The concept of bringing an old friend back far away and a journey getting to them only to have them betray you afterwards could have worked but it was executed poorly in this case
@@RoyalFusilier343 has a terrible track record of making these huge plots that simultaneously don’t have the content needed to meaningfully fill them and don’t get enough time to resolve them in the game. Halo 5 begins and ends outside of the game. It’s terrible storytelling.
I'm starting to wonder if they only killed her off so they could replace her with a clothed version to get the T rating and expand to a wider audience.
@@KalleNoble They were pretty desperate to make everyone like the weapon, so it's very likely. What pisses me off is how many people fell for it. It was so blatantly obvious. And the fact that everyone wanted things to go "back to the way they were" just proves how unimaginitive halo fans can be sometimes. Cortana being evil was clearly meant to have a redemption ark. But no, she huwt ouwa feewwings. Somtimes you just gotta let the writers cook. The exact intent isn't always clear right away.
Honestly, the hunt the truth advertising killed my respect for this franchise. It seemed so cool and got me so hyped only for it to not even be in the game

@@MarioLeCarreDunno why you brought up bungie or destiny out of nowhere but here's my own response. Bungie after they left joined Activision. Activision basically had them change up their game to fit their vision. Game launched then they had to work on a ton of dlc this caused bungie employees to leave left and right and Activision kept replacing em. Destiny 2 launched and old bungie employees were becoming an endangered species and by forsaken basically all of old bungie was gone and replaced. The bungie of now is basically just a child of Activision that split off wearing the name and skin of Bungie.
As someone who obsessively read all of the lore books and stuff when I was younger, pretty much the ONLY good thing about Halo 5's story was that awesome moment of "HOLY SHIT I'M ACTUALLY FIGHTING WITH BLUE TEAM???"
@Someone-lg6di same. Its like it has moments where it respects the books in a nice way, but then just decides to shit on them for no reason other than to seemingly piss readers off
Fun fact. You can skip the last triple warden fight by taking the grav lifts on the side of the arena, while you are on them, initiate a ground slam on the piller in the middle as you fly over. If you land, jump, boost and hover for the extra distance over to the exit door and you can leave without needing the platform to drop down after the fight. Makes legendary absolute pittance
@@ViolentDefender Yeah, same. Trust me guys, the forums and friend groups had their Arbiter haters. My older brother was one. He hated the Arbiter missions so much he wanted us to skip them after the first playthrough. It was probably why we hardly played H2 and H3 together compared to CE. I played the hell out of them, but he was barely more than a one and done player. H3 had playable Arbiter but only in 2 player, and he insisted on playing through single player only. But he'd still go back to split screen CE with me, because it was about Arbiter. Anyway, those people are/were stupid. Especially my older brother.
Honestly having a Halo 6 that followed up on 5s campaign and actually resolved what the fuck happened to Cortana (most people seem to think the version that exists in 5 is a corrupted fragment from the end segment of Halo 4 that escaped instead of helping Chief fight the Didact) would still be appreciated. Even post Infinite.
my assumption is they were planning to make it so cortana lost her mind from the rampancy and saw that the only way to save the universe was to rebuild it but that really is only based on the fact i don’t think cortana ever got rid of her rampancy she just injected some into the ship i think a dlc with cortana echos could give us a solid answer but i honestly think we’re more likely to see halo 7 than them backtrack to the most hated game
I would really appreciate seeing something resolve from 5. At this point, I've decided that old Halo should stay in the past. The series needs to move on from its roots and experiment with new concepts. Halo 5 was a decent, though poorly executed, place for that to start. I just wish Infinite didn't try to sweep it under the rug like it was hiding something shameful.
Halo 5 was such a weird game. Because of how the enhanced mobility impacted level design and AI behavior. Most missions felt more like Destiny raids/COD shooting galleries with ranged rifles, ADS and drawn out firefights than proper Halo levels.
So.. never played 5 (Or infinite) - Just seeing the fact they brought back Cortana as a antagonist left a sour taste even without playing the game. Not that 4 was a masterpiece of storytelling but the Cortana rampancy thread culminating in her protecting Chief after years and years of Chief doing the same for her was nice and a good sendoff of the character. Does Infinite expand upon it at all?
Infinite sort of sweeps it under the rug and you are dealing with some of the fallout of the created conflict, and a new enemy. So it’s a bit of a course correction
in a word yes but its rough its just obvious they needed to write around this plot thread so its a compromised resolution more detail bellow read more in short all the cortana stuff in infinite is flashback/recording style on something that happened off screen and we find out only in bits and pieces as we get through the campaign, she kinda gets a do over to go back to her halo 4 ending that she does need to protect the chief but its not elegant and ultimately proves that bringing her back in 5 was a mistake theres a new AI called the weapon and the weapon is an exact copy of cortana created by halsey but the weapon doesnt know that (which becomes relavent to the weapons character arc) and theres this friction that comes from the weapon being chiefs new AI and chief being unwilling to trust the new AI after what happened with cortana the camapign overall is trying to soft reboot the franchize and is very modern take of Halo CE vibe thing but it has a rough spots as a result of all the crap that came before that didnt work needing to be paid lip service
It doesn’t. You see Chief coming to terms with it via The Weapon (literally just a new Cortana). Cortana is defeated offscreen before the game happens. Infinite isn’t a bad game, as it stands. It’s just got enough assets for 3 levels that it stretched over a meaningless open world. The core gameplay of Infinite is genuinely good and if they introduced a new biome after the first couple of hours rather than expecting us to care about Escharum over and over again it could’ve been great.
I really enjoyed the MP, didn't have high expectations at first but i had fun with it. Played it a lot more than i thought i would. Didn't play it much at release but the updates, throwback playlists and arena modes made it damn fun. Firefight warzone was also enjoyable. A bigger campaign with more of the covenant from firefight would've probably made the campaign more enjoyable if they included more levels and removed some of the unnecessary ones. Might be a controversial take but it's one of the more memorable MP experiences I've had in the last 5+ years.
