***** Makes you wonder whether GameFreak came across the glitch during testing or not, and decided that, rather than fix it, they assign the 'dialouge' more fitting music.
I don't know why, but the random jingles that play make me totally lose my shit. Especially the "creepy" music that played the first couple of times. I had the exact same repeated "qÁF" line of text happen to me while using the WTW code on Fire Red! I'm pretty sure I posted a topic on it on GCL a long time ago. It happened when I tried going to the Cycling Road I believe? I wonder if it has any significance, like a glitchy untranslated Japanese line of text or something?
Ok, I found the topic. The pictures aren't there anymore but I said (very very heavily paraphrased, does UA-cam even allow links?) "I was playing around with WTW and went through the cycling road but got stopped by the guard, and instead of him saying 'Excuse me!' I was greeted by the screen shaking and this (the qAF gibberish). After this happened, I got stuck in one spot but could turn around. Going into the menu shows that my name was also changed to qAF (exactly the same as shown in your video here). Going into any menu and closing it causes the screen to stay black and freeze."
SuperPichuChan Interesting. Thanks for sharing that. I don't think qÁF is an untranslated line of Japanese text. If you force it into the Japanese version character set (according to this bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Character_encoding_in_Generation_III) you get "qあF".
Unlike in RGBY and GSC, the localizations of RSE and FRLG contain the full Japanese character set because of international linking. Unlike every game since DP (or BW, if Korean is taken into account), there are some graphical glitches but nothing serious and game-breaking. So like Chickasaurus already said, it does not appear to be untranslated text. There is a WIP article on TCRF for untranslated Japanese text in FRLG, btw: tcrf.net/Pok%C3%A9mon_FireRed_and_LeafGreen/Untranslated_Text_Dump
Oh yeah, you're right! I completely forgot that Gen 3 actually does have the Japanese characters. CpChan This is very luck based, though make sure you scroll up for about the same time as in my video and escape with a Fluffy Tail (not by whiting out). Do it on a route with lots of NPCs to increase the chances of corruption.
Zeroabsol I think there are just so many of them that the game is likely to choose a lot of them when throwing out junk dialogue. We just never normally see how many foreign characters there are in normal circumstances.
If that's the case then I'm surprised that we didn't see any Japanese characters in this video, since Gen III was the first to have multiple language sets.
Yeah. Who would have thought that just one silly 'negative HP' glitch from the Pomeg Berry would let you do all this. This is the best part: According to TheZZAZZGlitch the game setting bits 0 and 2 and bit 6 of data is actually a mechanic when a Pokémon's checksum is wrong to turn it into a Bad Egg (but I'm not sure if this is true). When you scroll up from Pokémon 255 you're not working with real party Pokémon anymore, and the game is applying this routine to non-Pokémon data chunks! (or in the middle of boxed Pokémon data for when you don't scroll up that much). If you apply that to TheZZAZZGlitch's explanation, the 'checksum' is most likely to be wrong. So some may theorize it's an anti-cheating system gone out of control, but of course, this glitch promotes cheating; it lets you get any Pokémon, and do crazy stuff like this.
It's quite possible. I've heard when the checksum fails it turns your pokemon into bad eggs, however as strange as it is, in pokemon hacks it is usually occuring at random moments too. It's really weird. As for anti-cheating speculations, well.... yeah I can believe in that,. However, it's weird as we have the bad eggs up to the 6th gen (so anti cheating explanation is quite possible) BUT in 4th gen bad eggs seem.... harmless. Like steal trainers pokemon code, you capture E.g Cynthia's garchomp, it says, do you want to nickname the Bad EGG? I check it in the PC, there's no bad egg just cynthia's garchomp O_o. I don't know much, but I think past gen 3 the pokemon games became much more stable whenever comes to bad eggs. As you see 3rd one screws up a lot, especially if use the codes on Emerald. At least gen 1 had some funny effects and they looked like a move, but their accuracy...... -___-
oh and yeah even though the checksum may be wrong if comparing side-by-side they indeed share a lot of similarities. Question does the pomeg glitch that you activate the bad eggs in your box can corrupt your savefile just like The ZZAZZ glitch?! Just because the zzazz glitch will pretty much corrupt your game every single time. So Im curious and I have seen lots different corruptional glitches, codes and other crap like that before ^^
DeoxysAndMew 2 Not that I'm aware. However, I don't know if the save data can be corrupted with the scrolling. If you scroll up 1-40 times or so max after cancel, it seems you will only corrupt box data. Even if your save file got corrupted, I doubt you'd lose all your progress if you saved twice, because Generation III has a backup save system, so if your current save is corrupted, the previous one will be loaded. ZZAZZ glitch erases saves if it removes the 50 terminator(s) in the first 11 characters of your name and you save, but if your name is two or five letters long, then saving will not corrupt the save! (ZZAZZ glitch doesn't corrupt the third and sixth characters, which would be 50 here) You will have to fix your option box though by talking to the Pokémon Center nurse before trying to save from the menu, or save by switching boxes.

