These videos have been uploading at the perfect times for me lately. My husband's working a night shift, and we live in the middle of nowhere and it gets creepy some nights. Thanks for keeping me company, Mary!
Stay safe ❤️❤️
In reality you are living in Paradise in peace and quiet away from the madness in this country. I live in a busy suburbs area that used to be mostly farm land now it's packed with people and housing developments and shopping centers. I'm working on moving to the country.
@@SkilledEddie It's all good during the day, but I'm not so good with being alone in the woods at night with lousy cell service. I can't wait to get back to civilization.

Thanks, guys! Hope you're all staying safe and doing well.
I’m currently 24 and going through a crisis of wanting a new job but too afraid to switch to a job that might make less money and not adapting well.
The fact that you work since you were 16 and have had so many jobs, it kinda inspires me to not be afraid of change.
I'm 24 and I'm considering a career change after 3 years in social media marketing but I'm one of those who wants to try everything but unsure of what I want to go into, jack of all traders but a master of none unfortunately 😢 How's it going for you?
same!
same im also afraid of less money
I'm about to be 28. I switched jobs 3 times since this comment. I'm making lots of money and my job is so chill. I'm glad I took the risk.
@@patriciabanchieri9281 so happy for you!
Where's our girl Cathy? I haven't seen her comments on your videos for quite a while now. They always made me smile. Hope she's well.
Thanks for all the time you dedicate to making these amazing videos for us. You're the best.
Mary said a while back that she was dealing with some health issues. I really miss her too. She always brightened my day. Hopefully she’ll start commenting again. 🖤
keele owen you think she still alive and well I hope she is
Jarred Everett yes I do. I think she’s just worrying about her health for right now and that’s why she hasn’t really been on here. 🖤
I have been in touch with her. She's been dealing with health issues and depression/anxiety. I told her that a lot of people have asked about her. She's hanging in there and said that she appreciates everyone's concern! She's a sweet lady. I hope she feels up to coming back soon. :)
@@SouthernASMRSounds Oh, I'm so glad you guys have been in touch! And I hope that she feels well again very soon! Bless her. Thank you for the update!
Wow…When you paused and looked up at 22:21 and said train, I was so involved in your story, that I thought you actually heard the train that was passing by my house at the same exaclt moment that you looked up. That is so crazy
Wày to go for landing a job where you can work from home. You've worked hard to get where your at
psychologie10 depends on the person , as an introvert who hates dealing with annoying ppl , I rather work from home , alone . I get to pick the ppl I want to be associate with in my personal life at my expense
@psychologie10 Not everybody is the same. :) Plus right now, it's the safest thing to do anyway.
@psychologie10 I LOVE working from home. It suits my personality, but obviously doesn't suit yours. I'm a pretty extreme introvert and love not having to deal with people. I can sit down in blissful peace and quiet, and get my work done.
@@SouthernASMRSounds I've worked with the public for years and would love, Love, LOVE to work from home!!
Working from home making close to $175K a year? I'll do it any day. Not to mention working from home means everywhere is your home. 🤣😂🤣😂
Your story is quite similar to my own and others around me. Growing up in the Eighties, especially when you are in the South, was so much fun.
Thank you for sharing your work history Mary! I really enjoyed listening to it. I admire you are such a dedicated and hardworking woman! Love your videos❤️
Thank you!
For me, it’s difficult to say which video of yours is my favorite, but this one ranks up there. I could listen to you talk all night. I have actually listened to you all night.
You have the most relaxing whispers everrrr
Wow, thank you!
This wavy hair thing ur trying out suits you so well!! I gotta try that living proof product now
yes its reaaaaallly working
Amazing and wonderful video Mary ! Any young adults should listen to your advise it is priceless . I enjoyed hearing about your working life . Thank You Mary for all your hard work .
Thanks for your pep talk! I must say I have alway noticed your excellence in work ethic and I’m so glad you took the initiative to share your personal success story with us. I know you inspire me as a single mom trying to go back to college and finish what I started. I’m scared but seeing you sure makes me motivated! 🤞
I forget that you're as young as you are Mary. I mean that in a very positive way. you're so wise and give off such motherly energy. keep being you! I never quit my job unless I had a new one lined up... endure the torture until you can get out!
