Tal has unparalleled creativity, phrasing, harmony. Even Lenny can’t match tal’s freedom. His lines sound etudal, geometric, and contrived in comparison. And I’m a huge huge fan of Lenny Breau.

so cool how Lenny modifies the guitar by installing a classical guitar neck that gives him that WIDTH to play his stylings

maybe this is where Ornette Coleman got his musical inspiration for Science Fiction -- a combination of bebop and dissonance

I think starting with Clifford Brown it went from a ballad to insane tempos

Any standard can be any tempo as long as it feels great!

The words "great" and "virtuoso" and "master" are used recklessly now a days on pedestrian level "musicians". They can be used with out any reservations here! 1441 views? shameful and a sign of the ignorance of today's society.

Shame you see it that way, the caliber of musicians has only grown through the years and the bar is always being pushed higher.

I personally do not see a modern equivalent to many of these people. It’s not a question of ability but what you do with it. Sure the technical levels of players has risen in certain ways but it is starting to feel quite homogenized if you ask me. To much money and social media involved, not enough focus on the human element. But that’s just my opinion and to each his or her own.

@@zombielandakausa7468 I think you mistook my turn of phrase, I'm not at all shaming someone for having an opinion. I'm disagreeing and saying too bad you see it that way, because there are lots of brilliant musicians around today. Look up Pasquale Grasso if you don't believe me. One of many amazing artists/musicians out there in the world. You must have missed where OP shames all of today's society...
