    I grew up an Elway fan. To say that was a heartbreaker - complete understatement. It was a unique situation. Jags were the hottest team at the time

      Jags were on fire, Brunell is still underrated

    I’ve been looking for this for years. You are the man! I would pay bank for the Super Bowl 32 NFL’s greatest games.

    Coughlin was an incredible coach; remember, you beat Brady and Patriots twice in the SB with Eli Manning as his Quarterback.

    This was Tom Coughlin’s greatest win as a HC until SB 42. And you can tell by the ESPN bottom line that Super Bowl XLII was coming soon.

    Watched this 1000 times in high school. Upsets like this seem more common today than 1996. Broncos won 7 straight playoff games after this including 2 Super Bowls

      Definitely less parity back then. NFL had a college feel to an extent where the top teams and pretty good teams still had a pretty big gap. There is a reason why a lot of superbowl games were blowouts and only one wildcard team until 1998 had won a superbowl. We really started to see this change in the early 2000s.

    As a Packer fan, so glad we didn't have to face Denver in this Super Bowl. We are 0 for the Moon vs the Shanahan's in the playoffs

    As a Bills fan, I knew Jacksonville was dangerous because they took us out the week before. However, I absolutely didnt think they had a chance at beating Denver. Still one of the all time playoff upsets.

    As a Pats fan, I was very happy the Jags won this game. The Pats had no chance at beating the Broncos in the AFC Championship.

    This game turned on a dime just like Michigan upsetting Ohio State 24-12 in 1969. Did that game also start 12-0 for the eventual loser?

    Jaguars should have taken ray lewis with the #2 pick in the draft. Kevin Hardy was good no doubt but he didn’t fully live up to the expectations of a #2 pick.

    Broncos making excuses why they lost. Jacksonville was the better it at that time. They were the hottest team in the nfl goin into that game

    • @KWCline91
      @KWCline91 Місяць тому

      Yes, Jacksonville was hot, but Denver was known more for running the football back then with Terrell Davis and crew. They could've gone to that plan and won the game (henceforth why they won the following year). But the problem was regardless of the gameplan, Jacksonville wasn't supposed to win even though they were sneaky good.

    This game really stung at the time. I thought like many, that they were going to the Super Bowl. But I also thought Green Bay was going as well and never felt like Denver was ready for that matchup. For some reason, I felt the 97 team was much more prepared because of this loss.

      He was 36 and was still chasing a ring. I doubt he was, but I think the defense wasn’t as sharp and Shanny had a terrible game plan. Way too many passes.

    The Jaguars would not even have been in the game if it were not for the corruption that we are so used to watching in the NFL with that horrible pass interference call
