, I don't care about the top speed. I care about the stabillity, comfort riding position, and the acceleration of course. What is the point of having a fast bike? Racing? Go to the track. Bike is for having fun, enjoy the trip when you on it (my oppinion). Btw, nice video, good view, good bike
Comparing 300cc and 500cc on speed is not enough...500cc is more stable and the lower rpm at same speed will let live the bike longer💡...It's one of the best city bike.Honda CB500F is legendary. 300 is for children... *joke* I love them too.
The thing I know is the CBR500R does 170kmh at 8000rpm whilst a Ninja 300 will eventually do 170kmh but at 12000rpm, a huge difference in riding comfort !!! No way you can cruise at over 10000rpm with anything, that's too painful....
you should get it serviced bro, i got my hondacbr500r 4 months ago, it does 190 no problem. and thats on winding mountain roads with not as much room as you had, i dunno...maybe bikes just behave differently. kinda interesting. anyhow im currently suspended for 6 months :( the rush was worth it.
In Australia the speed limit is only 110kmph (once you're outside the city and into rural areas), and I've heard there areas where it's 120. This is enough to get your license revoke, bike siezed, a very hefty fine and possibly a year in jail. I think it would do me fine on the 100kmph speed limit in the Melbourne area. Torque = Fast Acceleration = Which Goes Into Max Speed!! When you say this Bike has lots of Torque and its not meant for speed.... That kinda doesn't make sense, And Not all Bikes are going to hit the same speed, But how fast each Bike actually gets to there max speed is because of Torque! It's not quite like that, man... I agree that torque equals acceleration, but it takes power to get a high speed. No wonder choppers are quick off the line, but have low top speed.

nice vid. for me the cbr 500 r is absolutely enough. i habe no highway nearby, so not more than 100km allowed. It's fun up to 130-150 kmh which is under the usual suicide lvl. ;)

This is a sub-sports tourer, ive ridden one and the motor is smooth as silk for a twin 500. Be my guest to ride your 390's / 250's and 300's all day long over 10k rpm... Idiots... The Cbr500 is great for travelling far distance, light on fuel and its got a punch of torque, what it is designed for... Overtaking is no poblem, 0-top speed is quick dont judge that, robot to robot im sure you will give a Golf 7 gti a Go or even win. People that say its dissapointing has not ridden bigger than 300 nor twin or 4 cylinder. If you want to die get the zx12. Then you can say bye bye on 340kmph cuz you wont even be able to handle it. I can get my cbr500 to 190km/h (118mph) on strait road if not to much wind it is possible depends more on your position on the bike and weather conditions, I have see people going 200kph downhill, and yes kawasaki ninja 400 does better and consumes much more aswell as it works with much more high revvs and was not tweaked for cruising and efficiency, it was built to be used as racing bike, it comes to you to choose witch one is better choice for YOU, there is no need to start arguing about witch one is better because it depends...

Huh. Good looking bike mate but this thing has a surprisingly huge power gap to a Ninja 650 (47 vs 71 hp). In fact, it feels like you can line it up with the Yamaha R3 and they'll go head to head....
I've been on both, and yea, the Ninja is fucking tiny compared to the cbr500r. I felt so cramped on it. In saying that, no, the 300 will go upto 175 or something like that, where as the cbr500r is 185. You must also remember the CBR500R is actually a supersport, used in the 300cc class of racing. The specs allow a 500 to be in a 300 race. It's all about cruising, and learning, how to use a sport bike. It's not designed to go all out, but more or less, training wheels for the 600. I have one of these, and I love it, it's acceleration, when done properly, is absolutely insane upto 130-140kmph.
learn to downshift to avoid that clicking sound, its simple u just have to rev match the engine speed to the road speed by first open the throttle before engaging the next lower gear...

With a slight downward slope, it can actually achieve over 190kmph. I would know :^) Also, yea, put a cpu in there. Apparently, they maybe factory, but it's still restricted. My mate is a bike mechanic, he was telling me how to make it go upto 250 without changing much on the bike at all, no aftermarket parts, anyway. Still stock :P

This bike is not meant for speed. The torque is great for quick acceleration but not speed. The fuel consumption is not bad too (below 100kmph, it is about same as Ninja250).
Somehow I always come back to this video.. Now that I did my own version of it on the 'F'-model I must say... I need to get a windscreen and a tank-mount at some point. haha
idk if this is still relevant but my 2020 cbr gets up to 230km/h but that is with few mods on it. a k&n airfilter , aftermarket exhaust , a power commander v , quickeshifter , changed the front rear sprocket , changed the tires , windshield , steel brakelines , got set of wings on it , im planing to put a nos kit on it still not sure if i should or not xD
Brother you change gears too soon; for you to perform better should change it in the torque curve when the limiter trigger .. This occurred in the 1st 2nd 3rd and fourth gears only when it reaches 8000 rpm. In 4th gear I get to 150 km / h with my cbr500r
+Gilvan santos nogueira. I hear what you are saying, but, I do not always have to rev the bike to its limit to reach top speed. You have to rev it to the limit to get to top speed in a top time. On this run the bike gets geared up fine and in the last gear the bike has over 5 min to reach top speed.
As I've said for several years (irritates people when I do), but the engine in this bike is a low performance engine (cheaply designed, and cheaply built). Most people would be better to buy a Ninja 300 or an R3, because both those engines will push an average weight ride over 190 KPH.
+D. Paul Riderman Top speed of Ninja 300 is 105mph or 170kph with GPS accuracy. The kawasaki speedometer is up to 10% off at those speeds (notorious speedometer error) so you can't count on it. Gee I wonder why it irritates people when you say a 300 has a higher top speed than a 500.
D. Paul Riderman If you have ever seen a Ninja 300 and a CBR500 side by side I promise that you wouldn't even be commenting on this right now. The CBR looks and sounds grown up compared to the little tiny Ninja, it's actually to the point that it's laughable. Have you seen the difference in the size of the rear tire between the two bikes? I would comment on the exhaust but you can't even hear the Ninja's exhaust it's so damn quiet. As for the R3, I have never seen the R3 up close but from videos it looks alot like the Ninja 300 in terms of size and sound.
The bike could be made to go a little faster, with a sprocket change; but who knows how far the speedo is off from the factory; seeing most are off, the only way to know for sure the steady state top speed is ? would be nice to know though.. Nice video, yl