Halo 5 is frustrating because, no matter how okay the campaign is, you always know in the back of your head that we could’ve had something amazing if the game was like the marketing
@@Isabelle-mp8rk REQ Packs and yeah they weren’t great but at least they still allowed you to unlock stuff by just playing the game. There was nothing in Halo 5 that you HAD to pay to unlock
I personally think evil cortana could have been great, especially if masterchief spent an entire game chasing after her and trying to talk her out of it, only to realize that the real cortana is really dead, and that the evil cortana is just an overgrown subroutine, a remnant, a pale imitation. it could have had a powerful message about moving on from loss and the falacies of obcessing over the legacy of a dead loved one. Relatedly I also take no issue with Masterchief passing the torch, but it needs to be well explored, as there is tons of fertile ground in a living superweapon who saved humanity multiple times having to learn to let go, both of the comrades and friends he lost, and of the constant suicide missions that once gave him purpose
something that's always bugged me is that the prologue cutscene they added to halo 2 anniversary is really peculiar in that a lot of it is from an "in-progress" version of 5 like all the elites have their H2A/classic designs, including the arbiter (despite him being turned into one of the new elite subspecies in 5), and one of locke's spartan buddies is a completely different character with a unique design, they even hint at a different plot for the most part, it's just weird to me that they'd seemingly have every bit of promo material from a part of the game that was eventually scrapped or rewritten entirely
They did that in H2A's opening and outro cutscenes because those were the assets Blur had on station for rendering. It's the same reason the Marines in H2A's cutscenes have the exact same armor and weapons as the Marines in Halo Wars and Halo Wars 2. If you watch carefully, you'll notice in HW2 that they only show the Battle Rifle, H2 Magnum, and Shotgun. Aside from the Banished weapons and new character designs, it was almost all just reused H2A and HW1 assets.
The trailers for 5 were litterally going to be false advertising because the story never actually called for Locke and chief to fight at all They had to add that fight scene in for legal reasons so they wouldn't get sued by angry players but it still turned out like shit because blue team goes through the portal and Osiris just sits there like "now what?" It would have been better for blue team and Osiris to just duke it out there 4v4 but nope cause that would be too much animation time for a scene that wasn't supposed to be in the game Maybe it was planned to but it never needed it and ended up being forced
This was the problem with H5, too many hands and ideas in the pot and we got this awful narrative. If I remember correctly don't quote me but initially H5 was going to be Locke searching for Chief because he disappeared unknown reasons, then it changed Locke hunting chief cause he's turned on UNSC after he discovers some ONI b.s. and with a emperor Palpatine looking Didact as the villain, then it changed again to what we got now.
I think that being forced to have squadmates in every mission becomes exhausting very, very quickly. I don't wanna have other characters speaking to me every five seconds, and sometimes being alone helps the player feel more immersed in the world.
Absolutely agree with this. I hate being forced to play with NPCs. I love the few games that will allow you to send them somewhere and they'll just stay there the whole time.
Not to mention the horrible AI they came with! I think there shoulda been some missions with blue team and some missions with Chief alone like Halo 2 did.
Agreed that was one of my criticisms of Reach, I could not stand noble members being with me on any mission, they felt either in the way or annoying by taking my kills; so as soon each started getting taken out one by one I rarely had any emotion.
the Osiris spartans had a decent amount of characterization in the allied spartans' combat barks... which you never hear, because 343i couldn't figure out how to implement radio for it, so if your spartans travel away from you on these massive levels that encourage you to climb up really high, then you can't hear them at all even when the chatter in question is gameplay-relevant, like when a squadmate goes down and needs a revive anyway buck and vale had some endearing combat barks that hint at more about them. vale, for example, has combat barks that wouldn't sound out of place coming from an elite. she's not just the group's translator; she's like a weeb for sangheili, and the idea, at least, is adorable
Legendary isn't bad with teammates. The squad system is rather good. The campaign itself is not bad. The story isn't even bad. It's just not AS good as the rest. Which isn't the same as being bad.
@@bobdylan1968 He said on Legendary. On Legendary it is absolute dog shit. Going down and returning to last checkpoint was a perfect punishment for dying. Going down and having to watch your 3 AI companions slog right across enemy fire, go down one by one until the last one barely makes it, only to find out their AI Nav-mesh doesn't extend to literally 20% of the map geometry is a dog shit campaign. I always hop into Halo on Legendary first, and that one was a slog of an experience. Barely worth the time it took to play, and even then only to get a slightly better understanding of the game's events than you'd get watching all the cutscenes on UA-cam like a TV show before going into Infinite's masterpiece of a campaign by comparison. Anyway, I'm glad Halo appears to be out of that darker age.
Interesting, it wasn't that bad imo. I just armed the brain-dead Blue Team with binary rifles and incineration cannons from the previous area, and it only took a couple of tries. The most important thing is worrying about yourself, saving the horrible teammates is unnecessary 👍
@@bobdylan1968 Thats coping. I love Halo 5's campaign but I know a bad story when I see one. Even on my first run-through, i saw the plotholes before I even watched the reviews. What killed Halo 5 for me was the enemies disappearing from a distance like I cant explain it just when you zoom in on a enemy far away they would vanish also they would look choppy
Okay, but hearing the Halo theme play during The Breaking will always be a great moment in this game. Edit: And correct me if I'm wrong, the last time the Halo theme had played in a mainline game was during the Warthog Run at the end of Halo 3. I think it was absent in ODST, Reach, and Halo 4.
there was a small peek of the halo theme in the second half of 117 from the halo 4 ost but its only a short reference and kinda hard to notice if you werent paying attention
Technically, it came back as part of Cortana's theme for Halo: Reach ('Say The Words', or 'Keep What You Steal' as it was heard in Halo 3, but I think Martin O'Donnell had his name for it that I can't relocate, even in the archived Inception videos) & ODST had Combat Evolved's 'Rock Anthem for Saving the World' hidden as part of the 'Deja Vu' Vidmaster Achievement/Challenge. Halo 4 did get a cover of 'Never Forget' in the form of 'Never Forget (Midnight Version)' arranged by Kazuma Jinnouchi for the Staff Credits (Which have not survived into The Master Chief Collection), but I don't believe that contains the Halo theme itself. Again, technically. Unfortunately, I don't see it as a plus in Halo 5: Guardians' favour, as if the only defining moment of the game's soundtrack is "We did Marty & Mike's beloved theme", that speaks rather unfavourably about the rest of the game's original music, although I do get why many would feel that way. Take it on an individual track basis, I'd say the music can be good in it's own right (A proper shame 'On Deck' was siphoned off as a digital bonus that I don't think has ever come back via current releases, 'cause that's about the only sincere delight Warzone Firefight ever gave me), but taken as a whole, it can be one repetitious beast (Lucas Raycevick's 'Halo 5: Guardians - One Year Later' does a better job speaking on my behalf). I don't necessarily blame composer Kazuma Jinnouchi for it, either. From what was reported about the Campaign's development cycle, it just sounds like he might have had nothing more than vague or general ideas to work with, assuming they didn't change on the fly or that he wasn't simply told "Just throw a string orchestra at *everything* as that's what Halo's music is, isn't it??". Although I for one actually have a lot of appreciation for some of Neil Davidge's work on Halo 4 ('Requiem', 'For Armour', 'Arrival' & 'Green and Blue' such examples), you can't deny that Kazuma Jinnouchi was absolutely standing out with such pieces as 'Mantis' & '117', so while I can't pinpoint Kazuma Jinnouchi's prior works (I do recall that he was among the Metal Gear Solid 4 & Peace Walker music teams), I do not believe it was due to a lack of talent nor imagination that his work on Halo 5: Guardians suffered in terms of distinction or character (I think I only bought the soundtrack as 'Blue Team' included the tearjerker from the initial scene of Halo 4's Epilogue, which was also confirmed to be a Kazuma Jinnouchi composition). I'm honestly not trying to rain on your parade, though. For all that the Halo 5: Guardians Campaign missed the mark on, it didn't stop Kazuma Jinnouchi & the performers of the Orchestras from giving Martin O'Donnell & Michael Salvatori's work some honourable arrangements.
