I now live in Shanghai and in China there is tons of electric scooters. You can get a new one for 400 dollars. Usually has a heavy lead acid battery that you can remove. But people usually charge at home or in yellow boxes you can find in small businesses around the city. I absolutely love it to move around the city. Electric scooters are fantastic.
Lol,the company is Taiwan, it's Taiwan product. So of course they're sales in Taiwan first so if you see it on street, it's normal. You silly LOL I wish they're sales in my country!!! This seems good quality, if the max range can up to 180km with full charge. Full charge take 4hour. The fast can up to 60-80km/hour, it's really impress for scooter!!! How much they sales in Taiwan? It's not available sale in my country yet (I'm Asian also) it's expensive???
That battery swap technique... A cab company did this in New York in the 1890s.. and it failed due to management errors. It's a great idea, hopefully we can pull it off this time.
Really really interesting idea. I live in Dublin and we've a bike sharing scheme where people can sign up and take out a bike from all over the city which has been tremendously successful, so the communal battery charging stations seem very plausible! In short, I like it.
The battery station is a good concept and more convenient than traditional slow charging. Another function of the battery station is that it can be used as a repository for excess power in the power grid.
Well I get the idea, but what about charging times, if all the batteries at a station are used and just started charging? And you need new ones? Would be a good idea to look into new battery technologies with 10/20 minutes charging times
Probably it'll be something like when you buy a 5-gallon water jug. When you want to buy the water, you don't fill up the jug with water yourself, rather exhange it with the one already filled. Also, most likely there'll be more than one charging stations on each place that provide it, to ensure there'll always be some juiced up batteries ready to use.
curi0 yes I get the idea, but it would be a good idea to try it out with like a 100 people in 1 city, I mean if 10000 in 1 city buy this thing you probably can't get a new one with 10 stations
Judging from the size of the charging station that is quite compact, they probably can place this thing on various places such as mini markets, stores, malls, etc. on that city to supply enough juice to meet the demands. It'll be nice, although a bit overkill, to have some kind of monitoring system that can send data to our mobile device that tells which places in our area have juiced up batteries available. Or just provide the consumer an easy way to charge their own batteries.
Nowadays in taiwan theres gogoro charging station everywhere, they also add the map to direct you to the nearest station. it's good to have it but for the consumers it was too expensive to afford it
Probably the most interesting CES news thus far. I lik Gogoro idea of a new battery standard for electronic, gadgets and machines. I could even see a use for it as a spare battery for my car. Tesla + Gogoro...Nice!
I know as a fact lots of cities in China is adding bike rental facilities in city centers, it;s free to ride for the 1st hr as a way to reduce carbon footprint of personal transportation, but I truly think this will actually be even better. I love it. I can totally imagine myself go to work and travel within my city on this!
Gogoro needs to offer solar charging stations for batteries where there are no battery-exchange stands. There will always be people who forget how much charge is left on a battery. I hope they come up with something that can charge the battery to a 10-15% in an hour without going to the battery-exchange station.
I can tell you: 1. The battery station has built about 700+ right now in Taiwan. And still building. They set a target about 1000+ stations around Taiwan this year. 2. I'm not so clear about the number of owners but maybe close to 50~60k in Taiwan. Maybe more since 2 series comes out. 3. The scooter you watch at this video is Gogoro 1 series, and now Gogoro has 2 series came out last year which re-design to using more general parts on scooter, and become lower price. 4. Now Gogoro send their scooters to other countries as rent or shared locomotive form. As I known, you can find them at Paris, Berlin, Barcelona (not sure), Madrid, and Ishigaki Island.
Just had my first test ride: It handles and accelerates better than a 125cc at any rate. Living in a big city where with a car you are just stuck in traffic this little gadget is perfect. Not to mention that it is cool to burn other schooters at the street light in perfect silence.
i am actually looking into this e-scooter thing. whilst living in the city, i cant even look so fast, when i leave with my mercedes e class, the parking spot will be filled and of course, when i arrive, there is none empty. With a scooter preferably an e-scooter (i am interested in Unu) i can ride up to 100km for about 60-90ct. and wont have to worry about garages, parking lots etc. anymore.
If you thought this company is trying to revolutionize scooters..... you need to watch this video again. They have a much larger vision of changing the way we use an consume energy. They're trying to rewrite what we think of the Double AA battery
Have you been to a metropolitan Asian city? Last thing you want to be while on a scooter is have a very quite engine, you want to be heard 500 meters (exaggerating) away coming from behind every car so they wont just cut you off cause you happened to be on their blind side (or they just want to cut you off cause they don't care), which happens all the time even with noisy petrol engine scooters. A scooter with a loud exhaust and noisy engine is safer to ride in an emerging Asian metropolitan city.
Most large cities in China have roads for cars and scooters/bikes. As long as you have a horn it's not a huge issue there, which is definitely the largest market in Asia.
Brandon Kerr Well what I had in mind is more Bangkok or Manila, perhaps its ok with Beijing with those bike exclusive roads. But with roads that mix cars and bikes a horn is not going to do you any good when your already right next or almost next to the car and they all a sudden merge into your lane, happens all the time in metropolitan cities with lots of scooters, not just Asia. That constant noise of the engine and exhaust really helps in those situations.
It doesn't matter how loud or quiet you are in Taipei. People are still going to be non yielding, and very dangerous when it comes to the road. And I'm talking about other scooter riders!!
i want one of this! this is the future for bikes! *no noise *custom LED back *digital LED *LED guage *nice silk but no stylish *no more PETROL! *only charging battery but question is: how long do the batteries charge for?
The AA analogy is where it's at. I would have no problem buying a car with 10 bays for those and charging/swapping them when needed. With time, more and more companies could adopt the standard and the capacity of batteries will just continue growing. Imagine a petrol, I mean charging station, where you stop and have the empty cells simply swapped while you pay for the convenience (slightly more than if you charged them at home).
DUDE! that's totally badass. except what happens when all of the batteries at the station are already used. it should direct you to the nearest station that has available batteries. also i bet that scooters like $50,000
I don't think this is going to be a thing mainly because of the battery system. They main issue of electronic vehicles now is there are not enough charging stations around in most of cities but at least all of electric cars use the same charging system , I don't think this thing would have a such high demand that makes cities install the battery cell stations specially for scooters.
Many of these e vehicle entrepreneurs miss a key point. To make a real difference globally, these machines need to be targeted to the masses who need cheap, reliable transportation instead of pandering to apple/gadget minions who are just looking for another neat doo-dad to add to their collection. The automobile only came to make an impact on civilization when Henry Ford made them affordable to Joe Average. People will adopt a technology when it is in their interest to do so.
Great analogy there.I totally agree. Its as if they think the only people that are going to be interested in these, are fashion conscious iPhone users. When the first mass production cars were made, they were basic forms of transportation at an affordable price. And that is exactly what these guys need to do.Personally,I am put off by the gimmicks, and I am not alone. Most people want a affordable way to get from A to B.As long as the range is good, and the ride is comfortable and safe, and the parts are reliable and readily available, that is all that matters. They can add the gadgets to later models when the bikes are well established.I really think the concept is great, especially the battery exchange idea. Its one of the best concepts I have seen in some time.I just hope they market it well.
If the backseat can be replaced with something practical for hauling stuff around it might have a chance, but I don't really see the appeal for your scooter to be hackable and the way you have to change batteries.
It'll only works if there are tons of charging stations around. Or perhaps put a USB port or something on the scooter with it's own charger, so we can plug it somewhere as a last resort to get some juice.. lol
I don't know exactly, I think it's more than. 5000usd $? But it's good quality scooter. Full charge, max range can go to 180km. Almost now in market, haven't any scooter can go that far. If this scooter around 3000-3.500usd $, I would buy this. I'm really impress that this can run for long road to max range is 180km. And the design is simple but beautiful too. Btw, now it's still not available sale in my country.
The Gogoro S is available for purchase in Taiwan for NT$123,000 (about US$3,890). Meanwhile, Gogoro Plus is NT$108,000 (about US$3,410), or the original Gogoro for NT$98,000 (about US$3,100), or the Gogoro Lite for just NT$88,000 (about US$2,780).
Awesome , Tesla should be collaborating with this. I don't think batteries will be stolen from stations in same way gas is not stolen from gas stations.

