“Philistine” means “invader” in Hebrew. The Philistias were Aegean refugees whose origins were from Greece. They were white ppl who came across the Mediterranean Sea and tried to war with Egypt but Ramses III said he whipped their butt. Israel is tiny and prob seemed conquerable so they settled next to Israel and were constantly at war with them and still are to this day!

We have eye witness accounts of how the Egyptians looked through the historian, Herodotus and others. Joseph was mistaken for an Egyptian, Jesus and his family were able to hide among the Egyptians, and Paul was mistaken for an Egyptian. Herodotus poetically called them Black birds and spoke of their woolly hair.
Judges 16:19 KJV And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
Just looking at the comments; & my intentions were to see commentary on Samson's story yet im seeing comments on race. Why does it matter the skin tone of the people of the bible??? im sure God had a greater purpose for the bible rather than his people debating skin color. we are supposed to be looking at these peoples' stories, learning from them, reading in between the lines to see what God is trying to tell his people, passing them on to the generations to come. We must do better as Gods people, lets NOT be like the world and focus on appearance, the bible says God does not look at appearance but looks at the heart. We, as his children, must do the same and look at the deeper meaning, rather than appearances.
you need to wake up. The people in the bible for the most part weren't black. They were white skinned but since they lived in a desert they were dark skinned from tans....
Your wrong about everyone being black, they were arab/jewish. They would've had mediterrianian/golden skin colors, the Romans would've definitely have been mostly white skinned.
The founder of Judaism was Abraham who was from southern Iraq. Not africa. His descendants carried his Iraqi bloodline not an african bloodline. Scripture declares Eden was in mesopotamia by the location of the rivers in it. Not africa. Samson was of middle eastern origin not an african origin.
re read our scriptures and your hebrew. the river go through it then branches out into 4 meaning they all have the same starting point. That isn't in africa that is under the persian gulf. not near africa and are name. Euphrates Pishon Gihon and Hiddekel also called the Tigris which is east of assyria And if you read your sources and archaeology you will see that it is North West Yemen is Havilah, Assyria is Iraq. Now Cush is mentioned and the river mentioned flows into Cush not from it. but your interpretation completely replaces 3 middle eastern nations with afircan ones without any basis. That is called Replacement Theology The middle east is the area spoken of. Euphrates does not flow near africa and scripture is very clear that Iraq is the central area.
Why are so many people concerned about the skin color? Whether they should portray SAMSON black or white, none of us was there during that era. We are all living and believing off the scripture from the Bible. Neither black nor white color is written in the bible to describe Jesus or Samson's race. I don't see anything wrong for them having a black Samson and a white Jesus as long as the movie/series follows the Bible story accordingly.
I don't know why people have a problem with a black man portraying Sampson. Since the motion picture was created there have been Europeans playing the part and Sampson was not a European.
It's so very interesting reading these comments. People say color doesn't matter. Turn around and try to proves he's white. Lmfaooo what a freaking joke.
When dealing with a generation that sadly listens with its eyes and thinks with its feelings, who cares what skin tone or race the actors are? We should be glad that a series like this even exists on TV! The important thing is that this series has done a great job presenting these classic faith stories in a powerful fresh way which hopefully will help people become more curious about the Bible and ultimately return to God.
It’s important to listen with your eyes especially when it’s dealing with your ANCESTORS when your REAL HISTORY has been white wash. It’s IMPORTANT TO A TRIBE/BLOODLINE of ppl to know THINESELF to understand why RACISM exist. Bc of WHO you are. SO CALL AFRICAN AMERICANS are the apple of GOD EYE WE ARE THE WATCH PEOPLE. If you research the Ethiopian Jews, known as, Beta Israel (or Falasha) they have been associated with the Tribe of Dan for centuries, and this has been asserted by a number of noted rabbis and rabbinical scholars as far back as the 15th century (as if the latter really matters to these people). Beta Israel still perform the most ancient religious ceremonies known to "Judaism" or Hebraism. Secondly, I guess you never heard of the Lemba people of Uganda, a Black African People, who have more actual Hebrew or Jewish DNA markers than any of the other European or Mediterranean Jews known in the world today, including within the modern state of Israel! Let's not even talk about the number of African skulls found in Lachish or the wall reliefs of the Assyrian conquest, or that Hebrew is considered an Afro-Asiatic language. Just as today and even more so in the past, the Hebrews or the nation of Israel was not confined to a 'pure race' as mythologized, Abraham was from Ur (Sumeria) and even Moses married an Ethiopian woman, and throughout the bible we see the Israelites mixing and some having even Canaanite names. A portrayal of a Black Samson, is wa-aaaay more plausible and likely than a "white" Charleston Heston Moses! You need to read, The Invention of the Jewish People, written by, Shlomo Sanda, a "white" Jewish scholar. The book was in the best-seller list in Israel for nineteen weeks. It was reprinted three times when published in French (Comment le peuple juif fut inventé, Fayard, Paris, 2008). In France, it received the "Prix Aujourd'hui", a journalists' award given to a non-fiction political or historical work. An English translation of the book was published by Verso Books in October 2009. The book has also been translated into German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, and Russian, and as of late 2009 further translations were underway The Invention of the Jewish People has now been translated into more languages than any other Israeli history book.