@@sodium7127 That's true, too (The introductory cutscene for 'Composer' while gazing upon Installation 03, just to be specific for anyone else reading). Thanks for reminding me. I really don't know how that one slipped my mind.
I played the campaign once, pretty much right after I bought it, and that was it. I tried a second playthrough but couldn't bring myself to keep playing after, I think, partway through the second mission.
I never understood the criticism the Halo 2 Arbiter/Covenant levels got. I loved them back then just as I do now. They told an interesting story and I quite like the character/s involved. Halo 5 didn't tell an interesting story in the "other perspective" in my opinion, and I didn't really care for the characters involved.
Funny enough Halo 5 has my most hours played and holds a special place in my heart. It was the first Halo game I ever owned myself (grew up playing the classics with friends in split screen) and my first Xbox I got the Halo 5 SE Xbox one that I saved up my own money for. It was a huge accomplishment for me and a big part of my childhood.
when I bought halo 5 and didn't really know a lot about the community, I always thought that EVERYONE liked the game as much as I did. I lived the game but then I learned that a lot of people didn't. Nevertheless I still love it.
I finished recently and it wasn't like, the worst game ever made. It's not my favorite campaign or anything but it had a couple moments. Being able to see Sangheilios in-game was cool and I liked sunaion. It was also neat seeing blue team in the game even if it was only for like 3 missions Tbh I'm a lore hound now so I liked the references to stuff but i get criticisms about halo 5 kinda needing it
If you ever go back into 5 on Legendary, keep in mind you can assassinate the Warden: During his final bit of health, he widens his stance and draws a new sword. During this animation, or anytime after, you can assassinate him to save some bullets. 3 animations: Standard: On the ground, hold melee: Dash past the Warden, spinning him around then use him as a meatshield and repeatedly stab. Very high cover doing so, because Warden is so big Aerial: Jump or fall onto his back while holding melee: Roots the Warden in place, using him as cover and delivering multiple stabs. Longest animation for him to actually "die" to Alternate: When near a ledge, slope or cliff and the game deems the angle is worthy, whilst holding melee: Break the Warden's leg, jump up and plunge the knife, ending the fight instantly. Shortest animation to register his death (Literally 1.5 seconds after you drop off his body he dies) Will save you ~2 clips of standard weapon, 1 clip of power weapon ammo on average. Do NOT use a Binary rifle against Warden, doing so causes a glitch that makes him have a "forcefield" that rapidly damages and pushes you back because 343 makes perfect games!
I’ve been playing a good bit of Halo and have been watching lore vids a lot. Came across your stuff and I enjoy your vids a lot. Keep up the good work.
My problem with halo 4 and 5 was the retcon of the forerunners. Halo forshadow humanity was the forerunners as early as the original halo library level. Then spelled it out to players in halo 3. Then halo 4 turned forerunners into generic doomsday aliens.
I loved halo 5 for its immersion. The movement, graphics, and being able to put on headphones with the Xbox one controller just made it feel real as a kid.
@empirednw6624 I beat the campaign back when the game released, and, yes... it wasn't really memorable. I remember wondering where those animals from the trailer were and why there wasn't a variety of landscapes, making it feel like I'm repeating missions. There were some fun times, especially experimenting with the grapple, but this is just average for me. LOL, I remember when co-op was released and my brother and I tried it in the hardest difficulty level. 2 missions in, we were bored and forgot about the game. Maybe if the release split-screen, we will do it, but that's likely never to happen.
@@beartacklehow would splitscreen change anything about the coop if you got bored of it two missions in? That just seems like you complaining about a feature that is obsolescent with how much more affordable consoles are nowadays.
@@lupusebrius It's always been fun playing with your buddies next to you. That's why I host game nights with my friends. Sure, we can play online, but it doesn't beat the experience playing with my buddies, drinking good stuff, eating junk food, and just enjoying each other's company. You complaining to me about it reminds me of after I visited Cape Town, and my friend's father said he can just see pictures of it online, so there is no need to travel. While that's true, it doesn't beat the experience of being there, hiking up Table Mountain, and enjoying other people's company. In other words, just doing things online isn't always the best option.
My biggest gripe with Locke is he was referred to as “Agent Locke” until Halo 5 launched and then he was “Spartan Locke.” During the advertising I was convinced that Locke was an ONI operative hunting down Chief and the game was going to go into a few story points about ONI and the Spartan II program (given Halsey at the beginning of Halo 4). Sadly the story was okay.