Love these story telling videos! It’s like sitting down with a friend & I even pour myself a tea 😄
Thank you for sharing this! It was really interesting and I felt like I was able to learn something without the job experience, so that was very cool. I wish you the best of luck with your new job
Your pharmacy experience is SO familiar to me. I was working the front counter at CVS when I was 18 and starting college, then one day they called me and asked if I could work the register in the pharmacy for just “one day”. One day turned into a week, which turned into a month, and then the board of pharmacy said to keep working back there I had to get my tech license. I didn’t really want to be a tech but it paid better so I studied, took the test, and became a tech. It turned into a great job, and I’ve been a tech ever since, working at different pharmacies. My FAVORITE part of that job though was the putting up and taking down the sale and organizing shelves. I’ve always loved your organizing videos because I’m the same exact way, I could’ve come in when the store was closed and done that for hours with no distractions from customers and it seriously would’ve been my ideal job. So satisfying and peaceful. Stressful when you try and juggle customers at the same time though
Also I did the film development thing right before it was phased out and I hated it haha. The machines were constantly breaking, customers were super impatient, and I was also a cashier and stock worker at the same time and was told repeatedly the camera department was lowest priority so it was a constant interruption to my other tasks that I got in trouble for not doing even though I was helping customers. I was super glad when they turned it all into automated computers at my store just so I could focus better on the other things I had to be doing.
Great words of wisdom ❤️ I reminded my kids people can work fast food and end up being lawyers. You treat people from the bottom to the top with respect! I worked fast food once upon a time.
Its 4:14am I haven't had no sleep.. School is in 2 hours.. 😫
Wow I know the pain of not sleeping and having to perform at work and focus. Hopefully you get a quick power nap at lunch!
I love your pfp and your username lol Leo is hot
@@Chanel_babee yes!! Aha 🤣🤣
Put your phone away
@@bandbporter I have a obsession with my phone lol
Took me 4 nights to get through this video cause I kept falling asleep but yes I found this so interesting!! Loved it.
This was so interesting, I absorbed every word like a sponge🤔🤓
Yeah my first job at a Pizza Hut paid me 5.15/hr lol. It sounds to me that you’ve worked your hine end off. I hope UA-cam has treated you well and that you’re happy. Hard work pays off and this platform is an example of your work ethic. Kids need to pay attention to this. Aside from your job, you sell items on EBay, you do UA-cam, and you shop at thrift stores to save money. Why nobody has slapped a ring on that finger is beyond me.
Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us.
I’m from North Carolina too!! Good video! 🔥
I swear I love how you tell your stories. You are so interesting! So exactly how many degrees do you have?! How did you manage to study and work that much and actually make it? Wow! You must be very smart. And you are so wise! Excellent advise for young people.
Just been woke up by my very loud meowing calico Holly and I’ve got to be up for my job in 3 hours. How did you know??? Lol 😂 so intuitive to our needs always perfectly timed!! BTW more shocked by you saying your 46! My goodness, I thought you were my age of 36! That thorough skincare regimen must be doing the trick!! Thanks for another well timed video even at 4am GMT xx
I love this video! Thank you Mary! So interesting 🐻💙✨
Gosh! I love your videos.
Mary I LOVE your shirt. Who is the designer/brand?
Great video and great advice to interesting to sleep
Love the beachy hair! You look so good!
Wow I didn’t know that about ‘work permits.’ Is that still a thing? And is it different in each state or is that US-wide? Here in Australia most kids can get jobs when they’re 13-14 if they’re competent and confident enough. Interesting!
As a litigation paralegal, I can say that intellectual property paralegals are definetly at the top of the profession and by far 😂. When I look at what you're (or you were) doing I'm like.... Wuutt. Everything is an exception, like Jesus Christ help me out here.
That bass drop in the beginning tho
As much as I want to listen to every single detail of this video, I know it’s definitely going to knock me tf out : /
😂😂 same.
Wow Mary you have some incredible credentials under your belt!
