Superb job on the fold over. I have a 300 and the slide adjustment is non existent on it. I will definitely get one for it. Thanks for the details of the seat. You guys are the new standard for a restored, not refurbished tractor.
Hi there! I just wanted to say, I made a great grooving tool for my lathe last week by cutting up an old carbide-tipped circular saw blade. Now I got a bunch of carbide-tipped groovers. Groovy! cheap, too.
While driving, for stand up operation, the seat mount will fold once from the back, then the front edge slides back a few inches and locks with that vertical tab. You can still sit on it make a turn or take a break. You will just sit on a down slope, a few inches back. It is why that square metal piece exists. Pretty ingenious really. It’s hard to describe here. Please consider demonstrating this feature on a future video.
My Dad's 48 H had a easy ride variation. It didn't flip over. It had a horseshoe support. In the early 60s the original wore out, and he found a rubber coated replacement somewhere. I think the original was canvas. When you sat on it it resembled a hammock. He told me it was factory.
They don't last long if your plowing they start to leant the right, flip overs were nice but had a short life . Had a Super H, 2 Ms 2 Super M and a Super MDTA before we went the number tractors .
Seat safety is a big deal my neighbor had his H SEAT LET GO plowing snow it's a good thing the engine is so wore out it sounds like a weak jd b .in reverse it dropped him down and pinned him between the house and the steps . If the motor was strong the chains would have ground his legs into burger . Luckily it can't pull a chicken off it's nest . Broken leg and pelvis and he's a live . Great job on your videos guys keep em coming . Thanks
Ok not trying to be super anylictial here but not enough hp? Really cause a lawn mower in the same position is going to mess you up. Tractor game over that said. Strange things happen, "i,e." I'm here. Anyways................. you don't have a brother with the same name by chance do you? 🍻
@@RickBork this h is really wore out . It sounds more like a b john deere than a international . Not used on a farm . Might be run once or twice a year if that .
@@jbj27406 Yes, when the driver stood up the front edge of the seat hit him in the back of the knee. This design allowed the seat to be pushed back and the farmer could stand for his comfort. I did that many times during my time on a Super M-TA and Super H in the 1960's.
I've watched enough videos to know, Squatch probably could sense Sr was talking about doing something not original from miles away and was twitching his eyes. I literally said after "if that passes the muster with Squatch", he'd be cutting the channel on the lathe.
In reference to a existing comment, are you going to keep the old seat and just use that when plowing if the leaning seat is true? since they are similar up to a point?
I have a feeling this tractor looks better than a lot of show tractors. Amazing.

Never thought of converting existing hardware like a bolt into parts for a project. Great idea!
I like the “comfort” seat update
Nice work!! Can't wait to see this tractor in action..
DEAD NUTS ON QUALITY!! Well played!!!!
You do such a great job restoring these old tractors

This tractor has more parts than you can shake a stick at ! Good Job Team Squatch.
Sr......Did you suggest the washer and cotter pin just to make 253's eye twitch...??
Steiner Tractor should buy your videos for their 'How to videos' Good job!

Thank you sir
Excellent work.
Nice machine work 👍

Nice fix👍
It was the oil pump knocking and not the loose seat pivots?
Nice work senior. Could you show us your garden sometime?, i figure it`s about in prime growing condition now.
Cool beans
What is the purpose of a flip over seat?
when you are done for the day you flip it up so your seat doesn't get wet from rain or covered in snow
You can also flip it up for comfort or better visibility for tasks like cultivating row crops.
Maybe flip it over for stand-up driving?
And to keep the cats from sitting on it or birds poopping on it 😜

Senior comes off like he's successfully dealt with decades of eye twitches, and probably not just from 253.

While really interesting, what is the point of the flip-back seat? I feel like I'm missing something super obvious...
vary nice good work
Cool
" Not sure if it'll pass muster with Squatch or not!" lmao
Are you putting a new padded seat cushion on?
👍

Could you case hardened the end of those 2 pins for wear resistant?
" I trust the washer cotter pin more "
They lasted 60 years already. The cotter pin would have been worn off in half the time. I trust the clips.
Spare the rod spoil the seat.......