A fun fact: As my first time playing Halo 2 was Co-op, Player 1 & me both missed out on The Heretic & The Armoury, so that was effectively our introduction to Arbiter. Nevertheless, we still got his meeting in The Mausoleum before we later realised what we had missed, so it still wasn't as abrupt as anything Halo 5: Guardians throws at you. And speaking as somebody who did invest in the additional media heavily until some time after Halo 4 (I began to stop caring after then, particularly as it's use of it as excuses for business, PR or design decisions became far more obvious), even I was left puzzled by some things such as "Wait, why is Buck a Spartan?" (I got told about the book and bloody hell, no amount of course correction that it got is going to make me want to), "Who are these two ladies in Fireteam Osiris?" (Vale at least had an interesting biography from the outset) and "You're just going to wrap up Spartan Ops right here & now?", especially as early prototypes showcased a Fireteam Osiris without Buck, almost hinting that maybe the Recruit-armour-wearing Thorne from Spartan Ops might be the familiar face and that they either were "Pulling an Arbiter" or they late-in-development felt the sudden need to service fans (And if you ask me, they shouldn't have even bothered considering that H5:G gives Nathan Fillion far too few opportunities at best to inject any amount of personality into his role). I remember thinking about the 'Waste of Time Filler' missions as taking a page out of Wolfenstein: The New Order's in-between mission safehouse moments (The game had released more than a year prior to surprising critical acclaim), but there are reasons why I got emotionally attached to those whereas I reckon Halo 5: Guardians just does nothing more than waste your time: - Wolfenstein: The New Order uses it as relief from missions that can be very intensive (At least thanks to Mick Gordon's music) if not lengthy due to how quiet or loud you may play them. Unless you're playing Halo 5: Guardians above Normal, you probably don't need that - Wolfenstein: The New Order uses them as time for you to get to know it's cast & the outside world, if not tell smaller stories within them. Halo 5: Guardians mostly just uses it to tell a few cheap or even rotten jokes (The 'Do Not Open' audio log is one such case of "This could've been hilarious if the writers actually knew the audience for this joke or 343 Industries wasn't trying to so densely force upon appeal for the relevant character that did not exist largely by design") if not make a few references - Wolfenstein: The New Order hides various secrets, including a whole Wolfenstein 3D level in the form of a "nightmare". As far as I am aware, Halo 5: Guardians just has Audio Logs & the aforementioned jokes to find in them (I'm told more "Mythic" weapons can be found, so perhaps my dissatisfaction with Halo 5: Guardians, even after two Co-op playthroughs with two friends, just lead me to not bother "trinket-hunting", especially as what trinkets I did find could even end up discouraging me from bothering). It's a lot of bother over them, perhaps, but coming off of something that did so much for me, it just perhaps boggled my mind that Halo 5: Guardians couldn't do more with them than to make me & those I played it with mostly just mock it. I do concede that Wolfenstein: The New Order doesn't give you much options of skipping them besides "Just do the primary objective", but I think they earn their place far more sincerely than Halo 5: Guardians manages to. I've often said that while Halo 4 is something of a mixed bag across the board, Halo 5: Guardians has unmissable sections of quality where you can see where the developmental priorities lied. And I'm sure this is something of a tiresome verdict, but the Campaign ended up close to the bottom of the list (Maybe Theater got the actual bottom of that list), especially as there are reports that the direction for it never largely came together to the point that even the soundtrack suffered as a result (I think the short version is that those originally on the Spartan Ops team had to take over after departures of staff key to Halo 4's direction, and composer Kazuma Jinnouchi may simply not have had clear-cut material to make anything as characteristic & distinctive as he managed for Halo 4 with such companions to Neil Davidge's work as 'Mantis' & '117'). Very long story short; Halo 5: Guardians has a Campaign I call "frustratingly bland".
I’m more disappointed that halo infinite skips all the stuff halo 5 setup with us meeting up with Halsey and the arbiter in the end. Imagine getting to play the events in between 5 and infinite and seeing Halsey arbiter and chief work together and seeing some sort of dialog between Halsey and evil Cortana. But instead we got a boring open world halo game where we’re just learning about what happened instead of playing it.
Considering that 343 don't know how to write characters, it's for the best we didn't see it. It's a shame they were so bold to make Infinite's crappy campaign.
One thing I definitely disliked the most was as you mentioned, if you didn’t read a book or watch or play something else, you have no idea what’s going on and it really takes you out of the story and makes you less invested. The original trilogy was a complete story. From beginning to end you knew what was going on as it’s a direct continuation and if you wanted to know more about a certain part you could do that with books
....I think I actually have that book shown on screen somewhere. I used to read a lot of the Halo books because I enjoy the lore of the series, but I could never really get into the Promethean related ones. Fall of Reach is epic, though, and I like the post-Halo 3 books about Naomi and Halsey.
This was a very well thought out video with excellent observations towards both the story and gameplay elements of Halo 5. I touched on a number of these elements in my own video and agree with most of your points. Excellent video and loved the jokes too 🙂
I'm happy to hear a review that takes a slightly more optimistic approach to things, like how you were describing you generally enjoyed the experience of playing and the environments. There are lots of times where I'll watch a movie thinking it was enjoyable, only for reviews to say it was the worst thing ever, without appreciating the little things that make it at least entertaining. That being said, Reach is my favorite Halo, ODST was a super fun experience that I saw more as a DLC, and I played the first level of Halo 5 and instantly "Noped" out lmao.
Halo 5 + Amazing gameplay + Beautiful graphics that hold up to this day + Very polished + The gunplay is probably the best in the series - The story (my god...) - It's too short - Locke is.. well, Locke - The emphasis on co-op. Why waste energy and resources on it and not make a longer and more compelling story? The game is a product of its time, when Xbox made a lot of strange and outright bad decisions, and it shows. But the game is still a lot of fun and has a lot of good qualities, despite the (HUGE!!!) flaws. I would give it a 3/5, or 6/10.
The halo 5 and infinite story were so confusing to me because I had no idea what was going on because it all relies on you reading and doing other stuff so it made the game unfun and a chore to try and figure out what was happening
My biggest gripe with Halo 5's campaign is the fact that if Master Chief just decided to go to a planet on his own orders, what is the UNSC/ONI going to do, stop him? He's done more for the entirety of humanity than the entirety of humanity and honestly deserved some time to himself, especially when the man who Chief saved as a Cadet sends other unreliable Spartans to kill the man that saved him. Chief also seems to have a lot more freedom of movement in the UNSC and the military so Chief just visiting a planet because he thinks Cortana is there is well within that freedom of movement he has.
Chief doesn’t actually have that much freedom of movement in the grand scheme of things. When he’s boots on the ground, he has a large degree of autonomy, but other than that, not really. If he’s on the deck of a UNSC ship, he’s supposed to do what he’s told.
In the process of playing all the halo games in correct order. Just finished odst and I’m a few levels into 3. Find your videos because of it. Good stuff. Subbed 👍
The difference between hunt the truth and halo 5s campaign wasn't the marketing teams fault. One of the reasons 5s campaign feels so clunky especially the blue team missions is that it had a last minut rewrite. Originally you weren't going to play as chief at all. The entire story got reshuffled, and blue team was injected into levels that were already made for the original story.
Halo 5's campaign was a good idea but it was just so poorly executed and without checking out the expanded lore of Halo it gets very confusing while the latter issue didn't affect me as I usually check out expanded lore I'm just speaking on behalf of those who don't... thanks a lot Brian Reed (Halo 5 Lead Writer). "I can't imagine what it's like on Legendary." Oh believe me Frog I went there when I beat this on Legendary back in 2019, I died so many times during that fight that I lost count.
I did the same. Never played the game before. Finally went into it on Legendary in preparation for Infinite. Shit was a slog. The AI is what killed it for me. From shitty enemy AI that feels just lame to fight like the soldiers and prowlers, to the ally AI that doesn't even have a Nav-Mesh as complete as the same enemies mentioned before. The enemy jumps up to a slightly higher rock you're on and downs you. Then your allies have to revive you because that was a mechanic they decided to add for no reason. Then your allies can't reach you because they can't also jump up onto the same slightly higher rock? Terrible. Just truly awful. I only enjoyed the first MC missions, and then hated every other one as they had increasingly terrible AI encounters. Warden Eternal was just a dingleberry on the top of that shit sundae.