The only oddity was when I whited out in a trainer battle, and ended up back at the Pokemon Center with the glitch still active. (I'm using the .SAV you provided in an earlier comment.)
I got the repeated qÁF when I used wtw,and this npc was there.I tried talking to them, and they just repeated qÁF.This was a rom hack of fire red with the map looking different, but the town map was the same as the kanto map.It was around the area of victory road/route 22

So from what I gather, it's currently impossible to exploit the 'qAF' effects without hacking in additional values? Another thing: I have a hunch that the glitch TM description may cause more corruption - or did the game lock up during the qAFs?
I know this is an old* video, but what if after getting in a trainer battle you use a revive on one of your pokemon? do the glitches become less severe/go away?
Do you mean at the end when lots of data including my name got corrupted? I think that may have been a manual reset, but unfortunately can't remember now.
Some of these may also happen if you mess up trainer scripts during hacking. Which by the way happened to me all the damn time. Especially when there were N+1 different scripting languages around -_-'

When you scroll up from Pokémon 255 you're not working with real party Pokémon anymore, and the game is applying this routine to non-Pokémon data chunks! just random, because it reads data from a place where these characters hexes have been used a lot
If I existed around the time pokémon emerald was a big thing and accidentally encountered these text glitches I'd be terrified.
qÁF qÁF qÁF!
ÉÌÉÌÉÍÉÌÉÌÉÍÉÌÉÌÉÍÉÌÉÌÉÍ
The qÁf effects remind me of the ZZAZZ glitch
13:20 with the fanfare...
"Yes!! Congratulations!!! You have successfully activated the ÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF qÁF..."
So apparently, is a Slowpoke.
I like when the trainer double battle have bad eggs that are lvl 124(which apparently the lvl cap is 100)and have a sleeping status like that's crazy
My sister is going to be really pissed off if I did this do her cartridge....
I'm going to do it now!
That's just evil.
Well I restarted the game without saving afterwards , so yeah
Calm down, Satan!
You seem like a nice sibling to have.
18:55 as far as I encountered bad eggs before you could also look at their moves instead at the first page or something... it always freezes on the first page while not on the other pages.
Everybody gangsta until the lvl 124 sleeping bad eggs show up
3:30 *Red screen of death*
I tried this out, and managed to activate the glitch, but I can't seem to get any effects remotely resembling yours. The only oddity was when I whited out in a trainer battle, and ended up back at the Pokemon Center with the glitch still active. (I'm using the .SAV you provided in an earlier comment.)
I've always wondered why the placeholder cry (or whatever you call it) for "???" is Slowpoke.
Ah yes, qÀF. My favorite
When the wild encounter happened, it looked like the Sandshrew was flipping you, your character, and your Pokémon off-
It was all like, "FUCK YOU! AND FUCK YOUR GLITCH POKÉMON!"
@@Paru-Paru-Parfait lmao
so the pokemon emerald glitch pokemon is a slowpoke in disguise
Hiker in the desert has some stanky bass to his theme
red doom screen!!!!! AHHHHH GET TO SAFTEY FROM THE EVIL GLITCH RED SCREENS!
That's cool, but the most important thing is that the two Bad Eggs were at level 69
"qÁF qÁF qÁF" 'êCE êCE êCE"
thanks! such meaningful dialouge.......
also all the pokemon in your party became Bad Egg..... RIP
I got the repeated qÁF when I used wtw,and this npc was there.I tried talking to them, and they just repeated qÁF.This was a rom hack of fire red with the map looking different, but the town map was the same as the kanto map.It was around the area of victory road/route 22

Don't worry, they're just reenacting Terminal 64
that's is when she talk about the day story
I tried using the pomeg glitch like that and I ended up just having the Pokemon with the fainted status rather that the glitch number for the HP
klaypokemoncraft139 was it Fire Red?

They're all Bad Eggs! LOL
11:36 Alola confirmed since 2007 :v lol
ok but they're all spittin str8 fax tho
So from what I gather, it's currently impossible to exploit the 'qAF' effects without hacking in additional values? Another thing: I have a hunch that the glitch TM description may cause more corruption - or did the game lock up during the qAFs?
11:37 ALOLA CONFIRMED
its name is longer than ossas
I know this is an old* video, but what if after getting in a trainer battle you use a revive on one of your pokemon? do the glitches become less severe/go away?
Yes

Happines Stan of Small Faces
gobbledegook means gibberish
Was that an edit, or did saving literally reset the game?
Because if that was the case I've never seen better irony.
Do you mean at the end when lots of data including my name got corrupted? I think that may have been a manual reset, but unfortunately can't remember now.
***** Oh ok
Still I saw you save the game and it acted like a reset :P Just curious
😂😂😂 she swear in Aramaic
Some of these may also happen if you mess up trainer scripts during hacking.
Which by the way happened to me all the damn time. Especially when there were N+1 different scripting languages around -_-'
you have a box of castform

qÁF and Cë everywhere, and why am I laughing so hard about this??
