Nik, how do you pick songs for covers? Is it like: you just listening your playlis and realizing "I want to play this and i will do it!"? Or it is something else?
As well as it was actually a remix of blow me away, I looked it up I was mistaken, my apologies. However still some interesting info on the band. Full permission to trash me for being an ass with mistaken information 😩
@@gsquared5914 this song came out before dear agony and the band broke up after. Aaron and Mark got the Shallow Bay compilation album released which Ben didn’t want
I still have to thank Halo 2 for introducing me to such a badass band, this was the first song I heard from Breaking Benjamin and I fell in love with them after Diary of Jane
I got introduced to them after listening to Simple Design on my friend's IPod while playing chess with him and his dad at his house. I had already heard Polyamorous on the WWE Wreckoning game (I think?) a couple years ago, but that was when I really got into them, and hard rock in general.
Is it sad that I didn't know halo 2 was a thing until halo 3 came out? Is it sad that I didn't know this song existed until 2009? Is it sad that I've been a huge BB fan since we are not alone...?
Yeah, Breaking Benjamin was my intro to screaming too. From here I went to Bullet for my Valentine, then to Trivium, and kept on falling down the metal rabbit hole. No turning back now.
That entire Halo album was a banger: Hoobastank's Connected, In Amber Clad, Earth In Peril (I think?) Follow, all the Halo OST's, just good stuff. Always made me think of Star Wars for some reason.
@@chaoschaoforever I thought Incubus was on there but I couldn't remember what track; now I hear, "Follow!" in the singer's voice. I liked Incubus a lot too, though for some reason I think I've only deep-dived into 1 of their albums, so I just remember random songs; Black Heart Inertia, Drive, and Dig.
Blow Me Away really got me into Breaking Benjamin all the way back in 2008, even though it was released as the OST for Halo 2 back in 2004. They are a legendary band! Love the cover as well!
Perfectly timed release with the 20 year anniversary of the Halo series. Classic song and still one of my top five bands. Awesome job as always Nik 🔥🤘😎
This was such a killer song, especially when you’re blasting your way through Covenant. The new Periphery stuff for the Anniversary edition is awesome in its own way, but I’ll always have nostalgic love for this track
People can shit on this band all they want but they were HUGE for me as a young teen just getting into rock and metal. and honestly so many of their songs still slap
I've been on a Halo journey since last october with MCC after like 2007 or so, how in the hell did I miss this one? Still on my way through Halo 4, but I've watched a ton of videos regarding the universe, story, music, developement... Everything. Breaking Benjamin really made a stellar track and Bungie had the perfect places to throw it into. This song hit hard while going through Halo 2.
That chorus is Awesome and so damn huge!!!! Great way to start a day! How are you so talented I'll steal it from you. Every morning I wake up and search for your notifications Your the best dude! The likes are exactly 666!!
Dude I just watched your "Modern rock" video and I completely agree about wtf is rock nowadays, but somewhere I believe it's truly "rock" is Japan, for a band like BAND-MAID is a good example, people would say they are hard rock but it is hard to categorize them, I'd recommend checking out their song "DICE"
Honestly, Breaking Benjamin should get Nik on stage with them for a show or two like they did with Jared Dines when Ben saw that he covered one of their songs.
This song has lived rent free in my head ever since I first heard and saw it in Halo 2 elites, grunts and hunters battling Brutes Jackels and buggers in the mosuliuem with plama, needlers and fuel rod blasts flying everywhere while this song blasts in the background, the Covenant's racial tensions finally boiling over into the great Schism The covanant falling into civil war across high charity was so peak, it was crazy watching the enemy fight itself as a kid
Welcome to the Breaking Benjamin family. They are awesome, I'd highly recommend checking out more from them. "Diary of Jane", "Breath", "Failure" and "So Cold" are good places to start.
I don't know if you knew this and did this on purpose or not but...but BB did this song as a promo campaign for Halo 2 and the latest Halo game just came out/will be out soon. So nice one! if you had no clue, now you know and again nice! Thank you!
Nik can you create a playlist that has your favourite older songs such as this and what ever else you enjoyed back in the hay day. Even though I don’t listen to anything like that now, I still want to hear your favourite older tunes.
Maybe a Chevelle song next? Hunter Eats Hunter, The Red, Vitamin R (Leading Us Along), The Clincher, Hats Off To The Bull, Face To The Floor are all bangers.
This feels so weird without the intro leading into it. Also, no joke, as a kid I could never find this song because I kept thinking the intro was to Mephilles' 2nd Battle Theme in Sonic 06. I'd hear this song all over youtube and just think it's the 06' track and be unable to find it lol
What a tune, good job - what software do you use to overlay the interactive tab over the video? I've always thought if I started a channel, I'd wanna incorporate that in covers/playthroughs :)
*Breaking the like button, do et*
I did et
I need you to do a reaction to ‘Layers Of Time’ by Lacuna Coil PLEASE
Can you do tabs on for the likes of you. I really like their songs habitual gloom and forlorn
Nik, how do you pick songs for covers?
Is it like: you just listening your playlis and realizing "I want to play this and i will do it!"? Or it is something else?
Lord knows UA-cam already broke the dislike button
The fact they wrote this song for halo 2 for free, just cause they thought it was a dope game makes this song 10x better. Sick cover man
They %100 broke up because of that 🤣🤣 and Ben replaced everyone In the band besides himself because of that release 🤣🤣🤣
@@gsquared5914 it was actually cause a couple band members stole unreleased tracks from his album and tried to release them per the labels request
As well as it was actually a remix of blow me away, I looked it up I was mistaken, my apologies. However still some interesting info on the band. Full permission to trash me for being an ass with mistaken information 😩
@@gsquared5914 The remix is awful.