Oh right, I typically forget to mention one heavy critique I have about the game, so I'll add it here. The campaign was written as a chase, and then a rush to save everyone, which means from start to finish you're always narratively hurried along. This is a very fine way of storytelling, but there was an issue. To encourage this, by the way, the characters in the game are made to constantly run behind the scene timers that the moment you don't get to the next objective they will chime in with an annoying little reminder "we gotta get to the [blank] before [blank] [blanks] the [blank]". Again, this is a mechanic that has been known to be annoying since the day Navi first said "Hey, listen!" in Ocarina of Time. But again, just a minor annoyance and a fine way of trying to rush the player along in a game that's meant to be a race to save the world. The issue comes into play the moment they took the Halo formula's 1 secret item on each mission, 1 terminal, 1 or 2 data pads, and expanded it to 5+ hidden items! Why in the name of good game design/writing would you every add more exploration to a game that you yourself you wrote to be a rush of a story? Why would you then add in a mechanic that annoys you the moment you spend 15 seconds not heading to the next objective!? It's just bind numbingly stupid! The game designers that made that game were amateur hour, and this coming from someone who isn't even a professional myself! Sorry, that one is one that strikes a nerve due to how often the characters nag. Just thinking about it makes me want to chew the lead designers out.
Being a long time Halo fan, I've had this conversation multiple times with many friends and random gamers over the years. Most people have at least two of three issues with playing as Locke: 1. It's a mainline Halo game (not a spinoff like Reach and ODST), so it should be focused on Chief. 2. You play as Locke for a whopping 12/15 missions. They should've done something closer to an even split like Halo 2 did. 3. Like you said, Locke (and tbh all of Fireteam Osiris minus Buck) is boring. Couple that with the marketing that makes him look awesome and it's an even bigger let down. If the last two of these three issues were fixed, people would still complain as Halo fans are known for doing, but it'd be much less so than what we ended up with.
After playing through all the games for the first time, all in co-op, I think 5 gets a lot more hate than it deserves. The story is nonsensical, but that impacts you less in co-op. The game really does shine in its level design and it's gameplay, it's a lot of fun! Personally, I really enjoyed the warden encounters and was almost left wanting more of them. They essentially felt like hunters but their weak point was even more vulnerable. When you think of them as an enemy rather than a boss I think it's easier to understand what they were trying to do with them
@@Keanine Then the game should have launched with split screen co-op. Personally I only played it in the month prior to Infinite and in single player, and my usual I started on Legendary. And I completely disagree with all your points except that the story was nonsensical. 😆
@@Will_Forge I won't disagree there, the fact it doesn't have split-screen is definitely something I should have mentioned and pissed me off big time. I had to use Game Pass to stream it to my PC so I could play with someone in the room next to me. Absolutely awful
I’m doing a play through with a friend rn and It’s actually really enjoyable, we’re both on the 3rd level and really enjoying it thus far. I know how it goes from playing it a while ago but experiencing it with someone else that I enjoy playing with is a great experience. 😁
@@bruhgod123 No, it was also okay. At least it wasn't filled with so many bugs and terrible enemy/ally Ai, and bad level design decisions as H5. And it has a great tank/mantis level. And it introduce the mantis. I really truly don't like H4, by the way. I'm just explaining why it's mid rather than terrible. Also I rebel against the slang of "mid" meaning the worst thing ever. It came first from calling it "middling tier". That's not terrible by definition. Can't justify that slang nonsense.
@@Will_Forge for a matter of a fact the ally ai is terrible and also the lighting is so fucking bright and the prometheans are unbalanced as hell you cant tell me an enemy that teleports and spawns enemies to revive it right after it dies is fun to fight theres only 3 viable weapons in the campaign because ammo almost doesnt exist and thats the boltshot suppressor and lightrifle all of which are copy and pasted
@@bruhgod123 Halo reach launched and people found it a downgrade in quality so it was hated. Halo 4 launched and took what made Reach good and threw it out while keeping the bad so 4 became the worst and Reach was now a decent game. Halo 5 came out and took what made 4 bad and made it worse and took the good and threw it out so people now looked at 4 as a decent game and 5 as the worst. Infinite came out and people initially loved the initial promise and it took what made 5 good and kinda kept it and took the bad and seemed to be throwing it out.....Only for people to now want the bad from Halo 5 because somehow just like Activision with Overwatch they made the req packs (Loot boxes) look better than the new f2p micro hell. Btw they keep increasing the price whenever they listen to the community. Community asked for cross core and they said "Alright....But in return any item added to cross core will be increased in price!" with an armor set almost being a full price game at this point (About 30 dollars where I live for an armor and 60 for a game) and the bundles being almost 100 dollars. They somehow make Destiny 2 look less greedy and hell the original plan was to do a yearly PAID dlc just like Destiny they only stopped because they didn't have the resources to do so and believed in the original vision they had with 5 in that Halo should be competitive and so they focused all their effort onto the pvp. Also the operations are so annoying. A single buy season pass where buying 1 gets you all of them was fine still annoying with the fact it takes about 200 matches to complete a season but whatever I guess but the new "Operation" passes are literally the same price for less content and you don't get enough for another pass as far as I can tell (I think you get half of your stuff back meaning you need to buy 2 to get 1) btw these are temporary meaning if you don't buy them they're gone forever. You know the one thing they had over D2 being that fomo with seasons wasn't going to be a thing like how they did with mcc. Now it's fomo.
My friend and I replayed this game's campaign co-op (the first time either of us had since launch), and neither of us remembered how the story went beyond the second mission. We never got to find out because it turns out that the cutscenes dont play in co-op and just throw you into each mission.
I actually liked the detective levels where you walk around and talk to characters, though I feel like it was once part of a much cooler more expansive idea. Sanghelios is still the best selection of missions in the game.
That Glassed mission bit is actually so eye opening. When you stated that it took you fifteen minutes to beat all I could think of was “really it only took that long to meet and talk to Sloan?”.
I was late to the halos franchise but I heard about how much everyone hated halo 5. Than I played it and actually liked it? I did, and still do. Most of the hate towards the game seems to come down to petty fans. Though I wasn’t there for the false advertising, I’ve seen it and frankly I think it’s time everyone got tf over it. The game itself is fun, the story is a bit messy and the walking around and talking to people levels is completely pointless, but other then that I had a good time with it. There were definitely things that could have been improved about the story. Locke for one thing, there’s nothing bad about him, he just needed a real character ark. If he had been introduced in halo 4 as a minor character it greatly would have benefited his character. Warden Eternal still has tons of potential as a character and I genuinely enjoyed the boss fights because he fascinated me, so I tried to get as much dialogue out of him as possible to figure out what his deal was. He acts like Cortana’s overprotective dad but I felt there was more to him. Halo infinite introduced the endless and I was sure Warden was some of them, and he might even appear in infinite maybe as an ally against them but I’m not surprised that he didn’t. Cortana was easy to fix. I had no problem with her being evil in Halo 5 as I assumed she was being manipulated by some other force in the domain like Mendicant Bies and that Cortana would be redeemed but halo infinite decided to off her in the lamest way possible instead.