Her Nazarites were whiter than milk , Lamentations 4:7 , Jesus and Samson are both Nazarites .
People get so mad to hear the truth so sad . Jesus was black read the Bible ok .
@@percylongshaft4091 Whiter than milk in Africa?😂😂👌🏾. His skin would have melted off

Those of ancient Greece were a mixed people.
Y'all so focused on skin color yall missing the point... yall getting distracted just like he was
No when you constantly white wash biblical figures people WILL get mad. Why did white people focus on race when they pushed this white bible agenda ?
@@elijahoye8216 I honestly don't have a good answer for that, however I agree with you. It's not even just the bible, it's other parts of history like the Egyptians for example. It's been so normalized for decades, and I don't think it's all or even most Christians, it's the misinformed/racist parts that have either grown up or have been taught it as that way.
Here's some of the parallel commentaries
Barnes' Notes on the Bible:
They are black unto the ground - The people assembled at the gates, the usual places of concourse, are in deep mourning and sit humbly on the ground.
Clarke's Commentary on the Bible:
They are black unto the ground - Covered from head to foot with a black garment, the emblem of sorrow and calamity.
What the Real Samson... according to the Holy Hebrew SCRIPTURES. POINT 📌 📍 BLANK BULLSEYE 🎯 PERIOD🔴.
💯
@L Grace : Awww don't your "WISH" the Fantasy Dream Matrix your living was "REALITY"....!?!? But there is so much Physical and Historical Evidence to prove otherwise....(YOU) just chose to be willfully ignorant by doing "NO RESEARCH AT ALL"....Your choice but it doesn't mean because you reject the "FACTS" doesn't mean they aren't "FACTS". All 12 Tribes of Yisrael where Black in Ancient Times and their Modern-day living Descendants are still All Black today. So believe what you want... because "FACTS are FACTS" even if you willfully and ignorantly chose to reject the "FACTS"....!!Good Bye.🤭🤗👋👋👋👋
It is not what i want it is what is true.

AMEN!
This is more accurate than that Caucasian Sampson promoted by hollywood.

Seen Samson in Game Of Thrones. I NEED to see this series.
Samson made in black
and he did a FABULOUS job for the honor of God...
How Sampson really looked. Another awesome story of what God can do.
yeah real great examples
He actually had 7 locs. Massive congos likely.
Judges 16:19 KJV
And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
When everyone wake up and realize everyone in the Bible was black we'll be able to get to the true principles of the book.
you need to wake up.
Jacob Mercer They weren't white, they were of Arab/African decent, possibly a mix.
you are a moron! LOL. They weren't black. Anda arabs are just white that are tanned from being in the desert
Your just confused Jacob. Black Samson is fucking Woolie, so he's king. Enter the woolie hole.
Samson was a beast!!!!!!!
Euphrates does not flow near africa and scripture is very clear that Iraq is the central area.
scientific fact places the earliest Human ancestors in Africa, so yes Samson is African, as are we ALL
You might as well say George Washington was black as well or Ronald Reagan for than matter
Philemon 1:3 Both of their earliest ancestors were African, so yes you're right, they are also black.
Finally someone that remembers that the isrealites are semetic
That Right!!
Why are so many people concerned about the skin color? Whether they should portray SAMSON black or white, none of us was there during that era. We are all living and believing off the scripture from the Bible. Neither black nor white color is written in the bible to describe Jesus or Samson's race. I don't see anything wrong for them having a black Samson and a white Jesus as long as the movie/series follows the Bible story accordingly.
wow finally a dread locked samson
I am white Irish and I think it's ridiculous how many people argue over skin tones of biblical characters you will all be judged by God
Eddie Mongan ikr i guess people are trying to hard to grasp the concept of the bible.
No biblical proof, nothing... just feelings. Smfh LOST!!!
Everyone watches and copy US
I doubt Samson was a black guy lolol
He was... Deal with it
lol. i think i misunderstood you lol
What about the teenage wrestler?
@@none23517 you are just stooopid.
He reminds me of MARK HENRY, THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN.
If you research the Ethiopian Jews, known as, Beta Israel (or Falasha)
they have been associated with the Tribe of Dan for centuries, and this
has been asserted by a number of noted rabbis and rabbinical scholars as
far back as the 15th century (as if the latter really matters to these people).
It was reprinted three times when published in French (Comment le peuple juif fut inventé, Fayard,
Paris, 2008).