Breaking Benjamin songs are so fun to play on guitar
I know, they're aren't hard by any means, they just feel so good in raw power and rhythm.
@@alexhollon7526 that's true
If u know how to play them, yeah
Yup. This one, "So Cold", "Simple Design" and "Evil Angel" are great to practice with.
So true! Red songs are pretty fun too.
This was the first song I heard that had a breakdown and screaming in it. How far I've come
Yeah, Breaking Benjamin was my intro to screaming too. From here I went to Bullet for my Valentine, then to Trivium, and kept on falling down the metal rabbit hole. No turning back now.
I love that breakdown
Breaking Benjamin is love. Breaking Benjamin is life.
With Halo Infinite around the corner this is perfect timing to reminisce over Halo 2 and the introduction to this epic band.
Thanks for the feels Nik!
That entire Halo album was a banger: Hoobastank's Connected, In Amber Clad, Earth In Peril (I think?) Follow, all the Halo OST's, just good stuff. Always made me think of Star Wars for some reason.
Follow was actually made by Incubus which is one of my favorite bands!
@@chaoschaoforever I thought Incubus was on there but I couldn't remember what track; now I hear, "Follow!" in the singer's voice.

Feels like it's 2004. I'm staying home alone, drinking Dr. Pepper, eating hot pockets and playing Halo all day.
Facts!!!
I can't realize you just released this while I was actually listening the original song.
Blow Me Away really got me into Breaking Benjamin all the way back in 2008, even though it was released as the OST for Halo 2 back in 2004. They are a legendary band! Love the cover as well!
ONLY THE STRONGEST WILL SURVIVE!!! The very song that got me into Breaking Benjamin to begin with 🤘🤘
This is the song that got me into Halo. Thank Nascar 08 for getting me into the band lol
LEAD ME TO HEAVEN WHEN WE DIE!!!
It was Simple Design and Polyamorous for me. I played chess with my friend and his dad while listening to Simple Design on his iPod.
This was also my first song from them, and funny enough it was not from Halo, it was from a Zelda bosses montage