Honestly I enjoyed halo 5, I even found the idea of evil Cortana very interesting (altough doing it in the game immediately after 4 is wild) The only *slight* problem I had with it was that when I reached the end I felt like I was in the middle of the game rather that at the actual end of it. The disappointment I felt was enormous, you went through all the trouble of making an admittedly extremely bold villain arch for a beloved character only to solve it off screen and to introduce the main antagonist of you're next game in a random strategy game that 90% of your playerbase will not play? I mean I get halo wars is technically the origin of the whole halo franchise, but it's the fps people love The way they managed the lore in-between 5 and infinite was absolutely awful
it's like Jen Taylor made a contract saying she has to be the main character in every Halo game and 343 have to somehow come up with some stupid reason why she's a primary character still
H5 Cortana, or the way they resolved her plot in Infinite? I know I'm not the frog, but IMO they did fine enough in H5, but did actual good in Infinite. IMO H5's plot would have been more interesting if that Cortana was one of her partial copies from Halo CE left behind on that destroyed ring. It gained access to the Domain, and used an incomplete upload of the actual Cortana to make itself whole again when she tried to escape into the domain in H4 just before saving MC. This would let them have her behave in as many rampant and unexpected ways as they wanted without having to claim that she's actually cured of rampancy and just has always been this murderous dictator by nature that we've never seen before. The Ai that used to willingly stay behind to sacrifice herself for the greater good has been cured of rampancy and yet also decided that mass extinction events are in fact good and she should be the supreme dictator? Yeah, no she's still rampant. But this fragment story I think is much more interesting than what they wrote. But anyway, MC's hand was literally on that nuke, and yet somehow he was saved by being put into a 15 foot diameter sphere hardlight energy shield that would have actually contained the blast exclusively to him instead? Let's just say 343i's writing surrounding Cortana has been shit since Halo 4, and I actually feel that The Weapon and the end of Cortana in Infinite is finally a solution by laying her to bed for good. Assuming in Infinite that's actually The Weapon and not Cortana in disguise, which I wouldn't put past the previous 343i writers to pull out of left field in a novel at the very least. Then we'd see Halo 7 come out with Cortana mysteriously returned and no explanation. I don't actually think this is what's in store because 343i and Infinite has a much better writing team than H4 and H5, and The Weapon is a really good new direction to take, but damn if I'm not trepidations after 4 and 5.
Halo 5 was one of the first games I ever really played back when I got my first xbox. I loved it. Genuinely got me addicted for a good while. I didn’t really get the story, but I learned I’m more of a gameplay guy overall. So I would just have fun screwing around.
I just wanted to mention that the Scattershot’s projectiles will bounce off walls and floors to redirect to nearby enemies. It does t really redeem it for me but it is at least unique. I know the Fuel Rod can bounce early in its shot but it doesn’t also track
I think the issue with the examples you gave of not playing as chief in other games is the fact that 2 of the 3 of those games were spin offs and never advertised playing as chief. As for 2, the game still gives a 50/50 mix of playing Arbiter to Chief and intertwine their stories better than Chiefs story with Locke, but to be fair that last point is just a subjective opinion.
Halo CE: Master Chief stops Covenant from releasing the flood. Halo 2: Arbiter and Master Chief try to stop the Covenant, and prevent a Halo firing. Halo 3: Covenant is broken at last Halo 4: Cortana has split personality crisis, dies fighting Space Voldemort Halo 5: CORTANA IS RESURRECTED AS A GENOCIDAL DICTATOR, and all the Spartans besides Buck and Chief suck. Halo Infinite: Master Chief took a power nap and everyone died.
Halo 5 as a whole wasnt as bad to me as people make it out to be. Unfortunately the campaign wasnt that good but it did some things well. What i did really like was the multiplayer and it was one of my favorite. I met many online friends on it and remebering infection gives me nostalgia. Hopefully they fix infinite a bit more
story stinks so bad. the 343 trilogy gives me a ton of star wars sequel vibes in hindsight, constantly over correcting on feedback so that none of the entries cohere properly and no one person has a commanding vision of what the series should be doing (ex: Jason Jones). not to mention the lack of coherent worldbuilding explaining the antagonists and conflicts (unless you go read a bunch of novels)
I just recently played halo 3 with some friends and I gotta say it really lives up to its expectations (a flawless game that was forged by the gods themselves) 😂
There are no Hitscan weapons in the original trilogy. In Halo 2 you can reduce the actual speed of the projectiles of Human weapons and the Battle Rifle specifically and at longer ranges you have to lead your shots. The problem with OG Halo 3 is that the BR feels a lot more inconsistent in MP.
weve finally got around to the point in the halo cycle where people are so fed up with the current game they revisit the most hated game in the series and realize it wasnt as bad as they thought. Happens for every game since 3
I'll never forgive bringing Cortana back from the dead to become a female AI austrian artist.
Honestly it's even more wild that they resolve the conflict with her between games. Frog is right about that becoming a central 343 problem.

As someone who obsessively read all of the lore books and stuff when I was younger, pretty much the ONLY good thing about Halo 5's story was that awesome moment of "HOLY SHIT I'M ACTUALLY FIGHTING WITH BLUE TEAM???"
First thing that angered me in 5 was how they killed jul mdamma since he had alot of buildup in the books as well

Even post Infinite.
my assumption is they were planning to make it so cortana lost her mind from the rampancy and saw that the only way to save the universe was to rebuild it but that really is only based on the fact i don’t think cortana ever got rid of her rampancy she just injected some into the ship
i think a dlc with cortana echos could give us a solid answer but i honestly think we’re more likely to see halo 7 than them backtrack to the most hated game
I was hoping infinite would take place right after 5 and would have paid off
I would really appreciate seeing something resolve from 5. At this point, I've decided that old Halo should stay in the past. The series needs to move on from its roots and experiment with new concepts. Halo 5 was a decent, though poorly executed, place for that to start. I just wish Infinite didn't try to sweep it under the rug like it was hiding something shameful.
yeah its really unfortunate they cut 2/3 of the infinite campaign, i feel like we would have at least got some details
i disagree, halo 5 should be forgotten, the devs behind it were toxic af and dont deserve to feel any pride over it.