It's funny that the "Difficult " customers are called Karen.
I worked in the Dental Field for years and then customer service call centers
We called the Difficult patients
P.I.TA Patients or customers
Pain in the a**
Have you ever considered being a therapist/counselor? I think you would be great at that.
You look great Mary xx
I'm sorry, did she say cult? New follower, but are we just gonna blow right past that?! 🤔🤔🤔
Omg that one store you worked at I have experienced!! It’s sooo weird it’s almost incest. Like they’re special for working there???
I’m rewatching this video as I work and I had NO idea you worked for children services!!! I work for CPS now and we hear and see some awful things.
There's no way this woman is 46. So beautiful x
Adorable!!😘
stalker? I am newer to your channel!
Tingle's from hello Mary your the best at these whisper videos so relaxing
Did you go to Andrews High School?
Not that I'm aware of.
@@SouthernASMRSounds haha ok I lived in High Point for awhile and went to Andrew’s High. Have a great night
46?? U look 34!
¿Te han dicho que estas bien hermosa :3 ?
I don’t have a lot of older people in my life telling me about their experiences and... just, stories like these; sometimes I want to cry when I watch stuff like this-videos by motherly women who are sweet yet don’t take crap from anyone-simply because I wish I had this for myself. I am still young, so I am very thankful for your presence in my life, even if it is only virtual and will always be. Your experiences are valuable to me. Thank you for being yourself and making things better. And thank you for sharing your stories with us. They comfort me a lot. 💖✨
it's so interesting hearing about money decades ago, the minimum wage especially omg. i remember my mum telling me that she had a friend in school that was super rich because she would bring two dollars to school for lunch money. that would buy nothing now. when i was in school you needed at least ten dollars to get a roll and a drink.
It’s called inflation, really not that weird.
@@themeowpow3580yes i know what it is.
@@singerjadelocke2097 lol sorry didn’t mean to be rude.
Your experience at the grocery store sounded like bullying and harassment. I immediately had flashbacks when you talked about your experience with how you were treated. It’s the worst feeling to have a group of ppl treat you badly for no reason. You are such an inspiration!!!!! Thank you Mary!!!!
Your work ethic shines through in your video's - so your job history and your advice was already noted.
I can't believe the level of detail that you can remember, Mary... very impressive!
44:50 involved in a cult?! Did I miss this story?? Your career history is so interesting!! Thank you for sharing!!
Yeah, need to hear more about this cult!
Yeah, I figured I misheard that!!
She has a few videos about this time in her life. It’s also what her book “River Road” is based on/was inspired by!
@@lily_680 what videos does she have talking about it?? i’d love to see!
Yea what the hell, she just includes it in a throw away line, that’s the shit I want to hear about
All my jobs were varied before college but after college I my field. when I was young, I ran into a situation of sexual harassment but it was by a women. I was a a newlywed and not a lesbian . By the time I realized what she was meaning and always getting me alone or worked late, I finally followed my gut feeling and went to boss and HR. Thankfully this was in a large corporation.. but the looks of discomfort n their faces was priceless. This was over 33 years ago and what they did was had me transferred. Later on like 4 years later I heard she was in a lawsuit with the company over being firec for attacking a male co worker. Anyway i swore never get in another situation where I get a strange feeling I trust myself always!
I worked in a retail pharmacy in college too... that lead to working in general surgery, then cardiology and now prosthetics
I just started working in a retail pharmacy! Still have. No idea what I wanna do with my life tho 😕
Figured it out yet?
This was such a fun journey! Also: has anyone ever told you that you resemble Lisa Kudrow? Especially with your hair longer!
Yes, I get that a lot!
She looks like Caroline from Vampire Diaries.
All I'm seaing is Diane Keaton!!
@@lrlavalais2068 THOSE WERE MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY. It’s so freaky how we were seeing the same thing!
No, you look and talk just like my stepmom, Linda. 😅
“You bring dignity to the job”- beautiful! This is amazing advice, I run HR and couldn’t agree with you more. You are fascinating! Thank you!
Mary can you talk about your stalker experience? If not it’s totally fine if your uncomfortable!!