Breaking Benjamin was the first rock concert I ever saw live, definitely some feels here.
I've heard this song a thousand times and it never hit me how dirty that breakdown is
the bass is the unsung hero and my fav part of this song
This cover just reminded me of how amazing this band is, everything in the song from the riffs, drums, to the vocal melody all fit together so well.
Nik is really taking me back to high school with these covers lately. I'm all for it. Still jam to Breaking Benjamin to this day.
One of my favorite songs!!!! LOVE BREAKING BEN!!!! Seen them in concert 6 times!!!!!!!!!
I'm jealous. I've only been to one rock concert and that was Evanescence and Halestorm a few days ago. They were great, but BB is my favorite.
Always loved me some Breaking Ben, ever since I heard We Are Not Alone 17 years ago. Nice work.
Holy nostalgia. I still rememeber playing through Halo 2 the first time this suddenly came on and how friggin pumped it made 12 year old me.
People can shit on this band all they want but they were HUGE for me as a young teen just getting into rock and metal. and honestly so many of their songs still slap
Not sure who you hanging with but no one I know has anything but love for breaking Benjamin
I don't know anyone who dislike Breaking Benjamin... almost all of their songs are good and their new stuff is just as good as their old stuff.
Bro this was the first "heavy" song I've listened when I was 14, such good memories, THIS SONG IS SO GOOD OMG
Underrated riff machines.
Fr, they cranked out so many great songs and riffs consistently. I’m honestly surprised people don’t talk about them more.
The song that made and broke BB, still one of the best video game songs ever written
I've been on a Halo journey since last october with MCC after like 2007 or so, how in the hell did I miss this one?

One of the best BB songs out there!

YES! Thank you Nik, Breaking Ben is the bomb. Awesome job! 🤘
GOD I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH THANK YOU NIK
Breaking the sub button everytime you do a Breaking Benjamin cover
Daaaaaamn nostalgia! Great cover ;)
Nik has made it a mission to cover our entire youths. I love it.
The fact you put the tab on the screen got a like. Obviously the playing is on point. But the tabs... that alone... 10/10.
I love that we basically would have made the same mix CDs back in the day. Always super nostalgic rep choice man. Well played!
Actually one of my favorite breakdowns ever
So glad you did this video’s literally my favourite band

More Breaking Benjamin please!!!!
I really enjoy this community of people that enjoys the same music as me! It’s hard to find folk that enjoy listening to rock 🤘🎸
damn good cover this my favourite breaking benjamin song
One of their best songs for sure.
Thanks for the cover man! Just remembered that I have to kindly revisit Phobia and Dear Agony..
Damn the major and minor twist in this song sounds soooo good
Will always have love for BB! Nice cover man!
You need to do Hook Line and Sinner by Texas in July! That's a right fun song to play!
You make my day, Nik.

Just played this last night while playing the new Halo. Brings back beautiful memories.

Ah the teenage years! I was suddenly taken aback as soon as the opening riff came in! 🥲 to simpler times!

This goes hard! Stay focused bro, you should make your own band
I remember hearing this song while playing halo 2 Yeaars ago. Man, imma cry
I truly smashed that like button after hearing this ❤️
glad I found breaking Benjamin cause they eventually drawn me into Starset love both bands 🤘🏽
Halo 2 nostalgia. Great cover 🤘
I think someone is having fun with Infinite.
EDIT: Or Nik just knows how to surf the algorithm like a pro.
Halo - the very best Breaking Benjamin introduction there is.
Dude I've been listening to this song for like 2 weeks to channel that Halo 2 nostalgia
Like* if you just let the song play through at that last battle in Halo 2!
Also, this was the song that song me into BB :D
Like, not upvote, it's not Reddit
love me some BB. you should cover some of their 2016-2018 stuff too, their riffs are pure bomb and underrated
Master Chief would approve. Also, could we get a cover of Eternal Blue by Spiritbox?
Saw them a couple months ago with Alice in Chains and Bush!! They're so good live!
Great guitar cover live or die breaking benjamin fan an I enjoyed this a lot
Cool pfp. I had their logo as my pfp for a while, but yours is really cool.
More breaking benjamin covers pls
This was the first breakdown I ever learned to play.
When this song starts playing in that one mission in Halo 2, nothing compares
Damn it... I'm having a goddamn nostalgia of myself wishing to have Ben Burnley's signature guitare again XD
I see Nik is hyped for Halo Infinite. Slick cover. 🤘🏻

what are those points that are on the fourth string. 0:47