"Does Infinite expand up it at all?" Hahaha, that's funny.
in a word yes but its rough
its just obvious they needed to write around this plot thread so its a compromised resolution

in short all the cortana stuff in infinite is flashback/recording style on something that happened off screen and we find out only in bits and pieces as we get through the campaign, she kinda gets a do over to go back to her halo 4 ending that she does need to protect the chief but its not elegant and ultimately proves that bringing her back in 5 was a mistake
theres a new AI called the weapon and the weapon is an exact copy of cortana created by halsey but the weapon doesnt know that (which becomes relavent to the weapons character arc) and theres this friction that comes from the weapon being chiefs new AI and chief being unwilling to trust the new AI after what happened with cortana
the camapign overall is trying to soft reboot the franchize and is very modern take of Halo CE vibe thing but it has a rough spots as a result of all the crap that came before that didnt work needing to be paid lip service
Honestly, introducing the weapon was cheap. Should have just had no ai for one game.
Always wanted to know what a Frog thought of Halo 5
Halo 5 MP was very different, but very fun, but the campaign was the most unremarkable thing i have ever played

Relatedly I also take no issue with Masterchief passing the torch, but it needs to be well explored, as there is tons of fertile ground in a living superweapon who saved humanity multiple times having to learn to let go, both of the comrades and friends he lost, and of the constant suicide missions that once gave him purpose
something that's always bugged me is that the prologue cutscene they added to halo 2 anniversary is really peculiar in that a lot of it is from an "in-progress" version of 5
like all the elites have their H2A/classic designs, including the arbiter (despite him being turned into one of the new elite subspecies in 5), and one of locke's spartan buddies is a completely different character with a unique design, they even hint at a different plot for the most part, it's just weird to me that they'd seemingly have every bit of promo material from a part of the game that was eventually scrapped or rewritten entirely
Buck was originally Thorne from Spartan Ops but nobody played that
They did that in H2A's opening and outro cutscenes because those were the assets Blur had on station for rendering.
The trailers for 5 were litterally going to be false advertising because the story never actually called for Locke and chief to fight at all
They had to add that fight scene in for legal reasons so they wouldn't get sued by angry players but it still turned out like shit because blue team goes through the portal and Osiris just sits there like "now what?" It would have been better for blue team and Osiris to just duke it out there 4v4 but nope cause that would be too much animation time for a scene that wasn't supposed to be in the game
Maybe it was planned to but it never needed it and ended up being forced
@@Nighterac Honestly tho buck being added to Halo 5 was one of the greatest fan service in Halo
People had been begging for years to bring back blue team to be fair. People wanted the whole squad thing. It was one of the things praised in fact.
You know what! you are right!! I did love the lone wolf missions or seccions in other games!
Not to mention the horrible AI they came with! I think there shoulda been some missions with blue team and some missions with Chief alone like Halo 2 did.
Agreed that was one of my criticisms of Reach, I could not stand noble members being with me on any mission, they felt either in the way or annoying by taking my kills; so as soon each started getting taken out one by one I rarely had any emotion.
the Osiris spartans had a decent amount of characterization in the allied spartans' combat barks... which you never hear, because 343i couldn't figure out how to implement radio for it, so if your spartans travel away from you on these massive levels that encourage you to climb up really high, then you can't hear them at all
even when the chatter in question is gameplay-relevant, like when a squadmate goes down and needs a revive
anyway buck and vale had some endearing combat barks that hint at more about them. vale, for example, has combat barks that wouldn't sound out of place coming from an elite. she's not just the group's translator; she's like a weeb for sangheili, and the idea, at least, is adorable
With one of the mancannons and the spartan crash ability you can actually skip the triple warden fight which makes legendary a lot less terrible
Legendary isn't bad with teammates. The squad system is rather good.
The campaign itself is not bad. The story isn't even bad. It's just not AS good as the rest. Which isn't the same as being bad.

I never noticed them disappearing, but they did drop to 30fps at a distance, which is why they looked choppy.

I never understood the criticism the Halo 2 Arbiter/Covenant levels got. I loved them back then just as I do now. They told an interesting story and I quite like the character/s involved. Halo 5 had an identity crisis. I felt like it was trying to hard to be something it wasn’t
I personally really like halo 5 too
I finished recently and it wasn't like, the worst game ever made. It's not my favorite campaign or anything but it had a couple moments. Being able to see Sangheilios in-game was cool and I liked sunaion. It was also neat seeing blue team in the game even if it was only for like 3 missions
Tbh I'm a lore hound now so I liked the references to stuff but i get criticisms about halo 5 kinda needing it
If you ever go back into 5 on Legendary, keep in mind you can assassinate the Warden:
During his final bit of health, he widens his stance and draws a new sword. During this animation, or anytime after, you can assassinate him to save some bullets. 3 animations:
Standard: On the ground, hold melee: Dash past the Warden, spinning him around then use him as a meatshield and repeatedly stab. Very high cover doing so, because Warden is so big
Aerial: Jump or fall onto his back while holding melee: Roots the Warden in place, using him as cover and delivering multiple stabs. Longest animation for him to actually "die" to
Alternate: When near a ledge, slope or cliff and the game deems the angle is worthy, whilst holding melee: Break the Warden's leg, jump up and plunge the knife, ending the fight instantly. Shortest animation to register his death (Literally 1.5 seconds after you drop off his body he dies)
Will save you ~2 clips of standard weapon, 1 clip of power weapon ammo on average.
Master Chief literally realizes they're human in Halo 4 during a conversation with the Librarian though?

Dunkey made an incredible point about how 'loud' the visuals in the game are. 'Is that an enemy or a lens flare?'
Never forgive the now defunct game company 343 for killing the rookie off in a FUCKING COMIC BOOK instead of letting him become a spartan 4
I was expecting a Frawg video and got exactly what I was hopping for. 🐸
My biggest gripe with Locke is he was referred to as “Agent Locke” until Halo 5 launched and then he was “Spartan Locke.”
During the advertising I was convinced that Locke was an ONI operative hunting down Chief and the game was going to go into a few story points about ONI and the Spartan II program (given Halsey at the beginning of Halo 4).
I remember thinking about the 'Waste of Time Filler' missions as taking a page out of Wolfenstein: The New Order's in-between mission safehouse moments (The game had released more than a year prior to surprising critical acclaim), but there are reasons why I got emotionally attached to those whereas I reckon Halo 5: Guardians just does nothing more than waste your time:
- Wolfenstein: The New Order uses it as relief from missions that can be very intensive (At least thanks to Mick Gordon's music) if not lengthy due to how quiet or loud you may play them. Unless you're playing Halo 5: Guardians above Normal, you probably don't need that
- Wolfenstein: The New Order uses them as time for you to get to know it's cast & the outside world, if not tell smaller stories within them. Halo 5: Guardians mostly just uses it to tell a few cheap or even rotten jokes (The 'Do Not Open' audio log is one such case of "This could've been hilarious if the writers actually knew the audience for this joke or 343 Industries wasn't trying to so densely force upon appeal for the relevant character that did not exist largely by design") if not make a few references
- Wolfenstein: The New Order hides various secrets, including a whole Wolfenstein 3D level in the form of a "nightmare".
