Says it all about the m0rons at the FA. Offered the England job to people like Pardew, Allardyce, Southgate. I'm sure Barry Chuckle probably got a call too at some point.
In fairness to Pardiola, the job he did at Newcastle was phenomenal. 1st full season we finished 5th, and could've finished higher if not for an injury crisis during the winter. The reward for this, was we brought in Vurnon Anita and Curtis Good in the following summer window, and sold Demba Ba for £7 million (with the club only receiving half of that due to a 50% clause in Ba's contract), and Cabaye for less than £20 million over the next year, without truly replacing either. When you consider his competition for the England job was Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce, and Gareth Southgate, it wasn't as crazy as it sounds now.
Ye pardew gets way to much stick in my opinion 2 top ten finishes in 4 seasons, 5th in one season, Europa leauge quater finals, never relegated despite minimal investment in the squad defo up there with hughton and Rafa as the best managers in the Ashley era imo
@jm11111 pardiola was definitely the best manager in the ashley era, surely qualifying for Europe has to top surviving relegation under benitez and Hughton. My favourite was hughton who wasn't really given the chance in the PL, but pardew it was that got us finishing 5th, before being rewarded with 0 investment
@@RaseYourProbs I still can't understand why Ashley sacked Hughton for Pardew when he did. Obviously he was proven right to do so, but the timing of Hughton being sacked was just downright weird.
@@jackhunter8146 I was absolutely furious when I saw the news, esp at that time pardew had been out of the game for some time, if I remember correctly his last job was in league 1 or something like that. But his first game was a 3-1 win over Liverpool with carroll being outstanding, sealed his 35mil trf that day. I think it is 1 of the only ashley decision I've come to accept as the correct decision and we fans were wrong about. As much as I liked hughton, I don't think he was going to finish 5th with that squad.
Italy were a poor side in the euro final against England. That was the one he needed to win. Spain were better but Southgate didnt know how to get England going against anyone who might give them problems.
I do like Pardew - as a NUFC fan - I think he did a good job whilst under pound land Ashley! He has something about him whether you like him or not. I do.
If a manger took over one of the big premier league clubs and kept finishing second, he'd eventually get sacked and considered a bottle job. This is the problem with a lot of British managers, they think getting to finals and semi finals is good enough and then point to where we were before.... Times change and generations of players change.
Can some one on live tv ask a former england player llke shearer how fatigue plays a part after having a long season then playing a big tourament i would be interesting what they say
Your players are miles better than you used to be. From an outsiders perspective I find it hilarious when england talk about having problems in midfield. Your midfielders are madison, Foden, palmer, rice, elliot, Jones, mgw, mainoo, Rogers, Lewis, wharton, bellingham In the pipeline you have myles Lewis skelly and nwaneri. In defence you have guehi, konza, Braithwaite, quansah, hall, gomez, stones, colwill, trent, Lewis, gray, kilman, livramento. In attack kane, solanke, Watkins, saka, Gordon, Mikey Moore, Barnes, sancho, Philogene. What country in world football has that level of talent to pick from. Spain have maybe a better midfield. France have a better defence. But no team in the world has the squad depth of England. England aren't perfect problem at left back and the keeper. But Spain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil have no goal scores like kane and palmer. France have no real playmaker in midfield. Spain have problems in denence and no real strikers as does germany. If England find a left back and a better goal keeper they will be very hard to beat at the next world cup.
Nonsense Anthony Gordon came out recently in interview basically calling Southgate a clueless coach. I am sure foden, grealish, madison etc think the same. Pardew while not a great manager was a decent manager at Premier league level he got a team primoted from the championship West ham to the Premier league. He led them to ninth in his first season got them to a fá Cup final loosing on a penalty shoot out to Liverpool. With Newcastle he got them to fifth and won the Premier league manager of the season. Pardew managed a good level of success in premier league. Unlike Southgate he had a least had a style of play and a clue. Southgate in club management showed he had neither and got Middlesborough relegated. He was lucky with England as he had very talented players. So he could play badly and win. But he very lucky draws in tournaments where avoided the big teams such as Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands until the latter stages of tournaments. When ever he came out against a top seeded team such as Belgium, Italy, France etc he lost. He didn't come close to getting the best out of the players at his disposal which he really showed when he managed to get england relegated when he suffered two humility defeats 4-0 and 1-0. He also lost to a minnow team in Iceland. Even graham Taylor who is considered one of England worst ever managers never managed something as bad as that. Of all the managers who preceded him who had far weaker squads. Only McClaren was actually worse than him. Hoddle, veneables,Sven had far weaker squads and had only 4 or 5 top class players. No squad depth at all. Capello had a much weaker squad than Southgate but they breezed through qualification. They were a disaster in tournaments but that was down to Englands low quality midfielders at at the time than cappellos management..
He was a mid manager 😂😂 never won a trophy never managed a big club. Best British managers in pl histriry were sir Alex sir Kenny, Rodgers and Moyes. And sounness and o neill
Pardew comes across as a bit smugg i disagree that england progressed under southgate if thats the case we would won something it was one step forward one step back i am not blaming southgate but the system itself
Southgate persisted tp play Kane totally out of shape. Persisted to play players out of position. Foden on the wing useless. If he was braver. England would have won the euros. Very hard to safe it all the way to the trophy.
Didn’t Bruce almost get West Brom relegated ? Weren’t they near the playoffs when he took over ? Horseshit! Wind your necks in. Pardew did a great job under fat Ashley, Bruce has no integrity and no idea. Blackpool will struggle!

Is this the B team 10-1...Pardew and Crook, not quite Jordan and Keown. 😂😂😂😂
Haha, Pardew is a classic, maybe England needed a disco dancer at the time!

I never realised Alan Pardew played Football Manager!
You should try having a bit of respect, has had a long career in management and dosent deserve jibes from a horrible troll hiding behind a username.

In Pardew's own mind he was fantastic! but in reality he was a mediocre player and manager but still carries the air of billy big bananas!
Could have done alot worse.
Southgate did a terrible job on the pitch, worse brand of football I've ever seen.
Change the record, so boring hearing it time after time and start realising its a results business, the bloke has moved on so perhaps you should.