THEY MADE IT!!!!!! we have more than 70k owners in Taiwan ridding GOGORO every single day. I've just ordered GGR series 2 last week.
the potential is so huge,in the future i can see electric practical cars and charging stations everywhere
I hope they begin testing somewhere around Taipei or Tokyo really soon so I can get my hands on this.
Want. Want. Want.
they are opening their first store by the end of march in taipei, it's in the vieshow building.
YuHsuan Lin oh, in Xinyi? Let's see if I can get a test ride then.
people are already riding them on the street here in Taiwan.

@@tranlily3001 50000 NT Dollars
That is pretty nice tbh i love the start up sound as well as the lights
hope the production of my country can spread all over the world. I support it ~~
That battery swap technique... A cab company did this in New York in the 1890s.. and it failed due to management errors. It's a great idea, hopefully we can pull it off this time.
How are they nowadays ?
Only in Taiwan ?
This looks like it's only a few steps away from being something out of halo. Very futuristic looking.
Really really interesting idea. I live in Dublin and we've a bike sharing scheme where people can sign up and take out a bike from all over the city which has been tremendously successful, so the communal battery charging stations seem very plausible! In short, I like it.
i love the idea of the battery station
This is so awesome!! Great video dudes. I'm loving these updates
so much torque , fun as hell
Please available soon!!
The battery station is a good concept and more convenient than traditional slow charging. Another function of the battery station is that it can be used as a repository for excess power in the power grid.
Wow...what a sleek looking thing! Like a 3C product combined with conveniece of a scooter...not a bad idea!

I'd love to buy one of these.
Very interesting. Nice looking scooter, but the easy change batteries are the big appeal.
Does anyone know any more of these innovative eco friendly type vehicles? Anything from the One Wheel or the the hoverboard to Tesla motors.
I wish these would come to Australia
GOGORO is from taiwan
good job !

whats the backround song in this video ?

