The M103 is the ultimate US heavy tank in War Thunder. Its armor isn't very great in anything besides full downtiers, but the cannon is pretty punchy.

Could you try the CV90105, or maybe the lineup of CV90 at 10.0 (you can also use the leopards at 10.3). I’m grinding Sweden right now and that looks like my favorite looking lineup rn after looking through the tech tree.

What kills the M103 in WT for me is you wanna use the AP, but if you run into a soviet heavy, it’s almost worthless the way it’s currently modeled, so you’re forced to use heat-fs which has bad post pen. In reality, the M103 could pen the front plate of an is-4 at over 2000m with its AP round, but Gaijin took its pen at 60 degrees at 2000m irl and set it as the pen at 0m in game and removed some penetration even from that.

Spookston you gotta play the AMX M4 since its an ultimate menace of 6.7 even more of a menace in downtiers with its autoloading 90mm with PCO-50. You gotta play it to honor every french mains who keeps carrying their teams on downtiers and full uptiers
As a French main myself (who suffers from Gayjin'sx rigged mechanics and Russian bias) I can't agree more. The AMXs are a mass murder on tracks ^^

i heard you hate british vehicles, vehicles that do no damage and vehicles that are basically CAS magnets, so i think you should play the ratel 90; a gigantic british light tank with no armor, that only gets 90mm HEAT with a 7 second aced reload and that somehow always gets strafed by planes before it's even allowed to leave spawn (day 79)

He finally played the m103! Im currently grinding with it, but since almost all 7.7 games are full up tiers I don’t play it as much. Uptiers are painful. In downtiers it’s goated.
Probably true for every heavy tank unless it is a Russian heavy tank (I am looking at you, Object 279).

the gun is crazy fuckin powerful it needs the turret, my grandfather was an armored officer and was stationed on a base where marine m103s would fire at a range and they would have to fire their guns at a negative degree angle or else the shell would go over the net at the end of the range

Fun fact the m103 has the highest shell energy of any tank ever produced at 13,149,548 joules. The 50lb shell traveled at a speed of 2,387mph. This is equivalent to being hit by a Ford F150 at 250mph. The only tank to surpass the m103 in shell energy was the Soviet object 120, which was never produced. There are pictures of the m103's shell online, which nears the height of one of the tank's crew.

1:47 Repairing is frustrating as hell recently. I've had multiple occasions in different tanks; I get shot once, lose my track and engine, start repairing, finish repairing with just my tracks repaired. I even restarted the repair recently, only for it to repair my tracks and not my engine.

Those micro-stutters you mentioned at the beginning of your video, i suffered from them for years. I found a fix in a dead fourm stating if you delete your cache folder in the main WT directory it'll get rid of the stuttering. It worked! my cache folder was like 20gb lol

I remember preferring heat back when i grinded this thing, and i think heat was stealth buffed since then,(at least lower br highpen heatfs). So you may have wanted to use those shells more often, but besides that good video. Hope you get well soon as well.

I love using the HEAT FS in an uptier because the pen on the AP is depressing (for no reason as other commenters have pointed out) but the AP does better post-pen which makes it better for downtiers where the pen isn’t as necessary. So I always swap my ammo loadout depending on the matchmaking, and I find way more success than just sticking to either AP or HEAT with some HE in supply.