Brittany Ruiz I would assume that is something she wants to move past and not speak on just out of safety for her and her family!
Rachell I was just curious because she mentioned it twice and I never meant to hurt her. I guess curiosity killed the cat. I love her like UA-cam mom ♥️
I don't really care to talk about it. Long story short, some man found out tons of personal information about me and started sending things to my home, calling my personal cell phone, sent me long letters, sent flowers to my work, then started talking about coming to see me. I had to get the police involved to finally get rid of him. It was scary and not something I want to get into a long discussion about. He's left me alone for a long time, and I hope he continues to do so.
Lol
This really inspired me Mary, I’m just graduated and looking for a job but it’s hard at the moment with everything that’s going on! This motivated me to keep on looking and not to give up :)
Can you please make a video of your experience in a cult?
These are the kinds of videos I just LOVE! This kind of has the same vibe as when you talked about your memory box. You’re such a natural and engaging storyteller - and the “natural” aspect of you just telling a story really triggers my original experience of in-person ASMR. Thanks for all you do, Mary!
It brings me so much comfort to hear about you working jobs that I am working now. I am just a high school janitor now, but I plan to do so much more than that after my degree. I wonder if my path will be as interesting as yours!
Thank you so much for this video, I'm turning 16 in 2 weeks and I really want to get a job but I'm terrified of being interviewed, but this definitely helped😊😊
You can do it!
@@SouthernASMRSounds aww thank you😊💙
You don’t look 46 at all!!
What is 46 supposed to look like?
I thought she was in her late thirties. If I had to guess. She looks seriously good. (And no, 46 is not old)
Y'all lets not get butthurt. She really doesn't look 46. Even I thought she was younger.
Exactly, she look 15
HAMZA what in the actual hell? Lmao no hate but Im intrigued to know what 15 yr olds look like where ur from. She doesnt look 15 at all
Fellow pharmacy tech here!👋 Been in retail for 14 years! Also introduced to this position from being a cashier. It's getting crazier here in retail world. Thanks for the suggestion of going to hospital pharmacy. It always seemed intimidating until now, and change would be nice these days. Thanks Mary for all your uploads! I feel like I can relate to you much more now! Blessings!!❤
♥️ great timing as always.
This is so good! Your whisper quality is 👌🥺❤️
Ahah! She worked in a pharmacy, I knew it since when she organized the over the counter shelves in her other video, she was so knowledgeable. I just finished a pharmacology course at my college and I had already forgot some at the things that she just rattled off.
Been 4 days and I’m still trying to make it though this one 💤 😆 someday!
It probably sounds weird but I remember in highschool 2 things I remember being taught was to have a few questions ready to ask. It shows your interested. This is the advice I thought was weird but I actually have found it to be good advice is to have a couple weaknesses in your mind. They always ask and they actually want a good answer.
That is excellent advice!
I'd love to see a video on the cult you were in.
she has a playlist of her reading the book she wrote about it.. i haven’t listened to it yet though so i don’t know how much detail she gives.
Me too!
I wrote a book about it, and you can hear some of my experiences in my "River Road" playlist, where I read the whole book. It's pretty long, though. Those days aren't really something I care to sit and chat about.
Mary you are certainly the perfect example of how to continue no matter the life change!
Her voice is so soothing.
Thank you!
@@SouthernASMRSounds Have you been to Nerd Bombers at Brassfield shopping center? Your son would love it,I guarantee.
Your rambles are my favorite!! 💖
You are such a hard worker! I get so scared to start new jobs. So I stay at jobs I hate because I’m so scared to move on to something new . Listening to you talk about all your jobs is inspiring!
Hi, are you still working at a place you like?
@@LavaLampLady No. I don't hate my job, but I don't really like it either.
Mary are any of your books published? Would love to have a read
I recall her saying she didn’t want to go through the publishing process so she didn’t bother.. so sadly i don’t think so.
Kacie James maybe one day!
No, but maybe one day. It's a huge process and not easy to do. Most books are never published.