Very long story short; Halo 5: Guardians has a Campaign I call "frustratingly bland".
i love the level where you are running down the guardian and headshotting crawlers on your way down
0:25 Actually Halo had always projectile weapons, CE had projectiles but Halo 2 also had projectile weapons.
I love how Infinite tells you more about what happened during 5, than what actually did happen during 5
I’m more disappointed that halo infinite skips all the stuff halo 5 setup with us meeting up with Halsey and the arbiter in the end.
They knew we hated Halo 5 campaign and thought.... Soft reboot, but get the most popular thing from Halo Wars 2 and make em fight Chief
Awesome video, Frog. And dope Agalloch reference too lol, that caught me off-guard
Halo 5 Warzone is the one of the greatest Halo multiplayer game modes period ( . )
....I think I actually have that book shown on screen somewhere.
Excellent video and loved the jokes too 🙂
Thanks, I liked your Nak3dEli interview
The multiplayer has always been fun for me. But since I am not exactly good at multiplayer it was always nice to fight in war zone
Halo 5
+ Amazing gameplay
+ Beautiful graphics that hold up to this day
+ Very polished
+ The gunplay is probably the best in the series
- The story (my god...)
- It's too short
- Locke is.. well, Locke
- The emphasis on co-op.
Good stuff. Subbed 👍
I’d be curious to hear your review after playing on legendary.
For some reason I want him to fake a speedrun, with the sole reason, that he then could start his apology video with "Hello everyone, I'm a Fraud." xD
I liked the Halo 5 campaign. The fact that it ended on a cliffhanger is what killed it for me.

Wasn't expecting the Agalloch reference
Cool fact, every Halo game has had projectile weapons.
The difference was the bullet velocity, Halo 3's was significantly slower than CE ane 2's.
Jul Mdama should have been a boss fight instead of him being killed in the first mission.
IN A CUTSCENE.
Immediately running out of ammo and then playing the entire game with alien weapons was extremely annoying.
Being a long time Halo fan, I've had this conversation multiple times with many friends and random gamers over the years. Most people have at least two of three issues with playing as Locke:
0:44 same. I just used up my free XBox Live time and haven't touched Halo 5 since.
When you think of them as an enemy rather than a boss I think it's easier to understand what they were trying to do with them
"left wanting more Warden fights"

@@PANCAKEMINEZZ It's possible they're no fun to fight in singleplayer, but co-op they were the most unique, interesting enemy in the game imo lol

Halo is just so great as a series, that the worst game by far still is pretty ok and enjoyable
Ehhh I personally don’t think Halo 5 is enjoyable. Every good decision they made is bogged down by several bad ones attached to it.
first vid ive ever seen and i have to say the intro is a 10/10. "hello, ima frog. HALO IS PEAK"
Locke is supposed dead also.
Honestly I enjoyed halo 5, I even found the idea of evil Cortana very interesting (altough doing it in the game immediately after 4 is wild)
The only *slight* problem I had with it was that when I reached the end I felt like I was in the middle of the game rather that at the actual end of it. The disappointment I felt was enormous, you went through all the trouble of making an admittedly extremely bold villain arch for a beloved character only to solve it off screen and to introduce the main antagonist of you're next game in a random strategy game that 90% of your playerbase will not play? I mean I get halo wars is technically the origin of the whole halo franchise, but it's the fps people love
The way they managed the lore in-between 5 and infinite was absolutely awful
Would you ever do a video on the modding scene? I would love your takes on Rebalanced CE, Halo 2 Uncut, and Halo 3 Evolved.
I thought about doing a vid where I cover a bunch of different mods, yeah
it's like Jen Taylor made a contract saying she has to be the main character in every Halo game and 343 have to somehow come up with some stupid reason why she's a primary character still
Hey what are your thoughts on Cortana becoming evil? In my opinion it's the worst decision 343 has ever made but I just wanna know your thoughts.
Did i just witness a black metal reference in a halo 5 video? Edit: wow, he legit put up Allogoch in this video. What a madman, i love it
We love actual objective thinking
Halo 5 was one of the first games I ever really played back when I got my first xbox. I loved it. Genuinely got me addicted for a good while. I didn’t really get the story, but I learned I’m more of a gameplay guy overall. So I would just have fun screwing around.
4:49 had me creasing because I’m sure that exact scenario happened to so many people
They developers were joking about this exact scenario in the dev commentary :)
The scattershot has tracking after it bounces. Its actually a lot cooler than you'd think!
Halo CE: Master Chief stops Covenant from releasing the flood.
Halo 2: Arbiter and Master Chief try to stop the Covenant, and prevent a Halo firing.
Halo 3: Covenant is broken at last
Halo 4: Cortana has split personality crisis, dies fighting Space Voldemort
Halo 5: CORTANA IS RESURRECTED AS A GENOCIDAL DICTATOR, and all the Spartans besides Buck and Chief suck.

Hopefully they fix infinite a bit more
Before I even watch this: Yes, it absolutely 100% is as bad as it was before.
So weird that this is still the one game that is locked to the console it was released on.
story stinks so bad. the 343 trilogy gives me a ton of star wars sequel vibes in hindsight, constantly over correcting on feedback so that none of the entries cohere properly and no one person has a commanding vision of what the series should be doing (ex: Jason Jones). not to mention the lack of coherent worldbuilding explaining the antagonists and conflicts (unless you go read a bunch of novels)
Meanwhile all I need is to see what ugly apes 343 turned Sanghelli into to say never go back
I just recently played halo 3 with some friends and I gotta say it really lives up to its expectations (a flawless game that was forged by the gods themselves) 😂
Halo 2 campaign, at least story wise, is infinitely better
@@ILoveMoms445 I think we can both agree we have our own opinions 💯💯💯 (they both have arby so they’re both alright with me)
There are no Hitscan weapons in the original trilogy. In Halo 2 you can reduce the actual speed of the projectiles of Human weapons and the Battle Rifle specifically and at longer ranges you have to lead your shots. The problem with OG Halo 3 is that the BR feels a lot more inconsistent in MP.
Just sad to see what 343 did with Halo… they clearly did not know what to do, there are so many obvious improvements!😢
So glad they've fixed 99% of them with and during Infinite.
@Will_Forge Halo Infinte was and still remains just, boring.
I liked having variety of weapons regardless if it was "just a shotgun" and this kind of criticism is why Halo: Infinite has few classic weapons.
Halo 5 was so bad it made me quit being a Halo fan. There's a reason Halo lost it's entire OG fanbase
Speak for yourself.
They clothed my girl. I'll never forgive them.
Crucially the artstyle was ruined.
weve finally got around to the point in the halo cycle where people are so fed up with the current game they revisit the most hated game in the series and realize it wasnt as bad as they thought. Happens for every game since 3
I prefer Infinite so no
