I personally view this as the first episode with Sam & Rowena as friends
I love Jensen's acting in this episode. He is always so good at sad, desperate or heartbroken. The mirror scene stayed with me for some time.
I love that Rowena used a sticky note to tell Dean to stay put but knew he wouldn't listen so she put more in the trunk to show him how he can help if he got that far.
Regarding that scene in front of the mirror, Jensen explained at a con that there wasn't no mirror only the camera so kudos to him for the excellent acting.
Golden retriever energy is absolutely on point. Also, Rowena was impressive this episode, from her conversation with Dean to anticipating his actions to just showing up and helping in the first place. Good on Sam for taking care of business and calling her.

This episode really highlights all of Dean’s traits! We see him being funny and entertaining then we shift to him struggling and being heartbreaking all mixed together with him being bada$$ at the end

This is easily the best episode of the season for me (rivaled only by the finale) and probably a top 10 overall. I just love it so much and Jensen gave an amazing performance--this is one of the eps that made me mad they never got love from the awards shows. Fun fact: apparently Dean picking up/talking to the bun wasn't scripted and was just something Jensen decided to do
This episode always makes me tear up. Especially when he's in the mirror trying to remember himself.
But it really had a couple of funny moments like "Dean Rode Larry." And your "Dean usually rides Cas." Was hilarious.
Best motw of the season! Jensen's acting range is amazing!
I really liked Rowena's confession to Dean, knowing he won't remember it. It gave us a look into her mind and I think it shows that she isn't the same after Chuck & Amara. With that in mind her appearances/actions in earlier episodes of this season take on a new feel to me.

I really enjoy the energy you bring to your reactions--you get invested in the characters and story, and your commentary is both hilarious and on-point. I also appreciate that you pause the show when you have something to add; your side stories are interesting and well worth their own time. This one gets hard to watch.
I’m going to be crucified here. And I’m going to be long. I don’t like this episode and don’t think it was well done. There was a lot of talk about this episode before it was aired and I had some high hopes for it, but it’s biggest issue for me is what you touched on: the balance is way off. The story felt rushed. And the tone was all over the map. The first 60% of it was played for humour. Then we have THE scene. (I’ll come back to that), then back to humour. Please, please, please don’t kick me out, but I don’t think either was done well. There were moments like the lamp, the waitress thinking she took advantage of Dean, and the post it notes that were genuinely hilarious. But the other humour was a lot of what I think is Jensen’s weakness when it comes to humour: when he plays it like he’s a little kid. He tries too hard. And the *groan* jokes “sucks for that guy” Oh, man! See what they did there? Because Dean said it and it’s DEAN they’re talking about! Hahahaha! Who saw that joke coming? 🙄🤦♀️ All of us. Every person saw that tired old joke coming a mile away, and it killed the seriousness of the statement. Too much of this. Added to the fact that people who would be affected most by this besides Sam (Cass and Mary) weren’t in the episode at all. It meant I went into that serious scene feeling no weight to it. Aaaaaaaaand….now I’m out of the fandom forever: I DON’T think Jensen did a good job with this scene. Even ignoring the part where I felt the scene was unearned because of the humour leading up to it, it didn’t seem genuine compared to every other scene we’ve seen Jensen do of Dean scared or crying and trying to keep it in. He is PHENOMENAL at those scenes. Finding out Chuck is God, trying to pull together when Sam was shot by the werewolves last season, talking to dead Sammy in season 2. There’s no one better at man-crying on tv than Jensen Ackles. This one looked like “Here’s the scene for my Emmy roll this season, I need to ACT!”. Even the crying itself looked bad. Jensen has said those huge scenes, like describing hell? He was crying for real. And you could tell. His whole face was involved, and his eyes were red and swollen, and the tears kept falling no matter how much he wiped them away. This looked like they used a tear stick. Ok. I’ll duck and cover now from all the thrown objects.
