Hello from Japan. Rest in peace, Phil Rogers. Your pots, jugs and bowls will survive the centuries, and may people always find delight in your work. (How fitting to see Shoji Hamada-sensei's grandson at the exhibition!)
whoever shot and edited this with phil are amazing, the dedication to premium shoot times, not only for the potters but also for visceral footage material, then capturing moments like the gift from phil to shimaoka. amazing work. I've seen this doco 7-8 times now and love it every time. the energy of the process is palpable. I understand fully that the craft itself can be an enormous grind at many levels. But films such as these make it an approachable art form, and i want to say thankyou for the work done by your team at goldmark.
just marvellous video! Thank you very much for doing such films, it makes people think of pottery, art, artists in a different way than usual. Love all Goldmark Gallery films about potters, they present pottery from a very right angle
Hey Guys, back again. My name is Tobias, have one item of Phil Rogers. The well known Tut-Anche-Amune-Cup. Did not use it since I had it. All the best, Tobias
Phil Thank you for your pottery educational films ! I am a jewelry designer from New Canaan Connecticut USA. I would like to try my hand on doing pottery and fire pots at the open fire kiln. Any suggestion for designing a decent kiln. I have a goldsmithing studio connecting to blacksmithing section and I think of pottery area as an extension . Hi Hiroki Lory, we write and record most of the music here at the gallery especially for our films and as such haven't got it available for public consumption. Maybe one day we'll make a potter's album!
Phil, I am wondering if you load the front of the wood kiln more densely, the air flow will pass to the areas that are not getting even heat. Thermal mass of pots contributes, I figure as does the air flow. I also wonder if lots of small stuff was loaded on the top shelves packed in like, and the larger pieces were loaded in the lower middle, the air would flow less constrictedly throughout the second chamber. Well done on your work, From potter Kevin in PDX.
He will be sorely missed. He was always so patient and willing to share advice when I met him at pottery events.
So very sad to hear of his passing. Gone too soon.

Yet another wonderful film by Goldmark. Love their films; have watched them all, some several times. Thank you.
Thank you. Wonderful way to bring in the new year watching this film.
I adore Phil Rogers. He is one of the greatest potters of our time and so incredibly funny. This film is beautifully put together.

Can't afford his pots but I just ordered his salt glaze book. It looks like its finally being reprinted and now I can get it at a reasonable price.
Hello Goldmark Gallery - where can I find the music in your documentaries? I need to throw to it.

@@Goldmarkart i'll be your first customer!
Dear Mr Rogers,
What type of sand do you add to the clay when kneading?
Excellent video
Phil has an amazing voice like that of Ralph Fiennes, and he looks like Count Dooku, Hugh Jackman, and Alan Rickman at the same time.
Were these pots already prefired before being put in this wood kiln? Does anyone know?
Exquisite !!!! Fantastic
this is a great viedo but can anyone tell me what the name of the soundtrack is please??
Hi Jivan, the soundtrack was composed and performed especially for the film by our very own Jay Goldmark.
@@Goldmarkart that is really cool.

the hugh jackman of pots.
he is so handsome, too
joy in clay and then some
Fires for 7 days?!!!!!???!?!?!?!
hi can you help me to make 25 feet pot with clay how it can be make
Hi!
I was watching you at the wheel making your pot out of the wet malleable clay, and I thought ' And God made you!' Shalom to us in Christ Yeshua.
I'm really inspired. Great talent indeed.
only in Japan an artist should never give his own work as a gift to another artist, surely not one older and more famous
What would be an appropriate gift?
Phil seems like a nice guy, but the only thing worse than these pots was the evaluation of them by that 'art critic'
sorry, like it more:
Tut-Anch-Amun!!!
HORRIBLE
