@@shawnsweet5557 It was set for the battle of Mogadishu which happened in 1993 so the gear is period accurate. By 2002 the gear hadn't changed very much but there certainly is many similarities. Like MOLLE being introduced in 1997, making ALICE gear like the rigs seen outdated afterwards. And NVGs being issued to every soldier as well, needing helmet mounts on each helmet which became standard right before we stepped into Iraq/ Afghanistan. Not to mention around 2002 optics for regular rifles were being introduced and wouldn't be widely standard until late 2003 and early 2004. The helmets used in this battle are PASGT helmets which had been issued in the early 80's along with the flak jackets you see here that the Rangers are wearing. In 2002 the flak jackets were worn with MOLLE gear, but when IBAs became standard and other branches adopted them, flak jackets eventually fell off. As for the camo pattern on the helmet covers, that would be phased out by US Tri-color which is seen on the coats and pants used by the Rangers. 2002 that tri-color pattern was still standard US camo for arid environments and seen action as late as 2006-2007 until the military as a whole drew back it's use in favor of digital patterns and other private patterns. It's still in service today within the military with limited use but is still being seen. Any sort of gear worn aside what is needed for battle was updated or replaced by gear that can be modular for MOLLE use, so the ALICE bags and stuff you see here got replaced around the time MOLLE became standard. For the PASGT helmets, they would be collected and turned into Lightweight Helmets for the USMC and be used concurrently even today in many instances. The US Army introduced ACH and MICH helmets with varying cuts for various roles in 2000 and the following years. The ACH has a cousin named the ECH that is made of polyethylene and has become a standard with the USMC even to today. The drip is indeed cool and if I had money I would be collecting all I can find. Sorry for the lesson lmao, I had a LOT of energy.
@@haskins_halligan I've got a lot of energy too when it comes to military drip. But I gotta be honest with you. I absolutley hate and detest the MICH and ACH helmets they adopted in Iraq. They sit too high on the head, don't cover the ears and have no brim. They look ugly. I can'y stand the look of them. I always loved the PASGT helmet, and when the Marine Corps adopted the LWH helmet it was still a PASGT with a different chin strap systen. Why couldn't the Army do the same? PASGT will forever be a warrior's helmet. And will always look more badass and cooler than the ACH.

At the risk of sounding cringe, I believe people need to see this movie and research the Battle of Mogadishu. The events this movie is based on prove that even women and children are not wholly innocent when it comes to modern warfare. This should be especially true in the current Israel-Gaza conflict. Yet people will constantly believe the majority of civilian casualties are 'innocent'. Events like this prove them wrong.
@@muuminibrahim Oppress the fools that stole all the civilians aid? Pretty sad a modern country even needs food aid isn't it? I was actually one of the Somali people who were there at that time, it was a barbaric war against innocent people who needed to be supported. in the afternoon when the date was 03/10/93, and the time was 4:00, I saw the city where a fierce battle is going on. The planes were hovering over us throwing heavy bullets. The city was burning because of the war and in that battle that lasted for more than 24 hours, 24 American soldiers and innocent civilians were killed. One of the Somalis was my grandfather who was a sick old man. while General Aidid's army brought three helicopters to the ground with the Rangers Army. I also remember that General Aidid's army captured one of the pilots of the planes that were shot down by General Aidid's army whose name called Michael Duran.