Top speed is fine. It's an unstressed motor, great for touring and two up. It will cruise 120-130 km/h all day and that's what you want.
If you want lighter bike with better performance and higher rpms for the same price range go to ninja 400.

Peace out thanx for clip. I enjoyed this bike and I HAVE RIDDEN MONSTER BIKES. I appreciate the 500r. Comfortable, punchy power for overtaking and light on fuel. And the sound is amazing with aftermarket exhaust. That twin cylinder high pitch growl noise is very exciting.

I can get my cbr500 to 190km/h (118mph) on strait road if not to much wind it is possible depends more on your position on the bike and weather conditions, I have see people going 200kph downhill, and yes kawasaki ninja 400 does better and consumes much more aswell as it works with much more high revvs and was not tweaked for cruising and efficiency, it was built to be used as racing bike, it comes to you to choose witch one is better choice for YOU, there is no need to start arguing about witch one is better because it depends...

I Think if you maintain with 175kmh speed for 150km, the engine wouldn't stress or breakdown compare to 250cc-300cc bike..

Huh. Good looking bike mate but this thing has a surprisingly huge power gap to a Ninja 650 (47 vs 71 hp). In fact, it feels like you can line it up with the Yamaha R3 and they'll go head to head....
its made for the european a2 license. 48hp are the limit. thats why it only has 48hp

What the hell....the top speed is the same as the ninja 300.... how is that possible i thought more cc = more power....
I've been on both, and yea, the Ninja is fucking tiny compared to the cbr500r. I felt so cramped on it. In saying that, no, the 300 will go upto 175 or something like that, where as the cbr500r is 185. You must also remember the CBR500R is actually a supersport, used in the 300cc class of racing. The specs allow a 500 to be in a 300 race. It's all about cruising, and learning, how to use a sport bike. It's not designed to go all out, but more or less, training wheels for the 600. I have one of these, and I love it, it's acceleration, when done properly, is absolutely insane upto 130-140kmph.

learn to downshift to avoid that clicking sound, its simple u just have to rev match the engine speed to the road speed by first open the throttle before engaging the next lower gear...

With a slight downward slope, it can actually achieve over 190kmph. I would know :^) Also, yea, put a cpu in there. Apparently, they maybe factory, but it's still restricted. My mate is a bike mechanic, he was telling me how to make it go upto 250 without changing much on the bike at all, no aftermarket parts, anyway. Still stock :P

I like the bike, but really hate the sound. If i'm buying a CBR I want it to sound like one, not like a scooter like you describe.But very good looking bike, and the top speed is enough

This bike is not meant for speed.
The torque is great for quick acceleration but not speed.
The fuel consumption is not bad too (below 100kmph, it is about same as Ninja250).

The cbr500r takes forever to get up to top speed. In my Ninja 300, I'd already be at 190kmh. You're struggling to get to 170 kmh!

idk if this is still relevant but my 2020 cbr gets up to 230km/h but that is with few mods on it. a k&n airfilter , aftermarket exhaust , a power commander v , quickeshifter , changed the front rear sprocket , changed the tires , windshield , steel brakelines , got set of wings on it , im planing to put a nos kit on it still not sure if i should or not xD

for you to perform better should change it in the torque curve when the limiter trigger ..
This occurred in the 1st 2nd 3rd and fourth gears only when it reaches 8000 rpm.
In 4th gear I get to 150 km / h with my cbr500r
+Gilvan santos nogueira. I hear what you are saying, but, I do not always have to rev the bike to its limit to reach top speed. You have to rev it to the limit to get to top speed in a top time. On this run the bike gets geared up fine and in the last gear the bike has over 5 min to reach top speed.

As I've said for several years (irritates people when I do), but the engine in this bike is a low performance engine (cheaply designed, and cheaply built). Most people would be better to buy a Ninja 300 or an R3, because both those engines will push an average weight ride over 190 KPH.
+D. Paul Riderman Top speed of Ninja 300 is 105mph or 170kph with GPS accuracy. The kawasaki speedometer is up to 10% off at those speeds (notorious speedometer error) so you can't count on it. Gee I wonder why it irritates people when you say a 300 has a higher top speed than a 500.
Why don't you make a comment about the R3 with a new high tech engine? Rather than a low tech lawnmower engine from Honda.
D. Paul Riderman If you have ever seen a Ninja 300 and a CBR500 side by side I promise that you wouldn't even be commenting on this right now. The CBR looks and sounds grown up compared to the little tiny Ninja, it's actually to the point that it's laughable. Have you seen the difference in the size of the rear tire between the two bikes? I would comment on the exhaust but you can't even hear the Ninja's exhaust it's so damn quiet. As for the R3, I have never seen the R3 up close but from videos it looks alot like the Ninja 300 in terms of size and sound.

The bike could be made to go a little faster, with a sprocket change; but who knows how far the speedo is off from the factory; seeing most are off, the only way to know for sure the steady state top speed is ? would be nice to know though.. Nice video, yl
