Hi Bas, Thank you for the wonderful tips in the custom slicer contents, it is surely helping me in the report designing, But I did has a doubt regarding this, If I am using a text filter to filter my data will I be able to just show the text as the filter in the Filter Header section?
@How to Power BI Great video but I noticed that the table visualizing the filters doesn't work quite as one would want. It doesn't show the filters used, but rather the values within the filtered column that are still in use. With multiple filters, one filter might exclude values from another filter. Filters like "ranges", "greater than" and "is not" also don't work very with your measures. Do you have a good solution to show chosen filters for "date between X & y", "sales amount is greater than X" or "sales country is not US"? Maybe a good idea for a new video, pretty please!

I've recreated this slicer panel. I made bookmarks to open and close it. However, when I reopen it after I've selected "Location", it shows the slicers for "Product" but the bookmark navigator still shows "Location" as selected. Do you have a solution for this?
Hi Bas, awesome video. I was wondering if this filter pane could be assigned to only two bookmarks and use just those two bookmarks all along the report. For example, if I have three pages, is there any way to create just one filter pane that is shown in each of the pages, and use only two bookmarks to swap between different slicer groups? Love the solution to identify which filters are applied. That is such a clutch feature when you have a filter panel that is not visible by default. I was playing around with Option 2 a little bit, and I decided to go with something like this ShowFilters3 = "Filters (" & IF ( ISFILTERED('Data'[Region]), 1, 0)
+ IF ( ISFILTERED('Data'[Property Type]), 1, 0 ) & ")" If space is an issue, then dropping this measure as "Text" in a Button shows the user how many filters are applied, and they can click the button to show the Filter panel and make any changes.

Hi, I tried to used with hidden page … but is not ok … when I go in hidden page with shortcut button the bookmark is reset, you have solution to used with button and hidden page ?
if i do not use all the slicers then the second option does not show the header titles. Looks like they have to be selected in the order of the Show filter header DAX i.e class name , color name , product subcategory name and so on. if i do not chose color name and filter header names do not show up
I have a chart with data. There is a slicer for the chart that filters data by date. Can I create a single-selection filter that will automatically be set to the most recent date?

One question though: with all the objects in the report just for the slicers (including the DAX behind it which is filtering over tables), when it comes to a larger data model, are there any performance differences - from the initial load to the response time on other visualizations in the page? Can someone please help me? If I select filters from 1st tab- they show up But as soon as I go to the 2nd bookmark- it removes filters from 1st tab and Vice Versa
This video is wrong in showing that Data should be checked at 5:20 upon Bookmark's right click & data Infact, it should be unchecked for the cross filters from both tabs to be visible Please correct- it caused me wasting so much time Excellent video though

Great video!!! I am trying to get the Clear Filter button background to change color when filters are applied to indicate that is “active”. Have a measure that checks if filters are applied for each of the slicers and if so returns “yellow” if not returns gray. When I try to apply it as conditional formatting it does not allow me to select that measure. Any idea how to accomplish this? Keep up the great work!!!
Well done. In the event a dimension has, say, 500 Brands, and I deselect one, I will not get 499 entries for the Brand dimension, I'd get a max of 3 (or whatever I set the limit to be). I have not noodled on this yet, but do you already have logic to alter the result set to "All Brands Except A, B, C" as the result? Essentially, comparing the selected count to the total count to determine whether to show the selected versus the deselected elements?
What a great feature in a business who needs a lot of filters! The only problem I am struggling with is how I can use this over multiple tabs? I need the same filters in other tabs as well. Do I need to construct the bookmarks in every new tab? That is now my solution, or can it be done with the options 'Data', 'Display', ''Current visual', etc? And is it correct that if I do clear filters, I still stay in the selected filters (like 'Location')?

Can you please create a video where a dashboard can offer both a relative sliver and a regular “between” sliver on the same column? Somehow it seems like we can only give the user one or the other, but I want to let them use both types of slicers on the same dashboard!
Thanks as Ever Bas! I've only used the Dax Studio DumpFilters feature for de-bugging before as I found it too cumbersome to use in a report. However I hadn't thought of editing the text and only using the sections I needed to make it production friendly before! This is a great addiiton to my filter panel. I also love how you purposely make common mistakes to re-inforce our learning. Like you did with the 'Data' Bookmark Setting. 👍👍👍
Hi Bas, thanks for your videos!!! I wanted to ask you if there's a way in dax to hide drop downs and unhide then the initial drop down is selected. Taking your file as an example.... If class is not filtered then hide Subcategory and Manufacturer, when class is filtered then Subcategory unhides, and when subcategory is filtered then Manufacturer unhides. Regards

As an idea, I love the videos and would be very useful to have the part where you show up explaining to be a smaller. I watch the videos at work and some collegues might think I am watching youtube for other things since you are showing up in most of the screen. Making it smaller would be better to not give others a bad impression. Thanks!!
It takes a lot of time to actually build something so simple as a slicer. I'd question if it's worth it. The ultimate goal of a report/dashboard is to show important information that one can act upon. If a report takes several days to build... not sure if I wanted to spend 30+ minutes to pimp up just one slicer. But it's good to know that one can do such things :) All one needs is time. And time... is money.

The select all option will disappear after you search in a slicer, do you know anyway to fix this?

I am also facing the same. Did you find any solution for that?
Yes I did. I deleted the bookmark navigator and recreated the buttons myself. Then I assigned the bookmarks to these buttons. Hope this helps.
What if you have so many more filters? Can you put them in a visual that allows scrolling down all those? Couldn't find anything on UA-cam. Thanks

I think this is not possible 😕 - conditional showing and hiding of charts / slicers would definitely be a nice feature to have