左右後視鏡也有LED燈,及搭配環景的行車記錄器,這部份也可以搭配手機開啟。
Details of the background music please?
What is the weight of one of these battery?

at least, we don't need to use gas or oil. which is undoubtfully a material that could perish from the earth.

*nice silk but no stylish
*no more PETROL!

but question is: how long do the batteries charge for?
wow this is totally kool would totally ride this everywhere cx
If im not wrong it can run 30miles right?
I think this is a fantastic idea, hopefully it works

When it will come to Bangladesh?
how do you protect the battery from being stolen while charging?
I would imagine there is a locking mechanism.
Technology, man. But the key here probably is that you don't own the battery, you like rent it.
As Vincent said. And the model shown is NOT a production model. This is a demo so looks much better than it likely will when put out live.
Implement a security pin numbers, so it'll explode when you get it wrong.
They can do an exchange system, similar to exchanging cooking gas tank.
Coolest thing so far
DUDE! that's totally badass. except what happens when all of the batteries at the station are already used. it should direct you to the nearest station that has available batteries. also i bet that scooters like $50,000
If they have the charging station in most of the major 711s in Taipei. I can see this working out.
WOW! It's AWESOME! I really like this smart scooter :-)
it has a slight retro in the design
I WANT THIS!
ok this is just pretty cool
PPGH! This things going public boys!
"Later this year" I hate it when they say that in the first month of the year!!!
I don't think this is going to be a thing mainly because of the battery system. In Taiwan it would be less a problem because it's a very small island.
Will this ever come to America?
Price?

Sjaak Maasdijk and that's stealing. Good job
but the reality is, a lot of people bought this product. a lot. I saw it in Taiwan.
James Browne That’s why they introduced Gogoro 2/Gogoro 3/Gogoro Viva, check it out!
They made them affordable. This one is for the geeks, but their largest ones are big because they're affordable and practical
Hope they’ll soon develop cars with this battery swap technology
For some reason, i'm excited it about, hopefully it won't be like another Tesla.... a cool technology that I can't afford lol.
Bugs Bunny sadly it is but in about ten years or so it would be affordable
Its china...remember thats so will very very value for money
Totally want!
I wish they went into detail about those publics chargers and how it just cant be stolen
This is not the go-live model. It is just the showcase model
Should I have lesions to ride this ?
+Newyorkgamer you need a license, but i don't know if you'll need lessons in your country
Really interesting
Its exciting.

Pretty cool, I'd put these for rent in NYC!
I hope it was imports to Malaysia...I definitely buy it. :)
the phone in the video is iPhone 6(Cher Wang: God damn it!!)
It's really interesting, I love idea.
muito bacana
How Many It Can Run Once Fully Charged???
62 miles at up to 60 miles an hour.
Sam Soooo you can drive 1 hour ?..
xD
shadowsburney Inner city driving doesn't require high speeds.
It was a joke.. (NoisyPixels, if you didn't get that then I'm sorry ... I thought I made it pretty obvious though..)
Sam
I never get why you american use Miles and not Kilometers like 85% of this planet.
Love it
Gogoro's electric scooters would sell like hot cake if they price it right and make a partnership with Tesla Motors.
Whats the price in us dollars?
I don't know exactly, I think it's more than. 5000usd $? But it's good quality scooter.
Full charge, max range can go to 180km. Almost now in market, haven't any scooter can go that far.
And only 4hour to full charge, than regular need something around 6-8hour.
I hope they sell in my country, but the price is very expensive. I hope more ppl use this scooter in future, so more company make good scooter & the price can drop a bit lower.
I'm not asking cheap price for GOOD QUALITY, I mean at least decent price. If this scooter around 3000-3.500usd $, I would buy this.
I'm really impress that this can run for long road to max range is 180km. And the design is simple but beautiful too. Btw, now it's still not available sale in my country.

Make it faster and more Tron like then I'm in 😃
U basically suggested for it to be more stealable.....
Awesome , Tesla should be collaborating with this.
I don't think batteries will be stolen from stations in same way gas is not stolen from gas stations.
This looks so bad ass, just wondering on the price.
Gogoro Company: Please make an electric motorcycle for Taiwan!!!
We'd love to believe the 60 mph and 60 mile range, but we don't. We have electric scooters in our fleet but we seldom rent them to our customers mainly due to range. Ours are 4kW and are computer regulated to 38 mph which is fine for non-highways. Still, our initial 30 mile range has diminished with battery age. For reference, that is four deep-cycle car batteries together weighing about 100 lbs.
i like it but hate the charging idea
Yeah, I was thinking about asia too when i clicked on this, the traffic in the cities is awful, you are choking and get a headache from the exhaust gasses and unrelenting moped noises.
The the scooter batterys needs to be regargeble i think
I want this in Bangkok !
Viar q1 has similar design with gogoro, but it's cheaper.
Top speed? It is important
Wow
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much does thus thing cost
Man
Indonesia please
This would be a great scooter in Hawaii