Omg you're experience working at Eckards is hilariously similar to my experience now working at a similar type of retail drugstore with a pharmacy. We also have the photo kiosk and a few weeks ago I had to learn how to deal with people bringing film in and you're completely right, it's still the exact same system it sounds like. They even have the same little sealable bags with the customers info on it etc. Also we have the little sales tags too except that we have to set them up on Sundays instead of Saturdays.
This is one of my fav videos! I love hearing about all the different jobs.
I can never fall asleep to this video because I find it so interesting. I think I’ve watched this whole video maybe two or three times. I plan on getting my first job soon... I’m going to apply at the local grocery store! Wish me luck!
good luck !!
I start at my first job tomorrow morning!!!!
This video just helped me 4 nights in a row to fall asleep heavenly! Thank you so much! New try tonight to figure out what happend after you asked for a raise ! Wish me luck, good night everyone

Amen!!🙏
Amen!! Thank you
Amen!!!
It’s fine or inundateo
Eckerd's! 😱 I have not thought about them in *years*!
I worked at a regional NY pharmacy called Genovese as a teen. It was later bought out by Eckerd. I don’t even really remember when all of the Eckerds went out of business!
I was still younger when they went out of business but I still remember it! Wild!
Im 25 and have worked over 6 jobs before landing my full time career in home building that im in now. Yeah, i stuggled thru most of them but you gain endurance to dealing with shit that the world throws at you.
It’s kind of cool how people could get factory jobs before.. now everything is automated.
You can still get some factory jobs around central NC, but yeah, not like before. That's the price we pay for cheap goods.
Oh my goodness I’m really early!! I love you and your videos Mary!! Keep up the hard work!🤩❤️❤️🥰
I really like this video. I just discovered ASMR, and a lot of the videos I’ve seen so far are somewhat of an ASMR trigger overload. To be quite honest, if certain things to you aren’t triggers, they can be quite annoying. Just straight dialogue in a whisper has so far been my thing. It’s just so relaxing to hear someone speaking in a non-loud, dramatic manner. I subscribed because of this video, and your content isn’t lewd like a lot of the other stuff I've seen.
What an amazing story! And your advice is spot on! One of your best rambles ever!!
I’m impressed at how hard you’ve always worked over the years & continue to do so - a good example to others
You'd get out of school at 2:40 and your shift would start at 3:00?
...But what if you had detention? 🤔😉
This video doubles as a resume Mary 🤣
MARY I AM SO PROUD OF YOU I ADMIRED YOUR HUMBLENESS YOU ARE SUCH A GREAT PERSON I AM GLAD I FIND YOUR CHANNEL YOU ARE A MENTOR FOR A POSITIVE MIND AND AN INSPIRATION 👏👏👏
This may be my favorite video you've ever done 🥰
I wish a person that I worked with would have listened to your advices. He thinks he is above certain task and it made it really hard to work with cause he would rather go take breaks and vape instead of helping. It sucked. Atleast I am moving to a new position.
I worked with a girl that was recently fired because she wouldn't do anything but text her boyfriend. We found out she'd talk about us a lot, because one time when she was taking one of her 20 minute bathroom breaks, she forgot to log out of Facebook and messages between her and her boyfriend kept popping up on the computer she was using. She literally refused to do ANY work, and it was tolerated for over a year. In July, she got busted for cheating on her time card, and now we're finally rid of her.
I've told my kids that when they get a job - and they will - they will leave their phones out of reach while working or get them taken away. It's a good habit to establish young. When you're at work, WORK!
Great video. You really are a wonderful human being. Thank you for sharing all of this. I am going to have my 16 yrld step daughter listen to this. She loves asmr but there is a great lesson in this video as well.
Thank you so much!
Wait did you say you were in a cult? I'm so curious about this! Do you have a video about it?
Your such a sweet, hard working, refreshingly, natural and lovely lady Mary...🌹😉Thankyou
Mary? 46 years old? You don't even look close to that. So youthful! I hope you're doing very well!🙂
This is so exciting! I've been so curious about the jobs you've done!
Mary!! You should totally do a parody of Meryl Streep from The Devil Wears Prada! You’d be so awesome at it!! Not even sure you’ll see this but it just popped in my head with all of your other characters! 😆
