I just found this channel today...I love Americana Music..which is just fancy for damn good music with a root, soul and just the right amount of swagger..
These guys are my most favorite band ever since I first heard them over fifteen years ago. You can really relate and understand what they are singing about.
Great for so many years! O.K. now one for the road and then my Wesmalle triple beer is finished. Don't loose the beat! Cheers from the Netherlands. P.S. It's time to play in Tom Tom again...!
Today at ten in the morning, while I took care of my own business, I saw a woman sitting on the terrace of the cafe. she was alone, smoking continuously. And she was crying. Alone. For a moment, I wanted to go talk to her. For an instant. That only happens in the lyrics. Immediately, I remembered three songs that i dedicated to this unknown woman who cried alone. Bottle Rockets - Smokin '100's Alone Suzanne Vega - Solitude Standing Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner
If you play this song followed by “Queen of the world” by the Bottle Rockets it tells the story of a man returning home to his wife/girlfriend after sitting at a bar feeling bad about the fight and I like to think the two songs are telling the same story from two different perspectives.
Meh country music . Great musicians but the lyrics are all the same theme. She got the mine I got the shaft. Overly corny and predictable. That being said the music is good.
Most aspects of music interpretations are individual opinions. If you had stuck to " I don't like the lyrics" you would be safe. However, you open yourself up for cross examination when you make mistakes. It is not country music. Also the lyrics are told from the perspective of a woman (you got the he/she wrong) who is very much alone. The listener knows all about her pain, loneliness, desperation and conflict. We know nothing about him. We are all left "guessing" so you can not say he ("she") got the mine. Heartache and isolation is predictable and the imagery of the song demonstrates that this is the point.
I love the Bottle Rockets!!
Hell yes! Its about time the Bottle Rockets get some respect
I saw them once in the early 2000's and wish I would have seen them again. Great band!
Haven't heard this version,,so good.
These guys just keep getting better and better as time goes on.

Yes, I'm the angry fat man who wants to keep his taxes low. ;)
This is a fine piece of music. Listen to the Bottle Rockets' song, "Better Than Broken." It rocks, shakes, and moves things on the counter.
Love the songwriting and this band.
I only discovered these guys a few weeks ago. I was missing out.
Don't miss out just go buy all their albums and rock them out at full volume
This band sings songs of my life like no other.
Yes, these guys are good.
They can rock it too - give them a listen
